So, there is no way to become an unkillable Promotion god/Lord. Pre-order cancelled While promotion grinding was fun in the beginning (at least for me and most people I remember playing with), soon it started to feel absolutely silly. Also it divides the community in such a way that even recommending builds became something impractical. In DAMP we never had a serious Youtuber coming up with builds for a reason: they don't really matter! Promoting is far more important and effective than builds. It feels like Bioware purposefully made everything in their power to fragment DAMP's community as thin as possible: Lack of dedicated servers, Region-locked matchmaking (Black Screen of Death for those who dared trespass it), one of the poorest if not the poorest netcoding in recent gaming, an extremely divisive loot progression, infinite power grinding via Promotions and 100-only Global Leaderboards. I hope by now they have learned their lesson. So true, but it was addicting like hell to grind your way to immortality.

"Currently" the cap is acceptable I think. Coming off of DAI I think expectations are at an all time low, but I'm still glad they don't let you become immortal. Currently. Nothing wrong with rewarding players who are dedicated to the game and put work into it, but there has to be a limit at the same time. Co op or not.

Funny how the guy is whining that ME3MP has had a 5-year lifespan, as if people have been playing it lifelessly for the past 5 years and thus progression should cover 5 years. What a joker. The game simply is 5 years old and few players have come back to it every now and then. If there is any way to measure the lifespan of the game, that was developers support which lasted for 11 months.
Most people might be leaving MEAMP in a matter of months, if not weeks. This a trend observable in any multiplayer game. Yet, new players may also come. The progression in-game has to be meaningful for and achievable by everyone, not just for the hardcore players who will stick with the game for 12+ months.
10-ish % sounds like a decent number for bonus stats. If this number suffers a very slight increase with the release of new content, I guess it will be acceptable still.

Still, why are we even having a promotion system again? It's like one of those ideas that someone thinks is great and insists on having in the game even though it gets pointed out that it's a terrible idea but they still insist and then put a cap on it to make it passable.

Never played DAMP was it really that bad? The worst of it was after they released one of their first mp dlc's, it caused a game breaking glitch that stopped progress dead in the middle of a game between stages unable to move forward to the next stage. All xp progress would be lost and in that particular game where you want to promote as often as you can, it was very very frustrating. It was flat broken for like 4 months AT LEAST and BW wouldn't even acknowledge it was a thing and one of their mods started to block peeps from bsn who complained about it. Was a very dark time. That damn glitch killed the MP for most peeps. I just stopped playing completely until it was fixed and came back hard promoted like CRAZY, got all the way up the first page of the leaderboards once, it was awesome.

Why did they even waste the time/money/code for such a small amount? Just give everyone the bonus 10 and remove the whole skills for promotes system if it's so offensive.

I don't know who " shinobi602" is, but this dude apparently has had a hands-on game session with Mass Effect Andromeda and he knows stuff. Nightman had the courtesy of sharing "shinobi602" experience with the game on this forum. The full info is on this link right here.
It all sounds pretty good. Now one part regarding the Multiplayer is particularly concerning: " New "Prestige" mechanic added: With several types of characters, you earn regular XP and prestige XP. The prestige XP goes into every character of that 'type', for example 'tanky' characters. Earning enough prestige can grant you added health for all tank characters, etc." This reminds of the Prestige system of Dragon Age Inquisition Multiplayer. There were three classes on that game - Rogue, Warrior and Mage - and after hitting Level 20 you have the option to promote. Sounds like Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer, right? Well, by promoting you get a higher Prestige rank on the Leaderboards, but not just that: you also get one permanent stat point for each attribute: Cunning, Constitution and Willpower. And there is no cap, you can promote over and over and become invincible. With a few hundred promotions (a number easily achievable, I got well over a thousand promotions myself) a Level one Rogue can be tankier than three Level 20 Warriors. Builds usefulness becomes obsolete. Skill becomes irrelevant. For those who have played Diablo III, it is just like the Paragon system of that game. I really don't want to see this crap in a Mass Effect game. Imagine if N7 10,000 players were completely invincible on Gold? Imagine if an Infiltrator could have more Health/Shields than the Juggernaut? I saw that the bonus is 1% and capped at 10% total so, assuming that info is correct, it isn't really game breaking. It was on the MECoop reddit. Also saw a claim that the devs said that the prestige or whatever is essential to surviving a gold run. Like EA insisted that DAI have multiplayer and microtransactions, Bioware didn't envision multiplayer for DAI, so they made it as crappy as possible on purpose.

It encourages people to play for longer than they may have otherwise, because they have a carrot dangling in front of their faces. It's *possible* to design these bonuses and balance the game around them; so that with max bonuses, your character is comparable in power to their ME3MP counterpart. This provides a natural progression towards Gold and Platinum difficulties without actually breaking balance, because it's factored in. Now, is Bioware clever enough to actually do that? Who knows.
