Whether it's him or not. The trilogy certainly has pushed minority statuses onto the male characters (Anderson, Udina, Jacob, Vega, Cortez, Kai Leng) a lot more than onto the female characters. The only non-white female character was Traynor I think. And of course that was fine, because she wasn't available to BroShep anyway.

In any case, that looks pretty affluent. You don't need to invent a whole backstory to say Earthborn Shep had a hard life in comparison. They didn't even have a family, so I know that much is different from Ryder too. And EVEN THAT sucked the minute it got in Mac Walters hand in ME3. Shep was full on boy scout in that game (it was already getting bad in Lotsb though.. but that was Weekes apparently. Who also sucks). The guy is a dork. And so is the protagonist in his hands.

That's true, that Earthborn Shepard had an harder life. It's the same for Spacer Shep though. 
It's true that we won't get different backgrounds that time, but what I meant is they might give us enough freedom (and maybe choices in defining our background a bit as in DAI, maybe more since there's a single one) to craft an interesting backstory.

DAI was pretty specific. For example, the human. It was basically Sebastian's story. And since I wanted to play a Rogue, it suffered even more. Rogues should have some worldliness, imo. Or at least get some kind of struggle. Being raised as some noble who gets sent to the Chantry didn't give much room for that. It's the fantasy equivalent of first world problems. Would Isabela or Zev be as interesting if they didn't have their hardship? Would Daario Naharis be interesting if he didn't grow up stealing and in fighter pits? You could say Arya is a noble rogue, but she lost everything. She's closer to the Warden than Inquisitor.

I could come up with some "loophole" where my character was an archaeologist or explorer.. therefore he got out of the Chantry to actually see the world. And he was "clever" at best. But this was silly. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to approximate a common, streetsmart human. The story gets in the way instead of frees me up.

In order to actually get a more Rogue-ish character, I had to play a whole different race (like a Qunari merc or Dwarven smuggler). Maybe it was better when they had only one race, and it was the human who could also be a smuggler or merc. Not sure. And maybe that's what MEA will be...since it is human only again.

In any case, I still think that picture sucks. Looks like suburban kids in a Nike ad.

straykat I didn't meant in inquisition we had a lot of options. There still some options to define your character's opinions on certain events in the past or the relationship with family members, or so I recall. It's been a while.
Hopefully in Andromeda there'll be more options.

So if I want to pay Scott as a sexy shade of chocolate like myself, what happens to Sarah? Same as DA2 I'm assuming.

Scott is the guy on the left. Liam is the guy in the middle. Sara is the female on the right.

If that is Sara on the right, is her hair blonde? I only ask since the female in the other trailer, after waking up, has dark hair.
