Zaeed and Jack all the way. I heard somewhere that the v.a. of Zaeed passed away.
Oh and Jack lives on in so many female characters you can create on Fallout 4, as saucy red head love interest in Alpha Protocol and of course as most badass suspender only tattoo model :P.

Miranda and Kaidan (ME3 versions), because I find their skill sets to be very useful.

I added Wilson, Jenkins, Anderson and Kenson to the list even though they're squadmates only for a brief time in case someone wants to choose one of them. Jenkins does not last long enough to even start the first enemy encounter. If 'they can be taken on at least one mission' counts as being a squadmate, then 'Brooks' should be added to the list. Kenson is the worst squadmate in the entire trilogy, and I don't think too many people will disagree with me. (Guaranteed there will be at least person who will disagree, though. That's fine. You're entitled to be wrong.)

At least Kenson did some actual fighting. She made me wish Mordin had the overload ability for more tech versatility.

Jenkins does not last long enough to even start the first enemy encounter. Even so, he's still a squadmate Forgot about her. I could add her name, but I would have to remove the poll to create a new one

Since the poll was reset since I last voted, I am going to re-up my original response to the poll: My squadmate choices are usually dependent on my Shepard's abilities. My Adept and Vanguard Shepards in ME2 and ME3 are taking squadmates with Warp for biotic bombs. So Liara across all three games. (No detonations in ME1 but Liara is one of the two most useful squadmates in ME1). No idea who the other squadmate would be. Kaidan probably since he is useful in both ME1 and ME3. He would probably be Miranda 2.0 in ME2. Most of the time for the other classes I take Liara and Kaidan in ME1 (because superior crowd control) and Mordin in ME2, and then variable in ME3. Hard to come up with an idea for who I would take across all three games since it is so varied. Hmmmm... I guess Liara and Kaidan for all three games, although I would I would give him Mordin's Cryo Blast and Warp in ME2 (no Overload). Liara is not that useful to a non-biotic in ME2, but extremely useful in ME1 and ME3 that I can overlook her being less than ideal in ME2 for a non-biotic. Obviously, I choose my squadmates based on their combat utility, not their personality/dialogue.

I like Miranda, but through the entire trilogy? Even when a diehard Cerberus operative while Shepard was a diehard Alliance marine who was basically in the good graces of the Alliance and the Council? That said, she's tied with Kaidan so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

This poll has very different results from what one would expect on the old BSN. It's interesting.
Back then this would be a race between the Liaramancers and Talimancers I believe. haha
Good to see A/K having a good bit of votes here.

I was barely on the old BSN forum before it was shut down. I wonder if FextraLife, who imported the entire BSN forum (and I feel kind of bad that it gets unused), has any similar polls lurking there. I'd heard there was a lot of hatred for A/K because "space racist" and "whiner" complaints.

I'd heard there was a lot of hatred for A/K because "space racist" and "whiner" complaints. Oh yes, in my experience on the old BSN, A/K got tons of hate and usually arguments would always start when one of the other character fandoms started saying racist or whiner and the supporters tried defending them. Generally A/K fans stuck to their character support threads in the characters forums or certain groups in the group section because of this. And Liara dominated most polls iirc.

And Liara dominated most polls iirc. Which begs the question, why? Again, I never hated her, but all the injecting her as a prominent figure in every game doesn't make me love her. If anything, it's made me like her even less the more times I've done a trilogy run. I can see people like the "shy, innocent young asari" from ME1 but there's nothing left of that person by ME2. OTOH, A/K aren't diehard flunkies that just do whatever Shepard says. From their perspective, Shepard was dead for two years and so seeing him/her alive again on Horizon, and flying Cerberus colors, is a shock. It takes to sort things out. And were they really so wrong in saying that maybe Shepard had a chip that allowed TIM control? If it were up to Miranda, it would have been there. For those two, it takes some time and evidence to understand that this is really Shepard and that they weren't betrayed. Those are people who can actually think for themselves, unlike everyone else who just dismisses the evidence.

Garrus, easily. His skill set is so incredibly versatile.
In ME1, he has electronics and decryption, so doors and crates are solved. In ME2, he is the only combat-oriented squadmate with Overload, meaning his sniper rifle covers armor; he can handle barriers with Concussive Shot, and his loyalty power gives him even more armor damage. In ME3, he is again the only combat-oriented squadmate with Overload, Armor-Piercing Ammo becomes really good, and his Proximity Mine functions like a non-biotic Warp (i.e. weakens armor and increases damage dealt to target) if you pick the corresponding upgrades.
Again in ME3, his passive can bring his health/shields and weapon damage to high levels, and can boost the entire squad's power damage by 10 percent. ALL power damage, including ammo powers.
My brother doesn't like biotics (he doesn't like magic in most games because it's another resource to manage), point being that he's a Combat/Tech kind of Mass Effect player. Except he doesn't care for the Infiltrator's skillset, and he's told me more than once that he wishes he could play as Garrus, or at least have a Combat/Tech skillset like Garrus.
I've mentioned elsewhere that Garrus is the Batman to my Vanguard's Superman, so as a Superman fan he basically has a perma-spot in my party whenever possible. Even as a Sentinel, Garrus is always a solid pick in ME2 or ME3, because two Overloads is always useful.
Miranda's skill set is one that I grow to rely on, even if I'm a Sentinel myself, because you always have her in the first mission in ME2. When you see how the powers work you grow to appreciate having someone on your team who can directly counter any opposition you come across.
In the Armax Arsenal Arena, having her on the team gives you not just Overload and Warp, but also Incinerate and Reave, with a passive that gives her comparable health/shields to more combat-oriented squadmates and can boost squad tech and biotic damage...
So many explosions...

For those two, it takes some time and evidence to understand that this is really Shepard and that they weren't betrayed. Those are people who can actually think for themselves, unlike everyone else who just dismisses the evidence. Liara's development is terrible throughout the series. As you said, shy innocent asari to apparently battle hardened, cold and ruthless Shadow Broker by the next game. And then her blubbering in ME3 when her world goes down is one of the most painful things in the series. She is just obnoxious in that mission. I wanted to leave her on the planet to die. Ash/Kaidan are awesome. I don't care what other fans think, but they are the two strongest characters in the series based on characterization and combat abilities. But based on my own observation, the generic opinion seems to be to hate on them and think Liara and Garrus are the best things in the series. I guess it doesn't hurt that both endlessly support Shepard and kiss his/her ass. Liara is forced down your throat as the most essential character in the series and Garrus really... doesn't add anything until ME3.

Garrus and Wrex, specifically from ME1. They were the dynamic duo of that game for me, rarely went on a mission without them.

I need to try out a few more combos, but I tend to always take Miranda and Zaeed in ME2, Garrus and James in ME3.

It was hard for me to pass on Alenko, but Garrus and James are my choices. They both feel like very true-to-life comrades to me. I'd gladly take them into any fight, and gladly kick it in our downtime. Cool bros.

Kaidan and Garrus. They are a Perfect couple in all my playgrounds. In ME1 I love having Kaidan and Liara with me: when I use them, I have to do nothing else but walk. They are monters, together. But Kay and Gar are perfect in every situation, for me.

Kaidan and Miranda purely because both of them are Sentinels. Superb OP combo to have on Insanity's Armax Arsenal Arena.
It would be interesting if Miranda infiltrated Shepard's team early on and form a close rapport between Shepard and Kaidan. There's a potential for betrayal arc and all.
