At first I thought that the technology for Cryo sleep was not invented yet, but then I remembered that there was once a Cerberus daily news about the Manswell Expedition: Cerberus Daily News - January_2011
Look for 12th of January till the 17th. Looks like the technology was there all along... |

Good find. There was also the cryo sleep technology from the Protheans. True, but in ME1 all of the pods are already dead and without power. Don't really know if anyone actually ever returned to Ilos to research those pods. I don't remember if that was even possible anymore. And the Andromeda Initiative was already sent by the time Javik pod in ME3 was discovered. |

And the Andromeda Initiative was already sent by the time Javik pod in ME3 was discovered. There was full-scale research expedition after ME1, nothing useful was found of course. Officially. Cryopods seem pretty much "standard" in Orientation video though, with nitrogen(?) tubes and stuff. So I'd guess it's typical freezer without prothean tech. |
