I wouldn't say it takes anything away. If nothing else, it adds something to the SP campaign. Before I had tried MP, I had done 7 single player runs, and I was ready to shelve ME3...when one day, I gave MP a shot. I spent that entire day playing MP....and the next day. I got really into MP and found there was so much content here..that I have stayed with it since. At one point, I took a break from MP and went back to playing SP and the game was completely different to me..from what I learned thru playing MP. I played the SP like I played the MP and I found that my MP experience / knowledge gained from MP had actually enhanced my new SP playthrough.

Thank you for sharing this . So game companies pretty much use what is standard practice in the management of product development projects - anything else would have been quite surprising.

This was exactly my experience too, right down to the 7 SP runs before trying MP. I also ended up buying another console to play it there, and always have one eye on gamer-spec PCs. Are you me, dude? I bought an Xbox magazine yesterday (because I'm old and still buy mags from time to time) as it had a feature on ME:A. Unless I missed something, there wasn't a single mention of Multiplayer in development. I know those of us here all kind of assume there will be MP, but has anyone seen or heard it being confirmed?

No, afaik MP isn't confirmed. Cheers, I thought not. Well, my pre-order was metaphorically cancelled when I thought Bioware had permabanned DragonRacer, but even though that was sorted out, the timing of when I buy ME:A will be dependent on it having MP. If it's MP-free, I really will be waiting till it's the price DA:I is now - a few bucks. I was quite worried by the dev talk in the article, which more or less makes it sound as if the game is being co-developed with the DA:I team. I've never played an DA games because I don't really do Tolkein-type games. Or books. Or films. But it's the structure they seem to be planning to copy in some ways, reading between the lines.

I´m confident it will have MP. The developer interview snippets in this article linkseem to imply this. So there is definitely a chance of another 1000+ hours of life going down the drain .

Yes "online component". That's the thing EA wants to have included in every of their games. I guess we all hope it's another MP. But it's a funny way to name it, unless you do so to make a cut go largely unnoticed. I do believe they work on a MP, but like always it might be "subject to change".

Thanks for that - it reassured me a little after what I read, or rather didn't read, yesterday. Nice to see some love for MP in the comments too. Overall it still sounds like they're making it up as they go along though!

Yes. That's why I was against MP for ME3, and against it for Andromeda also. One need only look at the rush job of ME3s general plot (and esp. ending) to see this is at least partially true. To think, we could have had a whole rainbow of plotlines to explore! I will, however, admit to enjoying the MP - for the most part - as well as a decent portion of the single player game. It's just my opinion though, there's really no need to go spreading it around.

A good read, and a far more detailed account of the point I've made numerous times on many forums over the years. It is worth noting that BioWare mentioned during DA:I's development that the Dragon Age Keep actually alone would have fulfilled that "online component" requirement. It seems that EA isn't all that strict on what it's supposed to be. That said, I fully expect another MP in ME:A simply because of how successful ME3 MP was.

I enjoyed the SP and the Extended Cut Ending - it seemed appropriate to me that there had to be some metaphysical, philosophical resolution to the conflict. In all honesty, after those millions of people died horribly in Reaper slaughterships to be reduced to goo - who actually thought that there would be a triumphant victory with Shepard being lauded as a hero in a grand medal ceremony or whatever?
I never expected a happy ending, so I wasn't really disappointed by the new ending - but that's only my personal opinion.
Hoping for a grand MP-Experience in ME:A, though I'm certainly not pre-ordering anything.
