There is a fair amount of controversy over the inclusion of Javik, from all the day one DLC issues to the fact that the freaky Prothean designs for ME1 were retconned into the Collector shape while designing Javik and the other Protheans. But he is a great character and probably has more development than anyone else in the game. Of course he is a world-class epic troll, but I always found him reassuring, because every time you encounter a new Reaper abomination Javik is like, nah whatever I've seen all this shit before and a thousand times worse. That's the great thing about him, he makes jokes on everyone's expense because that's the only way he can stay sane after the things he has survived. That's why I have never, ever had my Shepard chastise him for riffing on Shepard's crewmates, because he's witnessed the total destruction of his race first-hand, slept through 50,000 years of peace from the Reapers only to wake back up finding himself in the same war he left. He's earned the right to make fun of the primitives who can barely begin to comprehend the level of terror he has lived with from the moment he was born. Plus his overwhelming desire to brutally murder all the Reapers in the most painful way possible, despite the fact that he is a tiny little grumpy Prothean speck of dust compared to them. With the Leviathan DLC and the ending attempting to throw a little moral ambiguity the Reapers' way, it's nice to have a character to reassure us that the Reapers are nightmare creatures, the worst of all beings, purposed only to slaughter all life by an insane AI.... and THEY. MUST. DDIIIIIEEEE. No one is more sure of his mission and he never wavers from his goal of dead reapers despite the laughably overwhelming odds. He's awesome. One of my greatest regrets with the ending of ME3 is that the people who bought From Ashes weren't treated to a post-choice scene of Javik reacting to the fate of the Reapers. More than anything, I would have wanted to see the expression on his face as the Reapers collapse in the Destroy ending. Personally, I would have liked to see him bury his memory shard in a patch of dirt, look up in the direction of the Citadel orbiting Earth and say "Now we are free." with just a hint of a smile, before addressing the absent Shepard; "I will see you again. But not yet... not yet."

I posted this before
When Shepard leaves the fob, Javik would be required. Shepard, Javik and other squadmate make it up the beam. They encounter Cerberus troopers. One of the squadmates tells Shepard to go open the arms while they deal with Cerberus. Just as TIM gets ready to do his fist pump thing, one of the squadmates shoots him.
A few moments later, all 4 take the platform up. After the thing finishes talking, Javik tells Shepard to call for a shuttle. He will shoot the tube. As the shuttle enters the Normandy, a red light can be seen. Javik gets his revenge
The only problem with the above is Javik is optional since he can only be recruited by playing the From Ashes dlc

I think I'll end my run with Javik and Garrus. Starting thinking it was a good bookend to the intro of ME1, about Nihlus and Prothean beacon.

I had briefly installed MEHEM to see what it was all about. I fired up my very first John Shepard and loaded up to just before attacking Cronus Station. Once I got to Earth and had to pick my squad to get the missiles fired and make a beam run, I chose my LI and - for the first time - Javik. It felt like a game changer with him there. Previously, I've had Liara, Garrus, EDI, and James in addition to LI Kaidan. Can't believe how much better things went with Javik there. I might have to use Javik more often once I finish my ME2 run with Jonathan Shepard and import him into ME3.

Javik's a surprising character. He's highly critical of this cycle's softness but accepting of Shepard's decisions, no matter how they go against his own suspicions. I kept expecting him to challenge Shep's authority here and there, like when allying with the Geth. Maybe he's decided that he may as well go along with Shepard's decisions since his own military failed in theirs? Maybe it's because he's still under the doctrine that no other enemies than the Readers are tolerated since they can't afford conflict amongst themselves?

Most perfect use of Collector armor in the entire damn trilogy. And of course: Javik wants to have a word with you at the nearest airlock....

The following is an extract from Javik's "Normandy Crew Capability Analysis"....... As long as Vega maxes out his PT score he "deserves" to be promoted ahead of everyone else* who just passes PT, and that includes everyone with a better brain than him. Which is about 99% of the rest of Systems Allliance personnel. Would be 100% except they still employ bomb sniffing dogs. Wait those dogs are actually pretty smart.... Ok so it's 100%. *apologies for niche army humor.. An explanation; if you are a physical training god, but dumb as a box of rocks and barely competent, if at all, in your job, you get more respect and favorable actions than the guy who does "only" above average in physical training, even if he is incredibly sharp and almost savant-like in his job.
