I'll try narrowing it down a little. I just finished watching "The Expanse". Is there something similar without too many anime tropes? (I.e. a realistic take without all those flat anime-specific "jokes", exaggerated characters, and exaggerated animations) I did have a sci-fi space opera with a lot of politics suggestion but it's a long and old anime. There's a prequel movie, a movie that replaces ep. 1 and 2 and than there's the anime that has 108 episodes (not counting ep 1 and 2) I'm talking about Legend of the Galactic heroes: Trailer: (the trailer has no subs)

Based on your username, I would think you'd already be aware of Ghost in the Shell. If it's just a coincidence, try Ghost in the Shell. It's seinen (geared towards adults) so it definitely avoids all the typical anime tropes seen in shonen stuff. Are you talking to me? If so my username is from Shadowrun. What is Ghost in the shell about? Well there's the acclaimed 1995 movie and an OVA, which I think have different plots, but the synopsis for the anime called Ghost in the Shell: The Stand Alone Complex is as follows: "In the not so distant future, mankind has advanced to a state where complete body transplants from flesh to machine is possible. This allows for great increases in both physical and cybernetic prowess and blurring the lines between the two worlds. However, criminals can also make full use of such technology, leading to new and sometimes, very dangerous crimes. In response to such innovative new methods, the Japanese Government has established Section 9, an independently operating police unit which deals with such highly sensitive crimes. Led by Daisuke Aramaki and Motoko Kusanagi, Section 9 deals with such crimes over the entire social spectrum, usually with success. However, when faced with a new A level hacker nicknamed "The Laughing Man," the team is thrown into a dangerous cat and mouse game, following the hacker's trail as it leaves its mark on Japan."

So. I hate Anime tropes, just getting it out of the way. What I saw of them grated on my nerves severely. However, I'm not against the general idea of cartoons Vs. other types of media. What would you guys recommend to someone that hates anime tropes but likes Sci-Fi (and fantasy to a lesser extent)? I haven't seen it yet, but there's an anime called Legend of the Galatic Heroes. It's a Science Fiction series based on 10 novels. I think 3 of them are in English and are currently being published in the United States right now

You should watch the videos I uploaded tbh. It will teach all about Gundam Thunderbolt. Just watched and yeah those were actually some very good scenes. The animation work is very good I agree. Funny you should say that... That's Zeta Gundam circa 1985. The Gundam the titular mobile suit from the One Year War was one of only a few lines of that machine, but after the war the process began during the conflict it subject to extensive redesign, limited and mass production variants, an entirely new generation of Gundam was born in the decade that followed. This MK Psycho that faces down the Gundam Zeta is one such mobile suit. Lo is one of Thunderbolt's protagonists and I think people often misconstrue that term with another as you did here with "hero" They never really shied away from it but erm its last two incarnations in UC Thunderbolt and Unicorn have definitely returned to the darker more mature themes of war rather then delving into the halfhearted preachy perspective of its AU counterparts such as Seed and 00. The female in question there? She's a clone to make an exceedingly long story short. She was bred by Zeon solely to be another soldier, an artificially created copy of the original donor's potential as a combat pilot, she's one of a dozen or so. Not the most kind childhood's is it? Although Neo Zeon didn't exactly mistreat the clones they were created solely for the purpose of being used as tools of war like any other pilot and soldier. They were never given a future, just a present, a role to fill, but here is the kicker. In the aftermath of the Neo Zeon War, which my bae Haman led against the Earth Federation back in 0089 she was shot down in its final battle, barely clinging to life, most of her "sisters" were killed in that very battle. Anyway she's pried out of her mass production black Qubeley by the Federation and well follows is typical in Gundam. She's sold into sex trafficking, child sex trafficking within the Federation I suppose I should elaborate, she's roughly 12 or so at the time. That's her future until Zeon once again returns to her life many, many years later and takes her back in this time for a new war. She tells the preachy, whiny brat all of this heavy shit in that church, because to her the concept of a "god" is laughable yet she finds the notion of such a thing existing to be comforting, because otherwise, what is the purpose in all the suffering she endured? In the novel its even more graphic, she's basically given multiple abortions due to the erm ya know sex slave thing, but in the anime she's just rendered sterile. No need to carve her up like a turkey so she's minus the genital mutilation in the anime. But... This cute little picture should sum it up. I could rant about the Federation being dirt bags that get off on raping kids for a week though, I think I have made my point.

You don't have a lot of anime that go that far and the ones that do tend to try and shy away from the very fact. I hope she got a good ending although considering how dark all of that sounds I kind of doubt that she got one. Still, It does sound that Gundam handles it themes in very interesting and good ways when it comes to war. At least that's my impressions from what you're telling me and from what I've seen. When I'll get that big anime feeling again I'll probably give Gundam a shot.

Just started Part 5 of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Vento Aureo. I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up using this song as the ending song when the anime starts.

Kazuma: Well, I'm off to bath Megumin: Surely you've heard of "ladies first"? Kazuma: I yearn for true gender equality. Kazuma: I have no patience for one who talks about female privilege when it suits them, and then complains about someone "not being a man" when it's covenient!
Hahaha Based Kazuma.

If you can believe it, I'm a Black Lagoon fan =p I enjoy the show because it can be watched on two levels. You can watch it as nothing more than over-the-top action; like something like Hellsing. Just a bunch of hot girls and guys shooting it out with each other, a sword-versus-gun fight, and explosions and 10 f-bombs per episode. Or you can dig deeper, and watch it as what I consider the Breaking Bad of anime (though it went there first). And watch a guy step into the underworld, completely unprepared for it, and be beaten down over and over as he fails to make the world around him a better place. The question becomes, will he start sacrificing everyone around him, including the woman whom he wants to save most of all, in his rise. So, no not ashamed at all to like it. With its astounding dub (perhaps the best every), solid music (not Bebop or GitS:SAC good, but very good), it's one of the best shows I've ever seen (note, not anime, TV, period). When they start getting into existentialism and philosophy, it's awesome. Why the fuck would I be embarrassed about that? They should've put Samuel L. Jackson up on that motherfucker.
