Tomorrow is my GFs birthday and I've already got plenty of things for her. I just can't think of a big gift idea and I need to pick something up from Walmart before I visit her tonight.
What would you want for your birthday from a romantic partner?

That depends...does she still have that brace on her leg? If so I'd propably do something practical like get her a gift card so she can go pick herself up some new jeans and pants when the brace comes off her leg. I'm betting she had to ruin quite a number of pants with that brace.

I want it to be something meaningful and special to a birthday. I've already got the cheesy romantic stuff, lots. I want to get something of monetary value as well.

A nice meal, a massage and setting bit more time aside to do something we both enjoy that day. I am probably bit dull, but I never liked anything that requires too much effort or money as that only makes me uncomfortable.

How much do you want to spend? Has she mentioned needing something you can afford to get her? You know her better than we do. You know her tastes, you know what you're willing to spend. I'm sorry, when it comes to gift giving I like to be extremely practical and gifts for me had better be something I need. My family hates it and says I'm too hard to buy for but they want to get frivalous shit and I'd be content with a stuffie a choclate bar and a payment made on my electric bill...or something like that. Anything stupidly expensive and not practical just pisses me off.

I think she could use the money for things when I'm not there to take care of her.

Well it sounds like you've already picked up a few little things, right? Make it a sweet romantic evening, spend time with her and then explain to her your reason for the gift card...You thought about a bunch of different things and felt it might be better for her to decide what she needs. $100 is quite helpful actually. I think she'd appreciate it.

Honestly, unless your GF is a total jerk, I don't think anything you could get her for the most part will be recieved poorly. I don't know you or your circumstances (since I noticed Viv mentioning she's had a brace on her leg) but I too have been out of commission all year until recently with a seriously broken ankle and in casts/walking boot/walkers and cane. I've been with my husband for 22 years and he is such a great guy and while his gifts have always been thoughtful- it has always been- truly about his thoughts for me and his ability to be affectionate and thoughtful that have really added, I don't know, gold limning to all of his gifts to me. So if she's the kind of girl that is more high maintenance with self care (I am- I use a whole plethora of bathing products and I have a VIB level of Sephora addiction etc lolol) then do something aligned with that. Hell if you guys live in separate places and it sounds like you aren't going to be around for awhile or often I'd just hire maid services for a couple of months or something. Or massage certificates because whenever you have an injury your body compensates and it causes tension in parts of your body you never felt before. Also- just generally- it pays to know if your loved one is into gifts or acts of service etc. I know on the "love languages" quiz gifts are very low on my priority list and I highly just prefer physical affection and words of affirmation. Basically hold me and love me Take me on a date and I'm golden!

I think mrsanomaly said it perfectly. You know Bunz, anything from the heart should be appreciated, a sign of affection and not something over the top materialistic. If she really cares for you then she'll notice your effort into remembering her birthday and getting her a nice gift. Is she a gamer? I'd automatically want games if he insisted on buying something anyway Or perhaps you could give her one of those sweet necklaces, don't know what they're called, where there's room to put a picture in, I think they're so sweet...
