Imagine how amazing a Trilogy 'retrofit' mod would be if done well: NPC chatter, news vids and codex entries about the Andromeda Initiative placed within the current Trilogy as a lore booster for ME:A. This would be a way to 'fill in the blanks' where you would expect people to talk about the Initiative during the ME1-ME3 timeline. In ME1 it could be general chatter about what the humans have initiated and the progress of the building the ARKs, random chatter around the Citadel and Noveria (few new NPCs perhaps) and maybe some people talking about " I would love to join...and I've always wanted to be an explorer...it's scary but I might just do it!" and " That Andromeda Initiative is shady if you ask me, definitely not a solid investment for any ExoGeni executive" etc. In ME2 it could be news vids about the imminent launch of the ARKs and how the galactic community is 'expanding' beyond the milky way in a risky but perhaps, one day, profitable venture to try and connect the two galaxies. NPCs again could be added on Ilium, Tuchanka, Omega and again the Citadel to further bulk up the lore pre-launch (people saying goodbye to loved ones, claiming the AI group are suicidal lunatics etc). You could have sad loved ones left behind on their home worlds, talking about how they will miss their son/daughter/partner and perhaps disgruntled rejects from the program talking " why didn't they want me?...I passed the tests, sure...I've got a record with C-Sec...but who hasn't?". In ME3 it could be remorse over not joining the AI, "I wish I went to Andromeda now, at the time it seemed crazy, but now I would rather be anywhere else than this maker forsaken Galaxy". Codex entries to update the progress of the initiative could be placed (voiced if the narrator could be convinced...$$$ lol) in all 3 games, making the retrofit complete. I posted this on GAF also, would love to hear BSN's opinion (also does anyone on BSN make mods? I'll voice a Kiwi volus if so!)

Cool idea for a mod. I think it is inevitable, now, that this happens. I'm a console guy. Otherwise, I'd definitely give a mod like this a try. It would be fun on an "extended trilogy run": Mass Effect through ME:Andromeda.

The lines would have to be recorded from scratch, existing dialogue would need to be replaced to make room for the new lines.........it's a big clusterfart.

It's definitely no small undertaking, but mods have had custom audio recorded since the dawn of modern mods..... it's not a new thing my friend

It's certainly worth a try.
It will be difficult, sure, but what the hell else are you gonna do til Andromeda launches?

I like your can-do attitude We just got rocked my major earthquakes here in NZ last night....and my diecast Normandy SR-1 nearly fell off the computer desk, I saw it as a sign for action!

I don't see the point. It sounds like something trivial to me. Everyone just assumes the AI project was common knowledge because of the recruitment video we got to see, but who is to say that the project wasn't made known to only but a select few of the respective populations. We aren't privy to all the ideas and projects of every single rich individual or corporation. 100,000 people is a relatively small number--even if that means 100,000 per ark and not all together. Perhaps candidates for the AI had to sign an NDA so that there wouldn't be an issue with "undesirables" trying to hitch their wagons. For such a small number of people going, it is probably crucial that every person who goes can do something to benefit the entire group.
That is why I think trying to shoehorn AI into the original trilogy is pointless.

I would just insert elevator blurbs for it in ME1 and a screen of the recruitment video in ME2 on some of the add terminals there, and maybe info-blurbs in the same vein in ME3 on Citadel about the successful launch in yesterday's news. Shepard is too busy dealing with here and now to really pay attention to some crazy mission 600 years into the future if all goes well the results of which the Milky Way will never know. IMO, less is more in these sort of things.

IMO, less is more in these sort of things. This is pretty much what I'm suggesting: nothing drastic by any means, just subtle little things here and there (like say, 1-3 per game in the trilogy) that nod at the initiative, but don't ram it down your throat. Less would indeed, be more. Less would also be easier to make/produce to a high standard of audio/visual quality: so there's that too
