Liam Kosta (Official Thread)

I think chances are better that the aliens (maybe Peebee and Jaal) will be story relevant, so I actually hope, those are our bisexual romance options. Plus, I'm not that much into Liam for now.

And then say, "Well Scott is a predefined character and he's just not gay.  Sorry!  Oh, Sarah?  Yeah, she's totally any sexuality you want.  But Scott?  Definitely straight.  Since he's our character....."

Anyway, I'm just bracing for a straight Liam.  It's kind of tradition in Bioware games:

Carth, Kaidan (ME1), Alistair, Jacob, Carver, Vega, Solas, Varric, all of the starting male SWTOR companions......

Whenever they give you a starting male companion right from the hop, he's straight.  Without exception (well, with the notable exception of Kaidan who was bisexual, but 'in the closet' at the time, i.e. they didn't decide he was bisexual yet at that point) .  Although I suppose there's always a first, right?

Oh for goodness sakes I don't even know what the chap looks like and I already know that there is going to be no one else in the game my Scott Ryder will be interested in romancing 

Better question is why would anyone even WANT to romance the starting human companions? They're always super boring compared to the rest.  I'm not a fan of characters who are only considered good because of the romance quality like Kaidan/Ash in ME. All they had going for them as characters was romance potential. They weren't developed much at all beyond that. Anyway about Peebee I hope she's not so forced into the story as Liara was. Because if PeeBee turns out anything like Sera as I fear she will I would like the option to exclude her from everything lol

Ok Miranda was a tiny exception....but Jacob, Kaidan and Ashley are irredeemable. Not only their characterization but how the romances were handeled in 3. "Oh i've doubted your decisions and didn't have your back for one full game and a half despite you saving the world twice, but now I realize I actually loved you". lol.

Maybe because it was between him and Steve Cortez? Not exactly many options to choose from.


I don't know, but I get why they acted like that. Did it get jarring? Sure. But to be fair you did work with a terrorist group willingly after coming back from the dead, so their suspicions aren't exactly unfounded. I would call it a bit of an overreaction.

And I thought Jack was a nice human romance as well. It's all pretty subjective of who has the best romance.

I agree. They did overreact a bit much, but with the galaxy in peril, and with a terrorist group being even sketchier than ever, some may have had the same reaction.

Ah, I missed the starting companion part. I was still satisfied with Kaidan, as he was technically a starting companion in 3 (despite the extreme lack of options). And many people liked the Miranda romance. I'm not quite sure where people stand with Ashley, and nobody likes Jacob's. 

I'm still curious about Liam, and with what I heard about him so far, I kind of want my Scott to romance him.

Because I like human and human male lover for Male PC is somewhat rare in ME universe.

Plus I don't think Kaidan is boring, and I like good guy (not perfect but good enough) .... also love his voice and his class (Magic on space YES!).

I really hope Liam/Cora will not be Kaidan/Ashley 2.0 in term of Individual.

Considering the popularity of Luciano Costa and the MEA team having a brazilian with the surname Costa, I guess it's possibly to him be part brazilian.

He's Ryder first companion, I think we will see his face in first 10 minute of MEA.

Dev. said we will know more about him (and Cora) before game release. I just don't expect to wait this long. (other 3 race already show clear face to US).

Yeah, the VS gets a lot of flack for being too untrustworthy, but I completely get where they are coming from, especially the how "Is that all you can say after all these years... etc." part. 

Shepard should have shown the same care for the VS as he did Liara and the others, who he automatically hugs regardless of whether you romanced her or not.

I'm actually kind of hoping for more organic reactions from our new protagonist. Like not every way he reacts towards squadmates is what we direct him to, or control, or pick given the option. Sometimes just a natural, casual reaction to talking or meeting or greeting the new squadmates in whatever different context or scenario.

And for goodness sakes the waiting game for Liam's face reveal is driving me insane 

Bit late here but regarding Liam's nationality/ethnicity. I went to uni with a girl with the last name Da Costa. She was born in England but her dad's family was Angolan-Portugese and she was a light skinned black girl. She didn't have any Indo-American blood, just African and European, so she wasn't really Latina as such. I remember her having really beautiful curly hair.

Maybe Liam will be the same.
