Really? they treated him like a throwaway character throughout the series and didn't really develop his character much. James Vega in one game gave us more backstory and personality than Kaidan in 3 games. I always knew him as "Headache guy". Even in ME3 his dialogue during missions could be summed up as "wow would ya look at that" and "oh so you two know each other?" never really anything interesting.  I guess he's decent if you romance him, otherwise he's very forgettable compared to the rest of the cast. I hated Ashley but saved her instead just because she was slightly more entertaining, though I replayed the trilogy saved Kaidan, and he's probably better in ME3.

The problem with both Ashley and Kaidan was that there was really nothing there beyond the surface. I think a lot of that stems from the fact that besides a few personality quirks they are essentially the same character. You kill one, and the one you spared takes the place of the one dead. Same dialogue responses and all. This imo hurt their development as characters, because they were so fixed on this path from the very beginning. So lets hope that Liam and Cora have been developed differently. Lets hope they are not templates made to take the place of the one killed off, and instead are unique characters.

I immediately had my eyes on Liam for my broRyder's LI. Buuut, I'm a bit worried that Liam is going to be the only male human option for gay broRyder... and if Liam turns out to be subpar, then I'm gonna flip. I must have my space boyfriends!!!1

I really hope we will have Male Human to romance more than One. In ME3 we have 2 option and they said MEA will have more romance option than previous game. That should include Human option for Scott too (please).

Are you also part brazilian by any means? 

I just hope he's not Koth Vortena 2.0. From what we heard, it sounds a bit like that.

Cause apparently its too much to ask that Scott (or indeed a male protagonist) has a human male squadmate romance option.

Sorry, I don't just want an NPC. Cortez was great, but Kaidan being a squadmate meant more content and better writing personally. 

Though we only had this option two games later with 1/3 of the content missing, which isn't good, or equal, enough.

I'll just stay here waiting for at least Liam's face reveal, before settling into the disappointment that he will be exclusive for Sara

Mmm, maybe. If so, I'd be a bit bummed because there's nothing better than taking your LI with you on missions, to have your back, see what you see, experience what you experience... having them be back on the ship the whole time you're pwning would be rough in my books. That said, I hope Liam or another gay male human squadmate will be options for broRyder. But, I don't think there's another second human male for a squadmate this time around? I haven't noticed anyway.

I'm still hoping it goes something like this, since as it would stand, there would be 2 options for each group, with more that aren't included since we don't yet know any other potential characters who can be romanced so:

Straight Men: Cora as an exclusive, PeeBee

Straight Women: Liam, Drack as an exclusive (although I still doubt they'd allow a krogan romance so if not Drack, Jaal)

Gay Men: Liam, Reyes as an exclusive

Lesbian Women: PeeBee, Vetra as an exclusive

2 for each as it stands, and like I said the potential for more romances for each group going by what BioWare has said. But where the squad is concerned, I think it could be something like that.

Ideally of course, Cora would also be available to Sara as well but I doubt BioWare is going to make Liam, Cora and PeeBee all bi, sadly.

I'll be a very sad panda if there isn't a human male romance on my squad unless this Jaal person turns out to be a hot human looking Andromedan or a mask-less quarian. I know it sounds shallow but I would never have gone for Garrus even if he were available to my Shep. I really don't get all the mooning that straight women do over him.

If Liam isn't available then I have this theory about SAM that probably won't pan out even though I really want it to. If we end up with only a non-squad human or alien that literally look like an animal on two legs² or has a tribal masks for a face³, well... I'll still enjoy the game but I won't get those really emotional feels when your LI is in the trenches with you right before the final battle.

That scene where the Normandy picks up Kaidan covered in blood and he tells you he loves you¹ is basically my favourite moment in gaming. ME3 was my first BW game and I only picked it up after I heard that it let you have a gay relationship in it. I'd never really played a shooter before and I was really, really bad but from that first moment that Dr. Eva tried to crack his head open and my Shep was like "NooOOOOooo!! You will not harm my space boyfriend!" and then slung him over his shoulder and carried him back to the ship, I was hooked.

Dammit, now I need to go play ME3 again.

If Liam is straight then I really hope the MEA team took notes on how Josephine and Cullen's romances were handled in DAI. I really didn't feel they were any less important/prioritized than the companion romances, unlike how Cortez and Traynor (and Miranda, Jack, and Thane) were handled in ME3.
