I read the article down below and this quickly no sold the game for me. Not about to spend extra for a collector's edition that contains no game. So what are your thoughts on this pretty crappy turn of events?

Okay but... it's not being advertised a collector's edition for the game though.

It's being advertised as "Hey buy our RC Nomad because it's cool and shit".

So I'm not sure what the anger is for, as there's three editions of the game coming out for sale, the normal game, the deluxe version (with some digital swag and a soundtrack), and the super deluxe version (with more swag, a bunch of MP stuff, and the soundtrack).

If you're interested in buying the game, and not the RC Nomad, I'd suggest going for one of those.

Damnation is delightful. Everyone should try it.

It's not such a big deal to be honest.

I see it more like a way to combine a Collector's Edition with the platform and game version you want instead of them having to create even more different bundles. I'm sure the price would've been higher if the game was already included anyway so there's no big difference in the end?

...yeah, because there are two editions on BioWare store.

One for 200 USD, without the game, and one for 260 USD, with what seems to be the Deluxe.

Sounds rather fair, really, because some might favor digital game purchase but still want the Nomad. This way they don't have to buy the game twice.

Wonder if that means that there actually will be a physical release of the Deluxe edition for PC as well then or if that's just the steelbook plus an Origin download?

Edit: Apparently I can't read. The Deluxe options were only available for PS4 and XB1

Its poorly worded, but it isn't a collector's edition of the game, but a collector's edition of the item itself. Most games that have been released recently seem to increase the price for a collector's edition with a statue by about $100 so I am not really sure where the anger is coming from.

They specifically said this was done in the interest of the customer. They could've included a disk, and it wouldn't have changed much for them. Customers looking to splurge on this, though, could've frequently arrived to find this CE "sold out" for their preferred platform.

Anyone looking to drop $200 on a steel case and RC Nomad is likely not going to be hurt by buying a standard edition of the game. This is not targeted at the typical, or even dedicated, fan. It's aimed at real collectors.

As far as I understand, this isn't a bioware product at all, but a 3rd party release in cooperation with bioware.
They did the same with DA:I and the Inquisitor's edition (which I own and love!).
The wording is a little obscure, but it's not actually a bioware product, and they don't claim it is, and they are crystal clear about the "game not included" part, so it's not like they're cheating people out of their money.

I doubt I'll buy it (though who knows?! I'm kind of a geek when it comes to collectibles), but I wouldn't say it's unfair.

I think Battlefield 1, Resident Evil 7, Mirror's Edge Catalyst and Wolfenstein: The New Order all have collector's editions that come without a version of the game included. I suppose it makes it more Collector's Items or Collector's Pack then. I suppose an upside is that you can buy it with whichever version of the game you prefer or wait to buy it until you've played the game?

I was not happy with it at all. I really hoped MEA s collector s edition would have been my first but I was not impressed. As a person without a stable income of my own I cannot buy it sadly. It is not a good deal for me nor I think a Mako (RC or not) would be useful ,it is just for the 'wow' factor. I do not have the luxury of buying expensive toys. I like Collector's that are reasonably priced and include apart from the game,things I can actually use or give a crap about.
One example is the Witcher 3 CE which sadle I didn't buy because back then I had no PS4. But for less than 130 euros I could get the game, a steelbook,a cool statue,the medallion replica,copy of the spmoundtrack,stickers and other minor thingies.
These are the types of Collector s i like. I d easily give 200 for a smaller cast of the Mako, a steelbook,the game,an artbook, maybe an AI patch , a poster etc.
