Currency and geopolitical differences aside, I think it's a mistake to charge the "standard" AAA price for an untested soft reboot. They ought to hedge expectations by discounting the first installment. If it's a smash hit, they'll still make a ton of money selling it for US$64.99 or even US$59.99. If response is mixed or a flop, people won't feel quite so cheated. And none of that day-one US$9.99 DLC bs either. Of course, since EA sets prices, that will never happen. No, if people buy the game on day 1 and feel they were cheated it is their own fault for buying the game before knowing what they are buying. I wouldn't expect Bethesda to not charge full price for their games even though I know their games are buggy unfinished messes at launch or CD Projekt Red to charge less for Cyberpunk 2077 since it is a new IP from them and we don't know if they can pull off a futuristic game.

A little bit more pricey, sure. Anyone else notice the "standard" edition has the superior cover art??? Easily the best box art out of the 3 I reckon too....It's my wallpaper in all of it's HD glory, loving it Rydad

A little bit more pricey, sure. Anyone else notice the "standard" edition has the superior cover art??? Up for debate. I prefer the Deluxe. Isn't the ridiculously high prices due to the Australian government and the way they put taxes and import fees o video games? I remember hearing about similar problems with new games on Steam as well. Unless I misunderstand what I have been reading it seems $90 for the base version of the game is what all new games cost. Here in Canada; 79.99 seems to be the magic number if my memory is correct. Though admittedly, 10.00 is nothing to me when it comes to Mass Effect. Czech Republic is listed in Euro, at 60, 70 and 90 for Stanart, Deluxe and SD, respectively. That's about 1600, 1900 and 2500CZK. All estimates, they're gonna differ. Used to be we had games for 1000, then 1100, then 1200... And now even retail is 1400, and let me tell you, I'm glad I got older and can work part time if I decide so. Why just part time? No, not lazy, not a person that abuses welfare, but a student.

59,99 EUR in Germany, that is the regular price at release for any AAA game. But 89,99 for MP booster packs is ridiculous. But if people let themselves be ripped off like that it's their own fault.
I like both the regular and the special edition design. The jump one looks stupid though.

90 bucks for the regular version, 120 for the super deluxe. Is that the most retarded price you've ever seen or what? Especially considering I can easily nab the regular version on Ebay for 20 bucks brand new, like I did with ME3. This is the Australian store btw. But the price is in US dollars. Stinking thieves. Oh look, and the only difference between the deluxe and super deluxe are the weekly MP booster packs, one each week for 20 weeks. That's laughable. for malaysia & Singapore,SG$89.9 for deluxe,69.9 for standard,119 for superD.

They increased the price here as well. It's the reason I won't pre-order the game, and will only buy it when it's way, way cheaper. DAI / ME3 deluxe was R$130 btw This is just EA being greedy.

I'd rather compare it with DAI, which is more recent. In Russia it's ~x1.5 from DAI release price tag and x1.7 if compared to DAI preorder. But then again - lots of $\EUR things are more expensive nowadays, current standart MEA price = most of the recent AAA titles here.

At this price I'd suggest you to just wait for a price drop or even better for the inevitable complete edition, at least for that prices you get the definitive edition. 90$ for a standard game is just a plain theft.
Here in Italy: Standard 59,99€ Deluxe 69,99€ Super deluxe 89,99€
Most of the people I spoke with who are hardcore ME fans will go for the Deluxe. There are simply any incentives in buying the Super Deluxe. I'm just gonna wait for the game to release and get it at the first price drop. I'm in no hurry. Though I totally understand people who want to play it asap. I don't understand though the people that buy the super deluxe edition.

It's an even bigger highway robbery because they're charging US dollars in Aussie store. That's what pisses me off even more. 60 Euro is 85 Aussie dollars. 90 US dollars is 120 Aussie dollars. This is just for the standard version. The super deluxe.........160 Aussie dollars. You know what just happened? Huh? Know what happens around here when they try to rip me off? EA:

£49.99 standard, £54.99 deluxe, £69.99 SD for UK players, so the basic version is triple what I paid for the entire original trilogy. £50 I think is about normal for a new game now though so acceptable to me. Given that it's only £5 more I'll probably go for the deluxe - added bonus that it has the best cover art with Rydad bum.

It's a shame they don't have the deluxe edition for PC on there or I'd be tempted to buy it and save myself a massive download on my awful connection (assuming buying the game in the box actually has the game data and not just a BS downloader program).

it's going to be Standard edition for me, in canadian currency. I mean , i know i'm so not dying to get shiny new skins for the MAKO Nomad for like $20 more. what concerns me more than game price are the system requirements . Have they yet released anything regarding those ? Here's the thread about the system requirements: bsn.boards.net/thread/315/mass-effect-andromeda-system-requirementsAnd no, nothing has been published. I went and bought (and subsequently returned) Battlefield 1 from Origin just to see if I could handle that. I could so I'm optimistic.

My guess is that it's due to a more aggressive competition between physical retailers. When they sell them digitally they're only competing with themselves, plus they probably see it as being worth a bit not to have to fiddle with discs and so on.

I don't know, it depends on how many games I will be playing when ME:A will be out. I have learned that waiting a bit before buying a game will only grant you benefits, that is a more stable game with more contents at a lower price. Moreover I like to know that if I am stuck in a game because of a bug, or because I am lost somewhere I will be able to find a solution and the more the game is old the more this will be easy. Therefore until I have no game to play I don't think I will never preorder it, or any other game (and probably not even buy at day1/week 1).

That is my understanding as well about the Super Deluxe version, aside from it being MP only content there is also the turn off that you can only open one of the 20 packs each week so then there is a chance you will be getting those packs while no longer playing the game.

Interesting I am in the US and for me it says that the Super Deluxe edition is 89.99 Deluxe is 62.99 and regular is 53.99 but then it looks like and I could be wrong but looks like they gave me a discount since I take part in their Origin access where I pay 5 something every month and I can play games for free I According to the Origin website, Origin Access gives you 10% off the price. So the price was probably 59.99, meaning you go about 6$ off, which would leave you somewhere in the 53$ line. Here Origin forces me to pay everything in Euros, and the price is just like all other premium AAA games: 59.99 for the regular edition. No surprise there. I would like you guys to remember, however, that this is one of the few games with ACTUAL 4K support (i.e. a game in which all the textures are naturally 4K rendered and not upscaled in any way). If they manage to keep stability in 4K gaming with the GTX 1080 or even 1070, it's a major achievement, one well worth the money (IMHO).

It's been like that with Origin for ages in the EU...
What happened was that digital subscriber services were reclassified as "services" rather than "goods" for tax purposes; this meant they were VATable at the point of receipt (e.g. European governments now get a cut on WoW subscriptions). However, this seems to have also caught digital downloads.
What EA/Origin seem to do is set their base price equivalent to the physical retail price; despite the fact that they've cut out the middle-man (retailer) and reduced overheads like packaging and distribution - because they're shifty like that. With the new law they have to add VAT at the point of receipt so they take their "base prices" and ramp them up by the relevant VAT rate; 20% in the UK.
So it's generally about 20% cheaper to buy the physical version from GAME or Amazon than it is to get the digital over Origin. Which is total bullshit and why I've never bought anything on Origin.
