It's effectively a poor man's AR app. You hold up your mobile device's camera and point it at the sky and it overlays constellations, star and nebulae names, planets, man-made satellites, orbits, whatever you want. Celestial atlas and star chart all in one. Works day or night.

UPDATE: Here's a screenshot after using the Search function for "M31 Andromeda". It's below the horizon for my place and time at the moment:

Though its more fun if you can find it yourself despite everpresent light pollution...

When I started my Astro-Photography hobby one of my first pics ever contained the Andromeda galaxy.
Its a relatively bad, over-processed pic since I was only starting to learn the settings of my lens and editing - but here you go:

I have a very good view on the Pleiades so hopefully I will be able to make a good shot of Andromeda in the coming weeks - once the full moon and fog is gone. :-/
