My favourite Bioware romances have been Morrigan, Anders, Isabela, Merrill and Solas... so clearly, love interests with hidden agendas and who may potentially betray me at some point down the line, seems to be my type? Bring it on Peebee... let me curse your sudden, but inevitable, betrayal!

I don't really get that vibe from her. I've been associating her with Isabella or Morrigan in my mind since we got to learn a bit more. A bit like the single-mindedness of Morrigan concerning her objectives (with more remorse than Morrigan when she realized that she's been extremely lucky not to kill everyone) with Isabella's easy going personality. I do see her joining you for ulterior motives, who doesn't really, apart from your very first companion in pretty much every Bioware game?
I've been imagining her joining you because she wants to make a big discovery and Ryder is the one person that can bring her to the most interesting stuff whom also tend to happen to be in the most dangerous places. That she's going to be shady? I'd say that's a given considering the type of missions you're going to do everyone joining you voluntarily is going to have a "shady" past and/or goals but that doesn't necessarily mean she's going to be nefarious in a Solas or Anders way. Is it March 21st yet?

Besides Isabela, I don't think we've ever had a f/f romance like that..? IDK it'd just be really cool.

The only f/f romance I played was with Liara and she was as tied to the plot line as she could be. In my mind, PB is going to be bi at 99.9% and with her interest and expertise in Remnant tech she's definitively going to be plot relevant not as much as Liara who carried almost by herself the plotline in the Trilogy. (I mean without her Shepard would still be dead and I very much doubt anyone would've found the plans for the Crucible). Looking back at DA:i all the squadmates are somewhat plot relevant at one point or another, I get the feeling they did the same with Andromeda. We'll see about that soon enough I guess.

Peebee will probably be plot relevant, though. I just really like the idea of her being shady and betraying us.

Fair enough Well for DA:I maybe not all but most are plot relevant but of course you need to have them in your squad during specific quests. But they aren't as interchangeable plot-wise as most humans are in the ME trilogy. ME2 was pretty terrible on that front except for Miranda they were all pretty interchangeable... But to go back to the subject I can't wait to discover why PB is such a Lone Wolf.

Or maybe it's part of the job description. I can imagine that an Indiana Jones type career wouldn't be great for maintaining friendships and relationships. There's also the possibility it's related back to her family...

Indeed the job is a pretty solitary one, at first, I thought that she was partnered with someone (ref: 17 minutes of Peebee's Loyalty Mission ) but was betrayed and because of that, she doesn't let people get too close to her. But that seems a bit too easy compared to most of the back stories of previous Bioware squadmates. I don't doubt that whatever her backstory is it's going to be a good one (for drama of course ^^).

Maybe it'll be like Leliana's backstory a little with some twists and turns. It'd be funny if it turned out it was mostly Peebee's actions that caused the rivalry, not her ex's.

In one of the articles, the writer estimated that Peebee will be our shady Solas/Anders-type squadmate. I'm ready... SourcePeebee Scott Ryder could not seem to resist flirting with Peebee; the option came up multiple times in our chat, which seemed to be the first opportunity the pair had had to really get to know each other. Peebee was very open about her life and experiences – I won’t spoil what she actually said – but much more guarded about her immediate plans, even as she asked Ryder for help with them. I don’t know how she would have reacted to Scott’s flirting because I felt I could not make myself vulnerable to someone clearly hiding a potentially dangerous secret. She might be building a Reaper or something. I refuse to have another Anders or Solas moment. Huh, a Solas type. That would make me interested in her if true.

The fanbase would be so pissed if we get betrayed by someone named "Peebee" Yup Honestly? Peebee doesn't seem like the type to have any long term plans. Truth told, i'd be surprised if she has any plans beyond "Explore, learn, blow shit up."

Honestly? Peebee doesn't seem like the type to have any long term plans. Truth told, i'd be surprised if she has any plans beyond "Explore, learn, blow shit up." If anything, Peebee actually being a Solas/Anders-type seems quite credible. Given how over-the-top and spontaneous she is, it's almost impossible to take her seriously at all. It could be diversionary tactics on her part while she actually uses the Andromeda Initiative to get what she's really after. If it were actually all an act on Peebee's part, I'd be even more impressed by her character as well as her motivations. That certainly would provide a vast amount of context for Peebee's actions in her loyalty mission and why she seems to have a total disregard for authority and the chain of command. Who knows if BioWare will actually do that, but I certainly wouldn't be against it. Nothing hurts quite as much as being stabbed in the back by one of your alleged allies.

I'll be honest; I think the article writer is wrong, pure and simple. I doubt PeeBee, the plucky and happy go lucky gal, is some insidious rogue.
I'm guessing, as we've heard before, she's just guarded and slow to fully warm. More Isabela (sans betrayal) than Solas.

Yeah, I kinda get the feeling that while this wooer isn't as bad as, say, the Game Informer Show interview a while back, he's in that ballpark.

Anybody remember "Blackwall"? I take all of BioWare's pre-launch marketing on these characters with a grain of salt.

She could simultaneously be funny and adventurous while also mcfucking betraying us. It's just... a lie by omission.

I'd enjoy that approach a little less, though, as she more or less would be depicted as a wild dog. Loyal to no one. Enemy to everyone. At least with the other approach if it was all an act, there would be a lot more depth to her character, in my opinion. Of course, I guess the "lie by omission" approach wouldn't be as bad if you could convince her to change her mind. However, that's merely retreading Isabela's character in DAII.
