Sara Ryder 'SisRyder' (Official Thread)

yeah most of my playthrough's have been Sara's I think I've only done 2 Scott' s so far the other 6 have been as Sara. Both my next 2 will be Sara's as well.

They're 22, actually.

What answer did he give coma Ryder, if asked how dad died or what the cause of death was? His answer to the other Ryder was like a hero. Is like a hero a cause of death? I would be curious why he didn't tell Ryder what the cause of death was instead deflecting the question.

given it was likely done off screen if he did I'm not sure we'll ever know. That's just likely a blank we'll have to fill in for ourselves.

Bit late to this thread but figured I'd contribute. I have a habit of playing the female leads whenever there is a choice, so yes, I've been exclusively FemShep and FemRyder for all ME's with no intention of doing otherwise. Sara's VA did a solid job and can sound surprisingly like Jen Hale (FemShep) at times.

I'm probably one of few who actually like default Sara, although I'm currently playing a custom one. My first ever playthrough was Default Sara as almost exclusively 'professional' responses. Currently adopting the Logical/Sarcastic (Top Right vs Bottom Left) approach as it makes the most sense. She's dorky and fun but not incapable of showing her thinking-chops when it comes to crunch-time. Professional was nice, albeit very straight-edge - one for when you want to take things seriously, which was good for a first venture into Andromeda.

Having giggled through various 'fun moment' compilations (which almost always tend to have Male Ryder for some reason), I can say hand on heart that I typically prefer FemRyders VA for most of those moments (and in general). MalRyder's good for the straight talking but I just love how airy and lightheaded FemRyder sounds for some of the funny moments, or how she can sound so much more serious during the down-to-business parts.

Either way, both did a good job - most complaints are primarily restricted to the models and animations (Sara loses here, Scott fared much better - she still pulls some of the most nonsensical face animations ever, even after the post-release animation fix which I assume focused mostly on her).

Either way, I'd be more than happy to see more of both characters - but it's a shame... I feel any new Mass Effect in the works will probably do what Andromeda did to the Milky Way - nuke it and leave it in the hands of occasional references (if at all).

I have not played her. I just prefer to play males. One thing I’m curious about is how she talks about herself and how others describe her. If you read up on her she seems to actually have a background. Alliance, teamed with archeologists, traveled to exotic locations, learned science, got fascinated with exploration blah blah. Do they actually go into that in conversations or is her background as blank as Scott’s?

Scott it’s like he joined the military....oh and he has webbed toes. Arcturus relay has a unsavory reputation give him a unsavory background, something, anything.

Scott definitely got the short end of the stick in terms of background. He ended up a glorified guard for a mass relay. They shouldve written in a more involved backstory for him, like he was in the field training to be an N7, but politics regarding his father destroyed his chances.
