I'm really looking forward to having a new salarian squad member. I always thought it was weird how few were featured in the original trilogy considering that they were one of the three council races. Mordin was the only one we could take along. Don't get me wrong, he was great, but I wanted more exploration of the species in general. I'm glad they put a lot of thought into this new guy.
On a related note, I hope this guy is an asexual romance. We've had romances in previous games where there's no explicit sex, but it was always left up to the player to decide if that meant there was or wasn't any. A romance arc with someone from a species that feels no sexual desire (except sometimes with asari?) would be an interesting thing to explore. I think it could shed a lot of light onto salarian culture, the way romance is largely seperate from sex.

Quieter than either Joker or Mordin. Joker flew via talent and instinct. This salarian is probably very different: quick calculations, numbers, perfect routes. Brain vs Heart sorta thing. Probably not STG. It'd be good to here about other sections of Salarian life. Could, perhaps, be female. It would be a good position for one, safely aboard the ship and in a position of power. And yet, it would still be very dangerous, so. Of all this, I'm most confident about the 'young' thing. |

Yeah... That could get weird. I mean, if salarians live to be 40 years old on average and we take modern human life spans of about 80 years into account (I suspect most players will do this instead of the futuristic 150 years) then a 16 year old salarian would be the equivalent to a 32 year old human. That means they'd basically be the age of Shepard at an age where a human is just learning how to drive a car. That would probably be a thing to gloss over in a romance unless they can frame it as a sort of reverse asari life span talk.

EDI does mention in ME3 that the Salarians are the only species who really embrace the whole transhuman concept, rather than ban it. Stories featuring a resurrected and augmented "Four-Billion-Credit Man" like Shepard would definitely appeal to them. |

So, the Nvidia presentation today (probably) gave us our first taste of what our pilot sounds like! It's only about two seconds long, starting at the 40 second mark.
I think our pilot is a male Salarian. Both Dalatrass Linron and Counciler Esheel had a… definite feminine tone to them. Of course, this is two sentences in two seconds of our pilot, and thus far too early to tell. But I'd guess male. [GLEE] I'm very happy to have this.
