The ART of The MASS EFFECT Universe. Studying concept art, trying to get background and lore to create ideas for my story that centers around Shepard/Jack post ME 3 "Breath Scene". Have a solid idea for a story, but need to write the main antagonist and I'm having trouble coming up with someone who would make sense. Want them to be someone tied to Jack's past.
My first ideas was one of Jack's sisters, her gang family....But they were all murdered at some point. Does anyone have any ideas that would make sense?
Maybe someone from her Asari family.....?

Just finished Fairy Tale by Stephen King and it gets a wholehearted "meh" out of 10. Book is good until halfway through, then it's like wading through chewing gum. I don't need 20 descriptions about the consistency of uncooked meat, I need plot. Also, what the hell was this ending? King has written better stuff in the past :/

Depik. The race of catlike assassins is feared galaxy-wide. Few living people have seen them, as the sight of one is usually the last thing its victim sees.
Clan politics on the Depik home world of Khatash are complicated, with clans jockeying for contracts and the prestige and wealth they bring. There's only one rule: Depik do not kill other Depik. Ever.
When Reow is implicated in killing the Depik governor, though, her clan is declared anathema. Her four offspring are placed under interdict - they are to be killed on sight - and Del, Flame, Blade, and Death must flee with their molly, Susa.
With Reow dead and Hunters tracking them across the galaxy, will they live long enough to find the real killer, or will they find themselves assassinated by their own kind?

Started Reading book 3 Children of Memory by Adrian Tchaikovsky's which are the follow up to: Children of Time and Children of Ruin. "When Earth failed, it sent out ark ships to establish new outposts. So the spaceship Enkidu and its captain, Heorest Holt, carried its precious human cargo to a potential new paradise. Generations later, this fragile colony has managed to survive on Imir, eking out a hardy existence. Yet life is tough, and much technological knowledge has been lost.
Then strangers appear, on a world where everyone knows their neighbour. They possess unparalleled knowledge and thrilling new technology – for they have come from the stars, to help humanity’s lost colonies. But not all is as it seems on Imir.
As the visitors lose track of time and memories, they discover the colonists fear unknown enemies and Imir’s own murky history. Neighbour turns against neighbour, as society fractures in the face of this terrifying foe. Perhaps some other intelligence is at work, toying with colonists and space-faring scientists alike? But not all questions are so easily answered – and the price may be the colony itself."

Yeah I mean I don't want any spoilers, but feel free to lmk what you think of it (i.e. whether you like it or not)- I enjoyed the first two enough that I'm going to read the 3rd one pretty much no matter what, so even if you absolutely hate it its not like that's going to dissuade me from reading it...

Well I am sitting on the fence a bit, the storyline is interesting, but I am not liking where they have gone with it ATM in terms of some of the ways they have implemented the "how" that some things have been done. Without spoiling I can't really express it any better.

OK so literally just finished it or did I? It's that kind of book and parts of it near the end utterly did my head in as I am just of average intelligence is possibly the best way I can put it. The first 50% was good/interesting but I struggled to understand what was going on but you are meant to struggle with it I think. The new kids on the block in terms of the animals found on a particular planet were difficult to relate to and again I think they were meant to be and that was a sign of good writing for me personally. The last 50% and especially the last 20% was wonderfully done as well and whilst it broke my brain at times the concepts etc. were fascinating and the very end absolutely nailed it, well for me it did. I rated it 5 stars, even if I had hated the first 80% the ending would have got it 5 stars from me. I am so keen to see what you think of it q5tyhj

I'm not sure what's going on with that, if you Google "Children of Memory release date" it says Nov 24, but on Amazon (and Barnes and Noble) it says pre-order only with a release date of Jan 31. Very frustrating.

At the top of a tall mountain, there lives a dragon. And the dragon is the master of all animals. Okay, let's rewind that. Tom Ormson is a dragon shifter, the scion of a line that was created to rule both Chinese and Norse dragons. But he doesn't want the job. He co-owns a diner with his wife, Kyrie, who is about to deliver their first child. In fact, they just got married, when the entire shifter-world, which centers on their diner goes insane. You see, it is a time of Ragnarok, which means all of the shifter clans are in turmoil, with changing leadership. And the lion clan, to which Kyrie belongs has just lost its leader. Poor Rafiel, too, is tormented by very strange dreams and premonitions. Also, the Queen of the Norse dragons has woken, and wants a word with the Great Sky Dragon. Hold on to your hats. A wild ride is about to begin, with Tom, Kyrie and their friends at the center of it. When it ends, the world will never be the same again.

It looks like all versions- Kindle/e-book, paperback, hard cover, audio-book- are only available to pre-order, to be released Jan 31. At least, on Amazon and Barnes and Noble; I figured if those two didn't have it available for immediate order, other places wouldn't either. I suppose I could keep on eye on Ebay. I could also get a VPN and try ordering from a different location, although I'm not sure how that would work with my mailing/delivery address still being in the US. It would be easier if I was currently in the middle of a book or series and could just wait it out, but I've been needing a new book or series for a while now and I really want to read Children of Memory, since I enjoyed the first two so much (the first one especially).

Maybe the release date will change especially for the digital copy, maybe there was an issue with the print run and they were obligated to release both at the same time? Yeah I thought about suggesting a VPN, not sure your physical address would preclude you ordering it that way say from Australia but I am not very knowledgeable about that sort of stuff. Maybe Iakus can suggest something.

For years, frontier lawman turned big-city senator Waxillium Ladrian has hunted the shadowy organization the Set―with his late uncle and his sister among their leaders―since they started kidnapping people with the power of Allomancy in their bloodlines. When Detective Marasi Colms and her partner Wayne find stockpiled weapons bound for the Outer City of Bilming, this opens a new lead. Conflict between Elendel and the Outer Cities only favors the Set, and their tendrils now reach to the Elendel Senate―whose corruption Wax and Steris have sought to expose―and Bilming is even more entangled.
After Wax discovers a new type of explosive that can unleash unprecedented destruction and realizes that the Set must already have it, an immortal kandra serving Scadrial’s god, Harmony, reveals that Bilming has fallen under the influence of another god: Trell, worshipped by the Set. And Trell isn’t the only factor at play from the larger Cosmere―Marasi is recruited by offworlders with strange abilities who claim their goal is to protect Scadrial...at any cost.
Wax must choose whether to set aside his rocky relationship with God and once again become the Sword that Harmony has groomed him to be. If no one steps forward to be the hero Scadrial needs, the planet and its millions of people will come to a sudden and calamitous ruin.
