Just picked up Findlay and O'Rourke's Power and Plenty: Trade, War, and the World Economy in the Second Millennium after several recommendations.

Nothing atm. But, planning WoT re-read once we finally get the official studio announcement Harriett teased back in April.

Currently reading 2, depending on the mood: Eddings: The Redemption of Althalus -for the first time, as I somehow missed out on this younger Neil Gaiman: Neverwhere - for the 4th time.. one of my favourites Hmm and some home decor magazines. Oh, and those who liked Stardust as a movie (Generalxiv, and anyone else, too): I recommend reading the book! By Neil Gaiman. It's longer, the film left out so much and cut corners, and well, it's one of those cases again where 'the book is better'. I'm a fan of Gaiman's.

I'm in the middle of a few books at the moment. Currently: - Dragon Age: Asunder - David Gaider
- Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass series #3) - Sarah J. Maas
- Frozen Tides (Falling Kingdoms series #4) - Morgan Rhodes
- The Last Goodnight - Howard Blum
- Boston Jacky (Bloody Jack series #11) - L.A. Meyer
- Assassin's Creed: Black Flag - Oliver Bowden
I mostly read on my Kindle but I usually buy books and/or check out books from the library on occasion. Honestly if anyone has any recommendations pass them my way. I love trying out new authors / genres / etc.

I bought "And I Darken" by Kiersten White a couple days ago and read a few pages yesterday, so far it's a good read.

Since I was in a scifi mood, I read Ender's Game, and I'm currently reading The Martian by Andy Weir. Ender's Game was...huh? The Martian makes me feel like I'm not nerdy and clever enough lol
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo was so good. I'm waiting for the sequel (Crooked Kingdom) to come out.

Currently reading Mr. Fox by Helen Oyeyemi. Excellent so far, definitely worth looking up if you like literary fantasy/magical realism. (For the record, I think the conceptual genre division is pretty silly, but that's probably not a subject for this thread ...) Definitely enjoying it more than White Is For Witching, the only other thing by Oyeyemi that I've read. Glad I decided to give her another shot.

Doing a refresher course, not that I need any, for HH's next outing due in Nov; Shadow of Victory where I hope the villains get theirs. DW had said he wanted to move HH out some years ago but his plans were deferred and changed. I'm hoping he would change his mind because it's going to be hard to read of her going even if she went in battle. I'd rather he end HH on a positive, not roses in the garden or anything, but good. If he wants to pick up HH again, he could do it with her children.

Stardust is a great book, and only an ok movie. It's no American Gods or Anansi Boys, but still a great book. Totally agreed, I liked Anansi Boys and American Gods more, as well. I guess Neverwhere will just always stay as my favourite by him, as it was the first one. Nice to see someone else who has read Gaiman, I don't know many people who have - I got my younger brother into reading his books, too, though.

I find this one in the second series to be way more enjoyable than any of the books in the first trilogy.

In Archive of our own, I recently finished reading femHawke/Varric fanfic by Damalur, Greatly Approved. This made me seriously change my head canon. Also some femBrosca/Alistair stuff is really good. And there is one really good Mass Effect fanfic about femShepard/Garrus by Fistful_of_Gamma_Rays, Jaws that bite Claws that catch. To find good fanfic in AO3, basically enter subject (or pairing) in search field and filter by kudos.

Nice to see someone else who has read Gaiman, I don't know many people who have - I got my younger brother into reading his books, too, though. Neil Gaiaman has shown up on recommended lists for years so I finally gave him a whirl a few months ago. I read Neverwhere, Stardust and American Gods. Not sure what to think of him. He's very...whimsical, I guess? He's like the literary version of Tim Burton. I just have a hard time relating to his novels as his protagonists are too credulous. They just sort of go along with all the weirdness and don't really question it or their sanity very often. Maybe the credulousness is a literary device that isn't working for me. I might give him a go again in the future but had to take a break for now. I had totally forgotten I've read American gods. It was very good! At the moment I'm reading some Dragon Age fanfic and I'm amazed how well written fic there is. Which fanfic have you read and enjoyed? Just finished: Just started: Oh, let us know how you like the Long Way to A Small, Angry Planet. I really enjoyed it. The many armed Dr. Chef is my favorite.
