So how many GOTY awards do think ME:A will win?

If CDPR isn't coming out with a game, or Rockstar isn't releasing another GTA installment, it's got to be Bioware. Nobody else is releasing such epic games as these three.

Pretty much. For all of Planescape: Torment's reputation it has little more than a cult following, and I doubt that will be enough to carry a "spiritual sequel" through a win. Not to mention that the more I hear of Tides of Numenera the more I think it sounds a bit too... hyped up. That is not to say that it's going to be a failure, but it wouldn't surprise me if it ended up biting off more than it can chew. I hear they brought Patrick Rothfuss over to the writing team, and based on what I've heard of him that does not sound encouraging.

Bethesda might also take the award by storm with a surprise release. Their brand name alone can get them far: Fallout 4 lost quite resoundingly to Wild Hunt, but it still made second place even with all the disappointment it stirred up. So, in short, ME:A has a chance of winning, but only if somehow it manages to beat Red Dead Redemption 2 and anything Bethesda may or may not cook up.

Well, what really surprised me is that DA:O got beaten by CoD. :-O

I'm not an expert on FPS, but I *think* the two Modern Warfare were considered quite good/great games, at least based on comments in discussions about recent FPs.

I dunno, I played MW1 and it left me unimpressed. But I'm not an expert on FPS either.

I meant "bizarre" as a compliment. I'm not saying that Journey or TWD didn't deserve the award, just pointing out that they are not the sorts of games you would expect to get this sort of recognition. It is a pleasant surprise, if anything.

Exactly this. I sunk many hours into Modern Warfare 1 and 2. These games were made with Infinity Ward, which is the present day Respawn Entertainment. The Call of Duties back then actually had good, intense campaigns, along with addicting co-op missions and multiplayer. It provided some of the best bang-for-back for its time. They were not rehashes like the present day versions are. 

They were legitimate game of the year nominees. Sad to see that COD games lost their magic touch, but that's what tends to happen to annualized franchises 

I'm definitely looking forward to Horizon Zero Dawn. I'm praying to C'thulhu that it's good.
