I'm Fairly New To The Mass Effect Series, After Years of wanting to play it I finally got around to picking it up at the steam sale. I Have played for about 10 hours In MS1 and I'm absolutely Falling In Love With This game, I can say confidently I am a fan. But this is not why I'm here, I have a few questions about the Mass effect series. (Sorry if I put this in the wrong forums section, there is no "Community Help" area)
1. Are there any Special Perks/Advantages Or Differences Between Choosing a Male Or Female Sheperd in MS2? 2. Is it smart to NOT import my MS1 Character if I want a new Shepard?

Your better off importing a character, as many things will carry over. And not to spoil it for you, BUT you'll still be able to pick a different character at the start of ME:2 and ME:3 with an imported save. I've no idea about the first question......I've only played a Male.

Hi, welcome to mass effect!
I also sat on the Trilogy for a long time, before finally starting to play it a few months ago, and loved it.
I like playing with both male and female. The romance options and voicing differ (there are a lot more romantic options in ME2), but there are no extra advantages beyond that. Normally, I also play them as different alignments, because the voicing in this game is quite good, and captures a very different personality on both a male and a female.
Importing your save is always nice (if a bit of a PITA on PC), because you will see reactions on what you did in the first game. You can change almost everything about your Shepard once you imported him or her into ME2, like class and appearance.
All and all, I would suggest playing through the entire Trilogy with the same protagonist, and then starting a new run (even a parallel one to see the changes) if you want to try something different for class, alignment, choices made, gender, etc
