The VGA gameplay ultimately redeems the trailer, the lack of E3 footage, and all the ill feels.
I AM EXCITED FOR MASS EFFECT!
CONGRATULATIONS

I was squealing! I loved everything I saw...minus maybe the facial animations. Those were a bit weird. Other than that, I loved the visuals, the combat...THE MOVING PONYTAIL!

Back on the old BSN boards before we knew anything but those Reddit Survey leaks about the game premise, I said "It's going to be the Batman Beyond of Mass Effect" and well, it looks flashier, faster, younger and somehow not worse than Mass Effect. I'm on board with this.

I admit I was disappointed in the lack of hard cover.
However, I think it adopts ME3 Multiplayer roll/slide-outta-the-way tactics to make up for it. Hopefully.

But i agree that i didn't saw any halo/inquisition-ish things from tis trailer.

It did? Other than the alien races, it didn't look or feel like Mass Effect to me. What would the game have to be doing in order for it to look or feel like Mass Effect to you then? ME1 era, ME2 evocation? Games can evolve and develop as they should in this ever changing cultural and media climate and still retain their identity. Genuinely interested as to what you feel the game is doing to stop it being Mass Effect for you.

Game didn't feel Mass Effect for me either... however... in a marvelous way. Well I hate action, I only like RPGs where you choose actions from a menu or issue them with your mouse. But between the abomination that was DAI (awful RPG, awful action) and action then it is better go full action like ME:A seems to have gone. I remember playing Inquisition and thinking "what the hell, I can jump but can't do jumping attacks" or "why can't I fadestep slash enemies in combos?" and ME:A seem to have a better identity when it comes to gameplay, go full cool button awesome. I can expect the game is going complete frustration after launch, but for now it seems better than Inquisition, it seems their team is better than DA's, but then again DA team is working with them... perhaps they could learn something? If DA franchise is not going PoE/Tyranny/DOS way then, by all means, go ME:A way. If gameplay actually looks like the trailer in the final version I take back what I said that Bioware can't do action. When I played Jade Empire I was sure they should stay away from action, FOREVER, when I played Mass Effect 1 I knew they were also useless on the shooter front, but I didn't care because I hated those styles and thus didn't care for those games. Now they have no good RPG games then they better learn to do good acion, and as far as ME goes, they seem to have learned. On a side note, I don't care much for ME franchise. Played (the three games) once (in 2015), now I'm doing a "screenshot modded playthrough" of ME3. I couldn't care less about the direction the franchise goes but fortunately for ME fans I'm betting you're bound to be happier than DA fans. Just please keep your team away from DA, I don't want to see Lyrium Machine guns in DAverse again.

Combat looks like it has potential. Still concerned by lack of cover and combat rolling (I hate games where you just walk into a hail of bullets as if invulnerable). I just pray that this doesn't turn into another combat grind fest like DAI or SWTOR in which you fight the same 10 enemy encounters with no tactical variation every 500 feet. Pretty animations are nice but it'll lose it's luster really quick if the combat is stale and repetitive where difficulty equals more enemy health, armor, and shield ratings.
Cutscene animations and lipsynching needs A LOT of work.
Overall I'd say my impression is lukewarm. Resource scanning? Good grief not again. Nomad? Besides traversing point A to B I'm really wondering what the point was...particularly given the amount of resources expended developing it...I really hope there are fast travel points to avoid spending 10-20% of the game traveling to various destinations. "Elaborate" crafting system...I'm down with it if it actually provides a vast number of differing weapons and armor appearances...but it needs to be significantly better than DAI.

It looks damn fun. Those biotic teleportation and dodges really makes it seem energetic. In the Shepard trilogy the best combat encounter I remembered was Vanguard vs Tela Vasir from ME2 LotSB, and the game does seem to take that direction.

"Elaborate" crafting system...I'm down with it if it actually provides a vast number of differing weapons and armor appearances...but it needs to be significantly better than DAI. That's the inherent danger of implementing a particular feature just becuase fans love it. I do get this impression that the Mako is back but... why is it except "we wanted it" or as always the fans thought they wanted it becuase they liked ME1 which doesn't translate to a new game that focuses on different things. At least it's not like a mount in DA:I this time. It actually speeds traversal up and the squad has banter along the way. But yes, emphasis that they need a lot of work on cutscene animations and especially the mouth animations. It just does not look good enough and "polish" to me makes it sound like BioWare considers the features to be good groundwork, but those facial animations really need more insight than just a little touch-up. I'm talking about radically changing it to make it work, because it looks like there has been developed a system for it that simply isn't good enough.

Combat looks like it has potential. Still concerned by lack of cover and combat rolling (I hate games where you just walk into a hail of bullets as if invulnerable). Actually if you look carefully you can see that they write on screen "Take cover to avoid damage and recharge shields" during gameplay so cover is still in. Also there is still active pause so I think everyone will play how they want to play .

If you look closely - there is no combat roll, instead the character uses a dash animation for the dodge.

Dunno guys.
Cons: Same dialogue option (at least the one we actually saw the symbol of) than Dragon Age Inquisition. Same method of "mineral gathering" from Dragon Age Inquisition. Face animations super creepy ---- Pros: Drack, and the Female turian companion! (fuck yeah!) Graphics, hot damn! ---- Undecided: Crafting, we saw waaay too little
Does it feel Mass Effect for me? No it doesn't. (I'm sorry if you feel my opinion is not correct)

It did? Other than the alien races, it didn't look or feel like Mass Effect to me. Same here. Krogans amd Turians in FrostBite, DAI-esque landscapes and assets, horrible female running animation (don't think it's DAI one), combat is a casualized\flashy battlefield\ battlefront with some heavy Destiny tones. They are missing the point, I'm afraid. DAI worked because it had been a direct successor of the DA2 and DAO, same world (but bigger), same characters (but better new engine models), same places (carefully transitioned to the new engine). MEA does not have that luxury. And no - slaping N7 here and there does not make it 'Mass Effect', not just yet. PS4 demo had something that could possibly remind us of Collectors' tech. Now why am I looking at all those generic frostbite sceneries? Why should I bloody care? Because we need a mount - that's why. Customizable. Sexy. Reminding us of ME1. I bet we get all the 'mount issues' along with it. Dismount to scan, Dismount to hear party banter (I mean...we have party banters, no?..), dismount to pick up a mushroom. I prair that it's less useless than DAI horse.
