It did? Other than the alien races, it didn't look or feel like Mass Effect to me. Same here. Krogans amd Turians in FrostBite, DAI-esque landscapes and assets, horrible female running animation (don't think it's DAI one), combat is a casualized\flashy battlefield\ battlefront with some heavy Destiny tones. They are missing the point, I'm afraid. DAI worked because it had been a direct successor of the DA2 and DAO, same world (but bigger), same characters (but better new engine models), same places (carefully transitioned to the new engine). MEA does not have that luxury. And no - slaping N7 here and there does not make it 'Mass Effect', not just yet. PS4 demo had something that could possibly remind us of Collectors' tech. Now why am I looking at all those generic frostbite sceneries? Why should I bloody care? The fact that they're missing a point is entirely subjective. Several people said in different forum that it feels like Mass Effect for them. While there's no right and wrong, since we all have different opinion, saying they're missing the point is a bit exaggerated. It'd depend on how many people will think it feels like a Mass Effect game in the end.

It looked and felt exactly like they were trying to do ME1 again, but without all of the weird problems that game had.
If that doesn't feel like Mass Effect to you guys, then I have no words.

It looks like the kind of game I would love to sink hours in, like the previous ME games. I just hope the crafting doesn't get out of hand and that there's more to the maps than some tough boss here and resource points there. I want some stories, some reasons to go and explore besides exploring. I don't mind exploring a map to encounter secrets but I don't want that to be the majority of what I do outside of missions.
Aside from those concerns I am worried, because I don't wanna get into the hype train but part of me says I'll like this even more than ME2

It looked like Mass Effect to me. Combat reminded me of me3 multiplayer for sure. I agree with @hanshotfirst concerning the facial animations. I agree with the single player feeling more like multiplayer sentiment. Other than the facial animations I would like to know how many "powers" you get. Right now when I look at the wheel screenshots I saw 2 ammo powers and 3 other "locked" areas.

Good Question hammerstorm Unfortunately I can only answer for myself. I don't get the Mass Effect feel for various reasons. First of I feel extremely detached from the original setting, secondly, i see a bunch of Dragon Age resources or ideas used, this is not bad per se, but I enjoyed the difference between both IPs. Regarding combat, I cannot tell if I consider it or not "mass-effecty". I didn't feel hype either, and believe me, I felt hype for everything ME related (even the teasers of ME:A). One thing to consider though; in order to really know if it's "mass effecty" enough or not, is to play it. I have preoredered the game and I will play it, because I have faith in the team working on the game. Hope this answers your question, have a good day!

I don't get why we can't have a second set of mappable powers, if this turns out to be true.

The more I look at the armor design Ryder has the more it looks like Locke's armor from Halo 5.
Gameplay looked ridiculously lifeless as well. Enemies don't seem to recoil or react to getting shot/smashed/slammed at all. Not to mention that Sharpshooter just casually walking away to find cover instead of sprinting or rolling.
Seems like nitpicks but the definition of a cluster pluck is a a lot of tiny problems piling up into a big one.

Does it feel Mass Effect for me? No it doesn't. (I'm sorry if you feel my opinion is not correct) I see this in different places and I don't understand, what IS Mass Effect for you guys? What is it that it lack? This in a genuine question. I mean, some people say that the combat don't feel like mass effect and I'm not sure what they mean, the combat was different in ME1, 2 and 3. Not sure how to put it. Let's take the recent Dishonor 2. They are built on different engines (UE3 vs IDtech5), things happen in different places, but each and every detail screams 'Hi! I'm from Dishonored' (and no - I'm not only talking about the 'genuine Dishonored toilets' here). Inquizition had also improved upon existing style& art, while offering more variety and larger zones. Varric is the same Varric, but with better textures. Redcliff is the same Redcliff, hell even Stormcoast is the same Stormcoast from DAA - just with the 'real' graphics. But as I look on those demos - I see generic 'planet' landscapes and generic characters that do not tie in with the previous games. E.g. take a look at the 'evil' lady - her outfit reminds me heavily of Mars\Technomancer setting, with some 'Inquisition' influence (and she uses the 'throne' animation). Does it look like any outfit we've seen in ME? Nope. Combat does not look like ME3MP to me, it looks more like reskinned (and casualized battlefield) + some Destiny. I know that ME had borrowed from Gears of War and many other sources too - but they ended up with some kind of identity. Those flashy-mashy scenes don't remind me about ME combat. Then what remains? May be it's ME-related music (so dear to my heart and to my ears)? Well, I'll tell you where this tune at 3+ mins 'lands' me. It's here:

You say there is no remind of previous games but i believe you are wrong. Take a look at the Krogan or the Turian, how can they not be a remind of previous games? Or the open areas exploration, how can that not be a remind of ME1? Sure the scenario is a lot prettier(and less empty) here than in ME1 thanks to the engine but that screams of planet exploration which was one of the main points from the first game. Also the combat, apart from that Biotic Shield and the jetpack everything else were old powers: Incinerate, flamethrower, Charge, Tactical Cloak etcetera. All that with a fast paced action which was characteristical from ME3MP where unless you played on Bronze there was no way to just bunker down and stay on cover all the match.

It does bear a certain ME1 feel to it, I do love that we get to explore worlds now, that arent just palletswapped barren rocks(even tough likely most of the planets youd expect to find in the galaxy are barren lifeless rocks or gas giants) but actually look like real alien worlds. With TREES and PLANTS and WATER.
This is how exploration in ME1 should have been... oh man.

It did? Other than the alien races, it didn't look or feel like Mass Effect to me. The "XP +10" popup and the inventory reminds me a bit of ME1. But yeah the combat is like the opposite of ME1 and the overall tone and atmosphere is not like it at all. The art style is also not Mass Effect at all and it transitions into how the UI looks like something from Sonic Boom.

I was squealing! I loved everything I saw...minus maybe the facial animations. Those were a bit weird. Other than that, I loved the visuals, the combat...THE MOVING PONYTAIL! That's what tripped me up as well. Was very impressed by everything else, but the speaking animations were just off. Maybe they're still fleshing that out though.

I love dash dodging in ME3 MP so I think I'll be fine. I also remember there was less cover in ME1. At least for me, I rarely used cover on ME1. But we did see Ryder briefly use cover in the gameplay.
My fear is an MMO-like lack of staged levels - the first fight scene had few interesting platforms and seemed to be an open space. I prefer corridors and platforms and more....structures, I guess. I know people don't like corridors but I mean as a controlled level design, it helps distinguish SP from MMO for me.

The VGA gameplay ultimately redeems the trailer, the lack of E3 footage, and all the ill feels. I AM EXCITED FOR MASS EFFECT! CONGRATULATIONS "I'm Aaryn Flynn and this is my favorite thread on BSNuf."

To me interiors looks like Mass Effect (2) to me, but exteriors not so much (more like Halo with DAI). I think the game will be delayed. I hope I'm wrong, but if that means more polish that's fine I guess.

I disagree, it never felt to me like the ME games had a defining atmosphere or tone, especially since every game had a different set of these things, as for the art style it looks very much like Mass Effect, the only thing here is that we're seeing a lot of new things we've never seen before, and it's taking over things from the past, like the new mechs, the new nomad, the new tempest, etc. If anything, the settlement we saw in the trailer, and the small glimpse of the Nexus gave me huge mass effect vibes in terms of art style and design.
