Granted it's only early days with him and Vetra in the Nomad but what I've heard from him so far has soured me somewhat towards him. He pretty much is a judgmental Sally towards Vetra, giving her shit saying she has no moral authority to stand on seeing as she dragged her sister to Andromeda. He told Vetra he was talking to Sid, Sid said stuff to him, she told him to rightfully STFU and keep your nose outta her family affairs. That's what I've heard so far, maybe it gets better. 

Nah it was Vetra who was telling Liam to STFU, keep his nose outta her family affairs, don't talk to her sister. Won't lie, angry Vetra was kinda hot.

What I personally find a bit stupid Ryder does not interfere or says to Liam that he should drop it or STFU in my case Scott and Vetra he remains silent all the time.
Sure she is Badass and i love Vetra for it but if someone would talk to my girlfriend like this in the real life I would not remain silent.

They had that option in DA:I to choose what to say in response to party banter in the field, which for the game's many flaws that was a pretty cool idea.
