You think you are the majority? TLJ's historic dropoff and Solo being a box office bomb followed by Lucasfilm putting the Obi-Wan film on hold corroborates Glenn's claim. TLJ was far from a flop and Solo did decent. Did it make what they expected? No but a flop means it didn’t even break even. They are less confident because it didn’t make what they hoped hence putting the Obi-Wan movie on hold. As I said Solo was a risky move and it didn’t pay off. Still I want to see it.

End analysis for me: I'd rather have just had the OT and NOTHING more. It was a complete story on its own and really didn't need anything more. All the novels and comics out there filled in any gaps and it really didn't matter whether or not you read them. You could also imagine they weren't the legit "canon" SW if you didn't like something. These movies, though, claim to be the I-III and VII-VIII. They were unnecessary and have failed to live up to expectation. I've been a SW fan since 1977. I see a trend that people who've been watching for as long as that have serious issues with what came after. Hell, there was an uproar over the Director's Cut of ANH when they made Greedo shoot first. The should have been an indicator of what we were going to get in the prequels.
I'm going to trust the judgment more of people who grew up on the OT rather than those who started with the garbage prequels.

Growing up with the OT doesn't mean you automatically join some 'hate the sequels' club. I saw the OT in the cinema as a young child, loved them to bits and re-watched them again and again growing up. I still really enjoyed the sequels and the prequels. Do they have problems, yes. All Star Wars movies have a few flaws, even the OT. Do I enjoy them all anyway.. yes.

As I said Solo was a risky move and it didn’t pay off. Still I want to see it. TLJ earned 1.3 billion usd during it's box office run but it's total gross takes a hit when you take into account it's 225 million usd budget, it's marketing budget which should range between 200-300 mil usd based on inflation, a further loss of money due to Disney needing to split the earnings with movie theaters (65% in 2017) and Lucasfilms. Solo is flop because it's total gross's profit margin is only around 100 million usd more than it's initial budget, before the reshoots, marketing costs and Disney needing to split a percentage of the earnings with movie theaters and Lucasfilms. www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/200-million-rising-hollywood-struggles-721818celluloidjunkie.com/2017/11/04/disney-can-demand-65-box-office-star-wars-last-jedi/Mind you Rhys Owen goes more in depth about the issues surrounding TLJ's and Solo's total grosses. www.quora.com/Why-are-people-saying-The-Last-Jedi-was-a-failure-when-it-made-1-3-billion

Because Star Wars has a particular look and feel, the movies have a tendency to reuse style, and to look similar (used retro futuristic). Compare this to the Marvel films, each of which have a look, tone, and genres that put them all over the place - they run the range of high-tech capers, war movies, spy movies, space epics, and political and mystic adventures. As it was, Solo looked a lot like the other Star Wars films, with three likeable main characters destined to survive, and so had almost no suspence. If Disney is going to release Star Wars films this close together, they need to figure out how to differentiate them enough so that they seem worth watching.

I guess but I don't know how anyone got past the Twilight romance between Anakin and Padme, except with extra teen angst. Plus, RotS had a major flaw at the end that put it at odds with RotJ. It might seem minor to you but it completely threw out a fairly important conversation between Luke and Leia.

Why do you insist that? It is as shallow as a kiddie pool. Not supporting the recent films with my wallet has done exactly what I would hope and expect - the people responsible for shitting on my favorite thing are going to get shitcanned for it. That isn't destroying Star Wars, that's saving it. The mass exodus of money says that whether or not we're right, we are a vocal financial majority, and guess who matters? You want to reduce everything. That is too simple for the subject, and again, that is why you fail. You think you are the majority? If not the majority, then a very sizable minority. Enough that their displeasure will affect sales.

It's not the reuse of style, it's the copypasting of previous plots and lazy storytelling.
TFA -
doh, der Empire is still alive. Is New Order now. How? Fuck off, we don't know neither. Space Gollum is new Emperer and super bad guy. Too bad, it's only foreboding, for as it turns out he's just a joke like his apprentice.
And now we don't have Death Stars anymore - we convert whole planet to Death Super Star. Same thing different size - cos you gotta top the old stuff with bigger - but it isn't better, it just becomes more ridiculous.
And then we have young padawan with super powers, yada yada. Just that Padawan doesn't need any apprenticeship. Unlocks just as the minutes progress. Must be made of pure mediumchlorine I guess.
And then they go the extra mile to kill off the old crew, like a good Sith apprentice does with his master, but they forgot to develop their new characters. Finn had really a good prospect with that ex-Star Trooper doesn't want to kill innocent people anymore, but he's just become comical relief guy. New Padawan girl is just a spoilt brat that somehow can do everything. Why does she even need a crew or friends? Let her ascend to godhood already and be done with it.

If this conversation ended, with you as Jabba laughing, and me Yoda... Yeah, I'll take that This fan is my kind of fan, fearless and inventive. I offer you this meme: I'll take that meme. Both EA and Disney are competing over who can ruin Star Wars first/better. Dylan holds his ground for a little bit but because he's just a company stooge as opposed to a professional, in the field shit ruiner like Dutch, he slowly begins to bend. Bonus points in that Dylan treats everyone as expendable, a classic EA trait. Now I'm just waiting for the sequel where Disney realizes they're too old for this shit.
