[MODEDIT] I was joking about the sand part, hence the , but I stand by the rest. I don't know why foreigners, particularly Americans love him so much. Hammer horror films are not good acting, they were never about good acting and he is still selling the hammer horror style of acting in everything else he does. It is a matter of personal taste.

The really great actors I find either have ridiculous range or a unique sense of charisma and force of presence about them. A rare few have both. Lee is definitely in the latter camp, to say nothing of being an RL badass that puts us all to shame.

Probably sounds funny from a guy with some really terrible movie and TV credits, but that is how I feel. I make great money sometimes working on absolute garbage. The industry is disgusting to be honest.

And yes he is an awesome amazing person, but a good actor for me he is not. You're dismissing one side of what I said- the unique charisma/presence and sometimes schtick of certain actors. What do you call Samuel L Jackson? Sean Connery? Keith David? Tony Jay? (more on the voice acting side for the last two) You know exactly what you're getting when you get one of them. They each have their thing. And sometimes, the roles call for the unique thing those actors can bring, or at the very least click with them. An actor is not required to be a chameleon, or a shapechanger. They're required to sell a role. Did Christopher Lee effectively use his "Christopher Lee"ness to sell Saruman? Or Dooku? Yes. Yes he did. Was it awesome? Yes it was. I read that Lee initially wanted to play Gandalf. I think that would've been a poor choice (and if I'm not mistaken he later admitted as such). "Christopher Lee"ness would not have sold Gandalf. Being able to jump into a bunch of different roles is great, and will definitely get you work and praise. But there's also such a thing as being just right for a role, or a select couple of roles. The fact that Lee can't play Gandalf doesn't make him a shitty actor.

I want the actor to be almost invisible, I want to watch the character not an actor doing his 'thing'. Being an actor who can only really do one thing is fine, one note but fine, it doesn't make you a shitty actor, but it doesn't make you a good one either.

I, for one, am looking forward to Solo's dvd release. I'm planning on buying it the first day. Though I am a fervent hater of The Last Jedi, I found Solo enjoyable and a decent enough romp through the Star Wars universe. It was caught in the crossfire between fans who hated TLJ and Disney's inability to accept valid criticism of that film.
An unfortunate casualty of (fan)war. But a necessary one.

Fortunately didn't need to time displace to the year 1991 for this one, the 3D version came out last year in theaters a day before my birthday. EDIT - looks like someone deleted their post, why I misquoted.

An unfortunate casualty of (fan)war. But a necessary one. Considering its failure potentially forced Disney stop with milking the franchise a bit? Yeah I think its slowing burn trash fire of a death was a good thing as well.
