Yes, internal consistency is for the birds, not necessary at all for good storytelling.

I'll post my Star Wars hierarchy to keep things moving 1: Empire Strikes Back 2: A New Hope 3: Return of the Jedi 4: Rogue One 5: Revenge of the Sith 6: The Force Awakens 7: The Phantom Menace 8: The Last Jedi 9: Attack of the Clones Worth Mentioning: I got dragged to Solo at the drive-in a couple weeks back, the only thing was it didn't get on until almost one in the morning. Had to sit through the Incredibles 2 before it came on, and ended up falling asleep about a half hour into it. I have no desire to watch the rest of it.

Mickey Wars is far, far below that and shouldn't even be in the book, but of what I've tolerated, Rogue One > Hope Harder.

The Core was a ridiculous movie but infinitely more enjoyable than all of Mickey Wars Eh, I'd say Rogue One and Solo were at least as good, if not better. An argument could be made for The Core being better than Force Awakens. As an overall movie, anyway. Still, my rankings were based on their rankings as Star Wars movies. And I would say that The Core is a better Star Wars movie than TLJ for sure. The Force Awakens might be debatable, but I do think, in the end, it's a better Star Wars movie than The Core.

Eh, I'd say Rogue One and Solo were at least as good, if not better. They might've be, as standalone movies. We don't get a lot of sci-fi heist movies. It could've been fun. As it is though...

That's the most ridiculous thing ever. Why would Luke give a shit about Leia's step-mother in RotJ? I think you entirely miss the emotional subtext behind that scene. It was a total fuck up to have Padme die during childbirth. Hard to believe Lucas didn't stay consistent within his own story. Remember, we're talking about the Force here. If Lucas were to drop out of the sky right now, I wouldn't bat an eyelash. Nice KotOR reference Canderous would be proud

Never heard of the Core... I hate the internet. As long as you accept that it's a terrible premise, and is in effect a Reverse- Armageddon, it's actually a fun movie. Cast is great, action/dialogue are good. The special effects haven't aged well(as is the case for most early 2000s movies), but altogether I like the it a lot.

Empire was best. Return of the Jedi could have topped that IMO but it was ruined by Ewoks so that movie is second. Rogue 1 third. The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones are last, everything else is tied in the middle. The thing that knocks Return of the Jedi down a few spots for me is not so much the Ewoks but more than them Jabba's Palace. That went on for over a third of the entire movie and just dragged it down for me after a while. I get why they had to do it since they needed to get Solo back, but do it in 10-15 minutes instead of 40.

RotJ really is a bit of a jumble, it is really 2 movies slammed together with no real common tone. It is my least favourite OT film by far. Strangely the Ewoks weren't my biggest problem, while they smack of being a cutesy toy selling gimmick, the fact they are actually little savages sort of saves them from being completely awful in my eyes and the scene with 3PO telling the SW story was inspired. The main issue I have is the acting and the clashing tones. Slapstick how I hate you. Harrison Ford at that point really looks like he is just doesn't give a shit anymore what with the mugging and overacting all over the place. Mark Hamil was never the best actor and he doesn't really have the chops at that point to tackle the material as required. His acting is a lot better now, but late 70's early 80's was pretty bad.
