I prefer chronological myself, though it's been some years since I've done it. Last time was a full marathon on May the Fourth. Boy that took some doing. Except if you go the chronological route you have Padme dying in Ep III and then, in Ep. VI, you're like "wtf, Luke...why do you give a shit about Leia's adopted mother?" wat Luke was clearly talking about their birth mother. Yes Ep III created some inconsistency there, but nothing that can't be solved by TheForceDidIt. Alternatively, Leia is talking about Lady Organa but confuses some memories as being those of her real mother. Or she could be remembering a wet nurse that disappeared before she realized who it was. Memories can be wonky, and babies are dumb. Hardly something to get hung up over. The point of that scene is the connection between Luke and Leia, not their dead mother.

That is why a movie series needs a bible for characters, events, etc for directors to follow so nit pickers such as ourselves don't have to point out plot holes and other glaring mistakes.

Especially when midi-chlorians come into the mix. At least the sequels were smart enough to ignore that.
Yes, I get that Leia could have been talking about any female under Alderaan's sun. However, it steals the emotional impact of the scene. To me, that's even worse than Leia flying through space.
EDIT: Take a look at the video a few posts up, where the discussion is taking place. Luke asks about Leia's real mother, indicating they're both aware that there is a step-mother or adopted mother in the mix. Are you going to seriously tell me newborn Leia remembers stuff newborn Luke didn't? Padme died in the table. There was no time to recognize her sadness.

It really doesn't. Like I said, the scene is about Luke and Leia and them connecting as siblings- especially when Luke thinks it might be his last chance to do so. Leia reminiscing about her mother in a vacuum is irrelevant to anything. Likewise Leia having memories of a mother, while Luke has none conveys the same emotion in both of them, regardless of who that woman is. Luke asks Leia about her mother. Leia is vague but wistful, recalling a mostly happy memory. Luke is disappointed he has no counterpart, perhaps also disappointed that asking Leia didn't trigger something perhaps buried. How is any of that ruined by Schrodinger's mother? The mother, real or adoptive is merely a catalyst- everything about that scene is about the twins. And twins can absolutely have different memories. They may have identical genes, but they don't have identical brains. Even had they been raised together, subtle differences in the subjective experiences of each would've led to diverging personality and skills. Instead they were raised on entirely different planets. I'd be worried if they didn't diverge. However you want to explain Leia's memories, there's no doubt in my mind Luke not remembering the same is simply mundane divergence between two different people. Space magic need not apply.

I don't have to get around it- it's irrelevant to what we're discussing. Either Leia's memory of the "kind and sad" mother is really of her birth mother (note how vague and predictable the description is- any child would call their mother kind, and sad could be inferred by the circumstance of abandonment; indeed it could be Leia projecting, more than an infant or small child accurately reading emotions) or it isn't. Either way, it doesn't matter, the connection with Luke still happens, and Luke for his part still gets (or doesn't get) the answer he was looking for. That's where TheForceDidIt comes in.

Well, for what it's worth, here's another Plinkett review.
It's a decent look, but far too apologist, which makes me think RLM still doesn't fully get it, but that just makes them most people, instead of total sellout hacks.
Anyway, it's mildly amusing, and it's the only Last Travesty-related thing I'll ever watch.
