I mean the man is 91 years old. I’m not a fan of them using an AI-generated voice though (hate AI voices being used over VAs in general), especially when there are actors who can sound just like him and have done great jobs playing Vader.

Prequel to Rogue one. Centered on Cassian Andor I see, could be worth it, gonna check out more on Cassian then. I started ANDOR last night....it looks to be as well done as Rogue One, and I am looking forward to continuing it later today.

I have a question for the lore experts. Why do droids have emotions such as fear? For example some droids fear being memory wiped. Some fear deactivation. I understand if this happened to sentients, but these are machines they should have no fear. Since KOTOR 2 is the Star Wars game I played the most I will mention three instances from that game. When in Vogga the Hutts warehouse as T3M4 the dickish protocol droid fears for it's life when T3 threatens to deactivate it. Also on Nar Shaddaa when recovering Tienn Tubb's old utility droid you have the option of buying the droid or just taking the memory core. When you bring back the memory core to the protocol droid in the shop it is repulsed at the concept of holding a memory core. Also HK-47 is way to eager to kill I know that's apart of it's programming, but it does have sarcastic tendencies and even makes jokes. Are these part of Revan's original programming of HK-47, or are they quirks due to not being taken care off. In the game Bao Dur says that droids who go with out maintenance develop quirks. Is this what's happening to HK-47?

Why do droids have emotions I'm hardly a lore expert; of the EU books, I've only read the Thrawn trilogy. I've read a lot of comics though. In Star Wars, droids are fully sentient AIs, capable of a range of emotions. But why is that, I don't know. I would imagine it has to do with R2D2 and C3PO, and how they provide exposition in ANH, and a convenient MacGuffin as well.

It's also been stated in the EU that droids to tend to undergo periodic memory wipes. The longer they go without one, the more "eccentric" they tend to become. Their personalities become more independent, eventually reaching the point where they can defy their original programming. R2D2 canonically has never had a memory wipe, in the EU at least. Not wiping a droid's memory does have benefits though. They become better at their function, better able to anticipate situations and anticipate problems.

Interesting the droids having sentient AI does explain a lot, and I do not know why I did not consider that such a thing was possible in an advanced civilization. Yes, again with KOTOR 2 being the only Star Wars game I've played multiple times. I agree with you. There's a character in the game called Bao Dur and he says the same thing you said about droids needing to be memory wiped periodically.

Yeah, now I remember. Had to dig up the exact quote: Bao-Dur : All I'm saying is you've gone a long time without a memory wipe. Most droids behave erratically under those circumstances. Jedi Exile : Utility droids tend to have a habit towards developing personality quirks. That makes sense, sort of. But when were these sentient droids first developed?

Different worlds had different thoughts on it.

Because I had always thought HK-47 was a unique model at least that's what he says he is.

HK-01 was a prototype assassin droid created by Czerka Corporation. He went rogue and gathered an army of droids that ran amok. The Jedi had to be called in to put it down.

Well I recently reinstalled The Old Republic so if the codex entry ever pops up I'll read it. I always thought HK-47's model was Revan's original idea.

They could find a way to do it that actually makes good and proper sense if they wanted to. Just look at all the stuff they've shamelessly and horribly canonized in comics and NOT done a good job with (ie what happened to Luke's blue lightsaber and hand as it was falling down the shaft). THAT was horrible! But if they really wanted to they could make Katarn fit in with the now established canon. Why not? They've already canonized (at least partly) KOTOR....Because they wanted to (someone did), and so they made it work. Why not Kyle Katarn?

I didn't say NEW established canon.....I said the "NOW established canon", there is a slight but distinct difference in meaning when those words are inserted....pointing towards Disney changing and/or throwing out everything was had been previously established under Lucas....and re-making in their own image what canon should now be, so that they can put out what they want. (ie the Rey Trilogy)
