'Ugly characters?' thread

Really, BioWare's games always had some sort of cartoonish quality to their aesthetic. Every Dragon Age and Mass Effect game has been more stylized and veered away from hard realism. To be honest, I hope that this never changes. 

This is an expedition to explore and settle a new galaxy. Attractiveness is as secondary as it gets here. If you want romance and happiness in life, you don't get on the cryo express to a different galaxy without a return ticket. You don't worry about how good your men and women look, you worry about how competent and mentally and emotionally stable they are. How well suited for their jobs they are. You know, like that former security chief on the right image.

Even better, actually: You can customize them both, no matter which of the two you end up playing!

Still doesn't change the fact PeeBee also looks... strange? It could really be that "too detailed" character expressions... we'll see.

I don't think Peebee looks strange, at least from the tech demo. There might be some weird or funny animation (like the one @linkeski used as his avatar), but overall she looks as the other asari in the trilogy.
The more details might lead to her face seeming strange, I don't know.
As for Sara's default, I'll wait and see how she looks on the full game/later on when they had more time to work on her facial animations.

You're, of course, right about being able to customize each Ryder.  However, your own statements confirm that there's a disparity in their appearances.  "Scott is hot," you say, and you didn't qualify that at all.  You assumed no need to do so: "We can agree on that."  However, you clearly qualified your statement about Sara: "Personally, I think Sara is hot."  You revealed that your opinion may not quite line up with others' opinion of her.  So my point?  This disparity in their appearances is inherently unfair and hypocritical.  One is clearly better looking than the other.  This is simply more evidence to my argument that Bioware is on a social agenda at the behest of liberal, progressive feminists, in part, to help themselves and hurt the opponents they've chosen to declare war upon.  So be it.  

But own it.  And own and accept that by catering to this group you're screwing over another group, hetero males.  Worse yet, keeping males beautiful but uglying down females is a contradiction.  "Good looking love interests for me, but not for thee," is what is virtually being announced on a megaphone.  Furthermore, this has been a worrying trend that many players noticed actually started in Dragon Age: Inquisition.  So far, there has been no evidence to contradict that male hetero players have been intentionally screwed over yet again, while female and gay players have been rewarded or have been allowed to keep their rewards.  Yes, it matters, especially since romance is a key part of these games that people enjoy.

First, how is 3 characters appearance (of which we can change 2) proof for this "agenda"?

And second, Who are you to speak for ALL HETRO MALE? If you have any kind of proof that all hetero male are being screwed over, because of your dislike, please show it. otherwise shove it.

And I must have played a better DA:I than you, because I never get that feeling. You maybe should by the correct game next time. 

It's confirming proof, not definitive proof.  There's a difference.  I'd be very happy to be proven wrong, you know.  And you know why.

Second, I speak for many hetero males, not all.  Search the boards here and elsewhere to find men making similar complaints.  In fact, the OP is one such fellow, and you're posting in his thread!  But I'm not going to do the searching for it.  Shove it?  Ok, internet tough guy.  If you want to get down and trade insults, we can go there.  But you won't like it.  I'm Deadpool for a reason.  You'd be wise to remember it.

Lastly, I didn't play DA:I.  But I've read across a number of sites tons of complaints about love interests for male hetero players.  'Nuff said.

Yeah, sorry, but it didn't start with Inquisition. People complained in the same way for Isabela and Merrill in DA2, as well as labeling Isabela and Aveline manly and ugly as it happened with Cassandra. We had people criticizing some female LI in Mass effect as well. If this really started, it started long before Inquisition. 

I also disagree on the supposed 'screwing' being intentional. As well, you have men who think Cassandra and Josephine were hot, women that disliked the Blackwall and Bull, lesbians that hated Sera with passion, and gays that though bull and Dorian were ugly or not attractive. Truth to be told the only romance that you can qualify as conventionally attractive on the men LI is Cullen. That were discussion about this during DAI actually, with some people saying the female LI were hot why most of the men LI were not conventionally attractive. 

There is no actually proof that Bioware screwed anyone since Peebee, from the tech demo, looks attractive and feminine. The one actually screwed over are those who want to play with the default Sara, if she'll look like this in the final game, and most of those are women, most likely.


 

Hate to break it to you, but "straight guys" are still the main demographic in anything related to gaming... they just complain far less then other demographics... or frequent forums.
