Brazilian here. Info that may be relevant:
- DAIMP suffered a lot from region locking.
- ME3 had issues, but it worked better than DAIMP.
- PVZ2: Garden Warfare (which is basically a kid friendly MEMP, and also a EA game) has the option of choosing which server you want to search games on. It works beautifully.

I also live in Latin America (more precisely in Brazil) and for the me the region-lock was the worst issue with DAMP. Fortunately I used to have a solid group of local friends to play with, and apart from them I met many Americans and Canadians with whom I had a decent, playable-ish connection. Nevertheless, there were many occasions I struggled a lot finding games. I am not sure the average non-European and non-North American player would have tolerated this region-lock so much. Hence I believe this is one of the main (and outside EU and NA the absolute main) contributing factor to the decline of the numbers of players early on in the game. Now Mass Effect 3 religion-less, globalized liberal view of matchmaking despite being better wasn't that great either. Playing on Russian and Australian hosts from Brazil is kinda painful. I hope Bioware starts to think big (other than when it comes to making money) and give us dedicated servers. We don't need a ton of servers and honestly I won't even ask for a Latin American server. All I ask is for a few servers around the globe - 4, 3, whatever - with a ping indicator and some lag compensation. That would do miracles for MEAMP. I remember playing some good games with you about 2 years ago and didn't have much trouble with lag or anything like that. As for region locking, I'm not for it much and it limits you finding good matches with people. I've played with others from other countries, and although I did run into a little bit of lag here and there, they were still fun games and worth going forward. I guess it all depends on who you get teamed up with and how good the game is to put up with a little bit of lag for me. Hopefully they won't lock regions in Andromeda Multiplayer....I guess we'll have to see.  |

Origin: Aragorn089 same as under my avatar. Yeah we played a few games, but like I said it's been a couple of years ago or more. Had you on my friend list at one point but probably got deleted when I quit playing or to make room for someone else because of the friend limit back then. I think I remember you now, but perhaps we played together just briefly. Back in the day I took DAMP quite seriously and I prioritized DAMP active players; there weren't sufficient players in my region, pugging was not an option and I was desperately in search of active people elsewhere in the world otherwise I could not progress in the game. I even deleted most ME3MP friends as well as DAIMP inactive players. Gladly that 100 friends cap is now gone, I have been trying to re-friend many people back. Most players ended up quitting DAMP, just like you did. In hindsight, maybe I should have done the same and, I don't know, maybe watched more movies or gone out dating or whatever. I played over 3k hours of DAMP and for the most part it felt like a job. I don't intend to take MEAMP that seriously. |

I played DAMP only for a little while. I never did get into it much even though I do like the Dragon Age games, it just never seemed fun like ME3MP did to me. I just gave it up and went back to Single Player mode. Hopefully MEAMP is good. If it has guns and explosions then I might be happy. And hopefully I won't get too addicted to it like I did ME3MP!  |

*waves hand* There is no server. There are servers responsible for matching players together, as with any modern game that doesn't use dedicated servers. That said, the servers in question will not be responsible for anything involving the matches, just for finding people to play with. |

There will be a server for the store too, but i think the question is related to the actual playing of the game, which uses a peer-to-peer model rather than a client-server model.

It boils down to a design choice. Either the game is designed for MP, with an optimized netcode, or it just has a region lock slapped on to prevent the worst of the lag issues from being experienced by the average player. For reference: just slap a region lock on it |

But, Mass effect is more popular(IMO) than Dragon age,so even with region lock there should be possible to find players at any time.I am hoping. |

I really hope the developers are reading this
players in Multiplayer in Dragon Age Inquisition are separated, for example players from South America are separated from the rest of the world, I stopped playing because it was impossible to find a game and even we are separated, region lock, dedicated server, whatever, there is a terrible lag always, so separating players is not a solution for lag , it only makes more difficult to find games and peple to play with
there is no positive side of separating players, even if they/we are separated there will still be lag
and is much more fun, and interesting, rewarding, exciting to play with people from all over the world or the galaxy, it makes more sense,
it's better for all humanity!
