Are Players in MEAMP divided into world regions?

I don't think it has been confirmed yet. I hope we can play with people around the world, because I met a lot of cool people playing ME3MP.

As for that forum, I don't know. Some people here are members there too and perhaps they can comment.

It took ages for them to admit there was some form of region locking on DAIMP. Good luck getting an answer now.

I didn't play DAIMP, but DAI SP had player/NPC collision issues that pissed me off continually. ME always had very passive NPCs, as in they were never in the way. DAI's NPCs are always in the way. It's two different ways of handling collision programming, I guess.

I'm not sure if this is in anyway connected to the issue to which you refer, but I was immediately reminded of it.

So, the region lock was a solution to the problem of not being able to code a proper solution to the problem of the terrible lag effects experienced when playing off-host.

As long as Bioware has figured out how to write a decent netcode and designed the game around being able to play off-host without terrible lag effects then there's no reason to have region lock...

Well fuck me, if we really can't play with people outside the region I'm sure as hell not giving them a single penny for the game...

I also live in Latin America (more precisely in Brazil) and for the me the region-lock was the worst issue with DAMP. Fortunately I used to have a solid group of local friends to play with, and apart from them I met many Americans and Canadians with whom I had a decent, playable-ish connection. Nevertheless, there were many occasions I struggled a lot finding games. I am not sure the average non-European and non-North American player would have tolerated this region-lock so much. Hence I believe this is one of the main (and outside EU and NA the absolute main) contributing factor to the decline of the numbers of players early on in the game.

Now Mass Effect 3 religion-less, globalized liberal view of matchmaking despite being better wasn't that great either. Playing on Russian and Australian hosts from Brazil is kinda painful. I hope Bioware starts to think big (other than when it comes to making money) and give us dedicated servers. We don't need a ton of servers and honestly I won't even ask for a Latin American server. All I ask is for a few servers around the globe - 4, 3, whatever - with a ping indicator and some lag compensation. That would do miracles for MEAMP.

I think rather than the option of the servers which in my experience is a PITA, because you are locked out of playing with friends or you have to rebuild everything on a new server & because people tend to migrate between servres in unpredictable patterns, I'd simply like an option to check that I prefer hosts within this or that region. Only if it is not available for a few minutes of searching, it will throw me on a EU or APAC host.

However it is a two-sided thing. If you're constantly being thrown into remote world part lobbies, people just start complaining about lag.
