From the new briefing about the Arks and the Nexus, we see that the Nexus is incomplete when we leave the Milky Way. Upon arrival construction begins on the other "arm" of the Nexus, as well as the "docking ring (?)". This I assume will take some time to complete, perhaps a year or more. However when we see the Tempest interacting with the Nexus in Andromeda, it is always complete. After arriving in the Andromeda galaxy, the Arks are supposed to dock with the Nexus for additional storage and power. The human pathfinder's duty is to find a new home for humanity in Andromeda.
So if we put this information together, it seems that after arriving in Andromeda the Hyperion would dock with the Nexus and aid in it's construction and give power and storage. However in some of the cover art we have seen, as well as the N7 day trailer from 2016, we see an Ark being destroyed (uncomfirmed in the N7 trailer, but highly probable). This is most likely Hyperion, carrying most but not all of humanity. In the gameplay footage from the Video Game Awards, we see that there are humans who have inserted themselves in places of power in bustling metropolis areas, especially the woman sitting on the chair that SisRyder has the conversation with. She is described as having been from the Nexus. So if the pathfinder is supposed to find a home for humanity, and it appears Ryder has just arrived on the scene as the Ark gets destroyed while not being near or attached to the Nexus (speculation), and humans from the Nexus are already part of the economy and workings of the Andromeda Galaxy for at least a short amount of time, and the Nexus is completed, does this mean that something happened to Hyperion and we arrived late to the party?
Sorry if that got a bit rambly, but I have a function to get to and I just had to post this as soon as I thought of it. I hope if anyone sees issue with my logic that we can discuss it!

I believe one of the devs on Twitter said that yes the Hyperion arrives late. Obviously they wouldn't give the reasons.

Hyperion arrives late ... but Asari escape pods are also a thing ... so perhaps the Ark ship that takes a hit is the Asari ship, not the human ship.
Mostly, I think it implies that the whole ARKCON/Ai turned into a clusterfark ... rich resources turned out not to be, hostile alien races, fewer golden worlds than expected, Ark ships not staying synced up in their arrival times and places, rebellion on the Nexus ... leading to one of the security chiefs being cast out, cast down (ooh, now there is an origin story for some future Andromeda religion), and pieces and parts of the expedition trying to pull it all back together before the entire project fails.
So, Jien Garson had this glorious plan, huge budgets, awesome tech ... and a cascading series of screw-ups, personnel issues and unexpected events have totally undone her vision, her plan for Andromeda. To top it all off, when they call home, no one picks up ... no voicemail, no busy signal, it doesn't even ring.

Where did you get information about the Asari escape pod? I'm always trying to get as much information as I can!
And was it confirmed by a dev that the Hyperion is arriving late? And if so, where? I'm always looking for more sources.
I think that would be an interesting setup, to have the Hyperion arrive a few years late so the Nexus and other Ark species are already somewhat integrated into the Andromeda landscape.

The GI interview threads have fallen to page three (at this point) ... there is the larger info, plus a follow-on thread with bits and pieces. Between the two, I pieced together the life pods and the Hyperion arriving late/in the wrong place (which is different than the Hyperion being destroyed). Since life pods are not something you use for normal transportation, I jumped to the conclusion that the Asari Ark is the one that takes a major hit. Of course, that doesn't rule out the Hyperion also taking a hit ... which would show the ARKCON/Ai project going totally off the rails ... not necessarily a bad thing ... but certainly not what most folks expected.
