Not really I prefer people in flesh and bones with real emotions and feelings and not things that simulate said emotions and feelings. Synthetics are good as supporting or secondary characters in my humble opinion. They are also good enemies.
That's pretty much it.

Yes. In most stories that have them I have thoroughly enjoyed them so I would like to have one in this.

Yes, both because I adored Legion and because I'm very much a synthetic/robot/android fan in general as far as science fiction goes, particularly any that are going through a sort of existential crisis. I'm a real sucker for that Pinocchio "am I a real boy" syndrome.

Yes, both Legion and EDI are within my favorite character so I'd love another synthetic squadmate.

Losing EDI and the Geth broke my heart in ME3. I'm kinda done with the organic/synthetic quandary. If they forgo the philosophy behind it and just make it like any normal squadmate, then perhaps.

Sure, they are a staple of scifie after all... but again, as with the ship, customization would be nice.

No, because it makes it less likely we will have a Salarian squadmate.

Domo arigatou Mr Roboto get in my paaaarty You mean Robouto-san? Hmmm...I'm not sure whether I want synthetic or not, both EDI and Legion were fun, but I almost never took Legion with me anywhere, and I loved EDI, but her lines felt more like human, not synthetic. Guess I would be interested to learn more about them if we have one, but not really miss it if we don't.

OMG, after the HK this, HK that, and even a bit more HK... no, not really. Also, really liked EDI more as an omniscient system than as a droid. On another hand, BioWARE has a knack for producing interesting synthetics, like Legion and Gree, so I am interested in seeing if they would do something like that. I'd say, I am divided and will check out what I shall get.

I'm largely indifferent. I've liked the synthetic companions we've had so far, and I'm not opposed to more. But I also don't have a strong need either. I'm more concerned with a variety of well-written, in-depth characters, whatever shape they take.

I feel kind of "meh" on synthetic squaddies. HK was great. T3 was great. The SWTOR synthetics were all pretty forgetable. Legion was fine. EDI was meh. Neither really blew me away with their stories. Legion's story got more interesting in ME3, but he wasn't a squaddie then. EDI as a squaddie felt stupid. I just don't see any good reason for it. She would have been better off just staying on the ship. I guess I'd say I'd rather an organic, but I wouldn't be too put out if there was a well-written synthetic. Sounds like there was a synthetic squaddie mentioned in the leak. The rest of the leak has panned out, so I feel pretty confident that there was one at one time. However, since then, a dev stated that a squaddie was cut for being too similar to a past character. No idea if this was the synthetic, but I could easily see that. Maybe it was SAM, who got turned back into an ME2 EDI style AI? But that's just pure speculation.

Not really, but that depends on what we would get.
ME2 Legion was synthetic squadmate done well, including making him alien enough to actually be somewhat believable.
ME3 did a poor job of handling synthetics IMO, where EDI and Legion seemingly got Pinocchio syndrome. Nevermind that they also would occasionally forget that EDI wasn't really in the EDI-bot. I would be afraid this is what we would get again.
Maybe it would worth considering a cyborg, or even some "person" who had become fully "cyberized" (to steal that term) and no longer had much of any of their original organic parts. Not that this hasn't been done before, but it would be new for ME at least. Can even call her Motoko and promote to Major if they want.

Said cyborg comes from a race of Andromliens who are born as full organics but add tech to become cyborgs. They expand on the barely explored idea of synthesis from ME3 ending. The Lin Kuei of ME.

only if it is anything like this: Or this: Let's have a limited AI who can't just hack into anything it wants on a whim, is autonomous in a single body and doesn't want to be an organic but rather just highlights the differences in how we think.

Yeah same here really my favourite Star Trek character was Data and in many ways EDI did kind of remind me of him when I first played ME2/3 but then in a way a lot of the types of character swe see in ME make me think a little of Star Trek types .Like the Reapers remind me of the Borg. The Batarians kind of remind me of the Romulans. The Krogan are a lot like the Klingons etc. etc..

Asimov was how my dad got me into SF way back in the day. "Here, it's your Christmas present. Read all of it." It was the collection of robot short stories, and I never really regretted going down that rabbit hole.
I LIKE EDI, I like Legion, I even like Scorpio, but besides Scorpio in some of her weirder moments, I don't know that we've really explored the whole robopsychology aspect. You know, how robots aren't real boys and how they view things differently, even if there might be some sympathy. That being said, after two Mass Effect games with a synthetic squaddie, I can see a reluctance to take that tack again... Especially since squad mate space is limited and obviously we're going to want to get to know the Andromedans better.
I'm hoping, but not too hard, because I suspect my wee heart will be broken.
