I'm still hoping they go with something along the lines of the Black Ark Theory. <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>> And that's why I'm in the new FTL drive camp. The video itself shows a different way for interstellar travel = new FTL drive. To me it makes sense. Plus, Bio is not above changing canonical text or choosing one out of many choices to make future stories consistent and "neater".

Well, okay, to be completely fair.
Take the closest relay to the edge of the MW -- extrapolate how long it would take you to get there, to finally hit dark space for your long journey to Andromeda. 10 years? 5 years? That already puts your leaving time at before ME1, if you don't want the galaxy wide effects of the ending of ME3 to hit you.
They must've come up with a new gravi-metric engine, that uses gravity (and thus, out in dark space it just uses fuel, because there's nothing with gravity there) to propel itself much more quickly than regular FTL speeds.

[snip] 6) At some point before the ending, the Arks are attack and they have to left before being obliterated. I think she [Ryder] simply went to cryo in the middle of a combat. Maybe the Project wasn't totally ready for lunch and they had to rush it in order to survive. Perhaps the Reapers/baddies-who-force-us-to-leave-Milky-Way discovered the Ark Project and try to destroy it. That's why we are with the armor on and that's why she shows so much relief to see they are alive. The problem was not only the slim possibility of survive the journey to Andromeda, but the Project is not ready and suddlenly the project is in the middle of a warzone. [snip] I think, in adding to this, and what adding to what the developers have said... That Ryder wasn't anyone special. His/her story goes from being a civilian to being a hero, rather than, like Shepard, going from a hero to becoming a legend. So, I'm thinking she has something to do with defense of the ark ship. Whether it's weapons, or engineer, or shields, or hell, maybe even ground support. I'm thinking it's one of the others though (weapons, shields, or engineer). OH YES! I love that idea!! And for once your class would be linked with your position in the Ark? i.e., if they keep with the six conventional mass effect classes, we could be like: Average ship engineer (as Kenneth and Gabbie) --> Engineer for combat (aka NERD POWER!)Gunnery Chief --> Soldier Doctor (medical care) --> Sentinel Average Janitor/conduct cleaner --> Infiltrator (the most epic the zero to hero in the history of stories. Mess Sgt Gardner would be proud)Ground support team for shields (in a biotic Grissom Academy way) ---> Adept/Vanguard

Engineer - Engineer on ship Soldier -- Soldier or Adept Shields -- Sentinel (go go tech armor) Ground Support -- Infiltrator or Vanguard

(...I guess? ) I like your classification despite the fact that your lack of janitors is disturbing Sargeant Gardner is sad. You make him sad

lol *pours ryncol for Sgt Gardner*
Yah, but see, what's the difference between a soldier and ground support? So, then you've got 4 types of class listed up there... And well, it's not so special anymore. It's either that or you can switch adepts and infiltrators and make their classification "Guns on the ship" (formerly Soldier).
That would work.
And vanguards and adepts do work exceptionally together at making stuff asplode.

My theory is that the mars archives contained far more than just the plans for the crucible, including Prothean research into ways to get out of the milky way to avoid extermination by the reapers.
Since the crucible plan was a massive gamble a mission to andromeda was organised by the forces working together to make the crucible as a contingency plan, just in case it failed.
The mission would probably have been launched at the exact same time as the final assault on earth so that the reapers were distracted and couldn't interfere.
I can't see the arcs being made after ME3's ending or before the reaper invasion at the beginning of ME3, simply because there wouldn't be a reason to travel so far to try and find a new home.
I think I remember a codex entry saying that only around 1% of the milky way had been explored prior to ME3 ( specifically, the 1% that was near to mass effect relays), so exploring the Andromeda galaxy for new colonizable planets instead of the milky way only makes sense if none of those undiscovered planets in the milky are an option, and the only thing I can think of that'd make every planet in the milky way a non-option is the reapers.

Ryder is supposed to be combat trained but a newbie. Your idea is that the Command crew got killed and Ryder has to take over. Not a bad hypothesis. During the CC you would choose your Class Specialty or if Role Play is enhanced allow you to hybrid a Class.

I hope it isn't explained as coming from the Mars Archives. That place has already produced a Deus Ex Machina twice, and I really don't want it to get a hat trick since that destroys any suspension of disbelief.

ME1 already established that space stations like the Citadel have their own discharging facilities, the Arks are probably equipped with those.
EDIT: Oh, those seem to be intended for visiting ships.

No more Mars please. There should a limit of how much plot devices you can dig out of one place. And Void Dragon isn't even there at that time.

Forget about Arks and all mentioned forms of travel, everything Bioware has said so far is a lie
the truth is that your ship - the Wile E. Coyote, gets fired to Andromeda by a giant sling
