It's too bad Patrick isn't involved in this, or we could add Kh'ett, Khe'ett, and K'h'e't't to the list. I bet Patrick would have totally gone for "K'h'e't't" Patrick Weekes @patrick Weekes @mike_Laidlaw @thefiddzz @kessel_run Every time an ME/DA term is incorrectly capitalized or pluralized, a character gets another apostrophe.

Prothean, Collector....they both have the same head shape, and this one has it too, though smaller. The ridges on the side of the head form a somewhat triangular shape, but the point isn't pointy. That's what I'm talking about.

Yup, he did. I'm very confident you folks are going to love this system. Heck, I've just spent the last few hours playing a new character build that merges certain elements from a classic ME3 Adept and Engineer, wielding a unique sniper rifle I crafted for maximum synergy, and it's awesome. I'm very excited to see what crazy characters y'all manage to create in MEA. *returns to lurker mode* ,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-(_MEA_)-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸
Well, now... hmm... I have questions that need answers.

Found a good quality shot of the Khett image from Game Informer: i.imgur.com/OlmKvNV.jpgDespite what it may look like, this Khett does have pupils. Said pupils looks somewhat reptillian in shape and size. It also looks like its face has scale-like texture. It's interesting that the Khett wear clothes given that it looks like they have an exoskeleton. If you look at the chest, you can see what looks to be some of this underneath it. The pants actually looks like it has holes on the sides to accomendate the armor.
This guy (er, gal?) looks like a cross between a prothean and a batarian. Uh, and maybe a darkspawn?
I remember one leak describing them as looking like a mix of Collector and Vorcha. I can definitely see how the person who said that can see that.

I remember when Ian dropped into an early thread here, "Which Will Be the First Class You Play?" He commented on being curious as to where things would go. Ultimately, the conversation turned into musings about how great a classless system would be, but how it probably would never happen. I imagine he enjoyed that. ,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-(_MEA_)-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸
But, if I understand it correctly, the classless system is only for the Pathfinder. It true, it's a bit misleading as it implies it also applies to the squad members.
That's not true. From the GI coverage I didn't he'd necessarily apply to squad members. It seemed they were talking about the MC. That's really interesting, thanks . I'm quite eager to see more of the system, but from a gameplay perspective and all the skill trees.

5th video = First Contact Protocol (1: 25) I'm super pumped about meeting new aliens. Either Gamble or another dev also hinted that we might not necessarily be able to understand their languages at first. I remember KOTOR had a sidequest where you could speak to a stowaway girl on your ship and "realise" that she was speaking in broken Mandalorian through a little linguistic dialogue choice game thing, that was awesome. (Maybe it's just because I saw Arrival this weekend, but I really want a first contact style thing where we have absolutely no idea what the other aliens are saying.)

The dark part of the face seems to be his real skin. All the rocky parts look like an armor. This also explains the villain at the end of the n7day trailer. That halo is probably the leader's/king's helmet/crown...

The weapon, the gloves, the armor (in the trailer it even had the same glowing weapon slots). I expected things to be something entirely different and alien. In the MilkyWay I supposed that all the weapons and armor are looking more or less similar in the general design since you could say that the different species learned each other technologies, but this time in the Andromeda galaxy, I expected something else. I have to say I'm deeply disappointed by this design. It is exactly what whey are doing in Star Trek, where all the aliens share the same bipedal features and even general weapons usage.

We already saw glimpses of the Kett in the first trailer in 2015. I wasn't expecting them be that different. Hopefully other species in Andromeda will shake things a bit.

I truely hope so. I have very large hopes with ME:A to take my imagination to far away places and wild experiences. It's just that, too similar humanoid aliens are getting boring, I think. And when looking at how even the armor weapon holders are built so similar although we are talking about an entire different galaxy is bewildering me... Even here on Earth you have got incompatible and different gear configurations between different manufacturers and countries (let's take for example an electrical plug in each country). oi66.tinypic.com/14l3ea0.jpgI really don't mean to sound like I'm trashing a game I've yet played. I'm really looking forward to this and I've even preordered the game. Same for weapon hookups, for bipedal beings with a torso and two arms. There are only so many optimum places you can strap a weapon. Makes me think these Khet/Kett are no dummies.

There are only a very few companies that build airplanes, and most of these come from collaborating together from common knowledge. That's not the case here as no knowledge was shared yet. And about weapon hookups, actually it could be optimal it they were attached to the forearms themselves, or have the gun barrel on the hands and the armor feeding ammunition to it. Especially if it is an energy weapon. But nevermind, I'm just ranting on something that it might be impossible to do and to please. Too alien might be impossible to implement, even with this Gen consoles and PC. There are animation and hardware considerations that are needed to be taken into account. Maybe on the next next gen... I'll just try and enjoy the "ride" and not think too much about it, and not search for the cracks and seams of this game's idea.

Hm, it sounds like I might be able to solve a problem I have with early sniper rifles: I like to put it all in one shot and make that shot count. Usually, at someone's head.

We, the BSN, did not see that coming, based upon the conversation we had several months ago. The second, though, is that I'd always have loved to be able to play a biotic Infiltrator. (I don't need all of the skills.) Ian's character was similar enough in broad details to sound like one. The fact that crafting is as involved as it sounds is a bonus. My favorite weapons from ME3 were the Lancer and the Indra. If I can get my hands on a weapon like the Indra, blurring the line between AR and SR, I'll be happy. The likelihood seems high.

Ian's build is sounding very close to what my dream class has always been! I love playing a powerful Adept, but I wished I could use sniper rifles effectively (for those times I found that perfect ridge overlooking an enemy camp), and have a handful of useful tech skills.
Especially since the emphasis is on exploration, I'd really want to expand my repertoire of skills that have out-of-battle uses (like Decryption).
(Still holding out hope that I can at least headcanon myself with a science background - I wanna be a space botanist please, thank you.)

I don't know if we will get dialogue options for "dorking out", but the advanced scanning of the omnitool is a serious scientist's tool. Ryder's implant that directly links him/her to the mission computer again seems like a cool scientific tool. (This and the omnitool go hand in hand, no doubt.) I'm sure we get at least some chance to be the "scientist". I hope we can avoid the herpa-derp moments that Shepard often had. For instance, don't dumb down Ryder in order for PeeBee to shine. I, the player, likely understand fully the topic at hand. I realize others may need some explanation. If so, let Ryder expound upon the situation. It doesn't always need to be an NPC that teaches the dumb-dumb player character. This destroys my verisimilitude, unless the main character is supposed to be dense.

Especially since the emphasis is on exploration, I'd really want to expand my repertoire of skills that have out-of-battle uses (like Decryption). (Still holding out hope that I can at least headcanon myself with a science background - I wanna be a space botanist please, thank you.) I think I'm one of the few people that miss the mini-games from the first Mass Effect like the decryption. It could be a pain and I didn't like being locked out because skill was too low* but I found it fun to play. I always ended up with an overflow of omni-gel.
According to Jian Garson in the orientation briefing, Pathfinders are a blend of elite soldier, scientist and guide so hopefully we’ll get options to be somewhat sciency even if we’re not the intended Pathfinder. I just really want options for my character to be really excited about discoveries to the point of dorking out. They’re going to a whole new galaxy: that warrants some excitement, at least, as an option, I think.
Note: *I always tended to put as many points as I could and as fast as I could in the dialogue-related skills so I often neglected other options.
Ha, sounds like we have similar playstyles. I also enjoy the mini-games, and always max out charm as soon as I can. I had forgotten about what was said in the training video, thanks for the reminder, that makes me hopeful. I love the influences we're seeing so far. The white armor Jien wears looks like future NASA (and it's good to remember that to be an astronaut, you're expected to have at least a bachelor's degree in engineering, biological science, physical science, or mathematics), and the writing so far echos the scientific curiosity and wonder from visionaries like Carl Sagan, etc. Reaching for the limits of what's technologically possible just to see what's there. I better be careful before I overhype myself, haha.

On mini-games I like em? But ehh, not the ones in ME1. They where just simon says for all the things. I'd be down for mini-games if they where more puzzles like some other games have done instead of a slow memory puzzle.

I'd be down for mini-games if they where more puzzles like some other games have done instead of a slow memory puzzle. PC and consoles actually had different mini-games in the first Mass Effect:
"For PC users, the mini-game presents the player with a set of rotating concentric rings. The player must move an arrow through openings in the rings and reach the center in the allotted time."
"For Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 users, the mini-game is akin to a game of "Simon Says." The face buttons (A, X, B, Y for 360; X, Square, Circle and Triangle for PS3) appear onscreen in formation, and will be highlighted in sequence. As each button is highlighted, the player has a brief amount of time in which to press the matching button on the controller. Depending on the difficulty level of the object, there is a series of three, five or seven button presses. Pressing the wrong button (or none at all) causes the game to fail."
Although I could have sworn I've played the console mini-game in the PC version but I may be misremembering.

So far, Mass Effect has not been one of them, in my opinion. I, too, invest early in Persuade/Intimidate (at least my 5-6 ranks for the Noveria glitch). I don't like it, though. I do not like having to pay for this skill, nor for the skill to shoot my gun accurately (if I'm already a marine), nor for anything similarly basic. I feel like this type of thing should be built in, just part of the RPG experience. Don't make me invest skill points in order to RP my character. ME1 skill system really sucked, in my opinion.
