Oh, I know that. My point was, saying that heterosexual FemRyder is low on options for LI, while we literally have one LI revealed (and not really fully, sice Cora's sexuality wasn't confirmed) is laughable. Why even bother with that when we don't have exact info about LIs? As for LI reveal discussion... I agree with those that say knowing whenever you can romance someone doesn't cheapen the experience. On the contrary, for me, knowing who is romancable and how romance works in game actually allows me to be more flexible with which options I choose. Ninjamancing someone because I didn't know that one friendly line was romance lock, or having to avoid some lines/ (even though you like them) because you're afraid what they can lead to... If not for my knowledge for romances, my IQ's friendship with Dorian would be so much cheaper. Flirtous idiots. Of course that's only my opinion. And one more thing - I know that there are some that don't want to know. I understand. But most of those people are avoidig this type of info or going into blackout either way. So while revealing/not revealing doesn't affect them that much, it makes huge difference for those who want to know. My first time playing ME1 I played Shep as myself. I'm not too worried about it. Who the LIs are and a walkthrough of the entire game will be up online in the usual magical way 30 minutes after someone gets their hands on the game. The grand majority of us won't have to be in the dark about it if we don't want to.

Liara also got me on the next play through because I wanted two saves, one with Kaidan alive, and one with Ashley alive. Had to restart that one. Granted Bioware has gotten better but they've also slipped up a few times. Cas and Dorian being a prime example of them slipping up, as pointed out above. I didn't romance Dorian first (hahaha, picked Solas), but man I would have been pretty disappointed if he flirted with me only to say, yeah sorry. I really, really don't want to be wowed by a character and then get however many hours into the game to find out they're not interested. That kind of disappoint is hard to shake off sometimes. Plus the wasted play time. Yeah, I could continue, but I'm a huge romantic and I like having romance in games. If they won't tell us beforehand, please, oh please, make it readily obvious we're barking up the wrong tree, Bioware.  |

Yep But the thing is, playing as FemShep you had to cut him off very harshly in order to stop the flirting (also, you lose a lot of his background doing so) At least when Liara confess her undying love you can tell her you are not interested and you prefer to be friends with her |

I didn't feel that I lost anything in terms of roleplaying by knowing the sexualities of the romance options in DAI beforehand. If anything it enhanced my first playthrough. After that, everything is known anyway. Not really, you can't really be sure about all the romances in the game after the first one, if you mean just playing the game. No, I meant that a few days after launch, everything will be well documented on places like this and wikis. |

Counterpoint- Cass and Dorian could be flirted with for quite a while before they indicated they weren't interested in women. I haven't played the Dragon Age games, so I was unaware of this ^, but again, even if that sort of thing is indicative of 'real life' (  ) I would hope no character in ME:A does that. String Scott and Sara along, only to then say soz bros/sis, I don't swing that way. Alas, based on some dev comments about the romances, and how they want a mix of different types of romances, relationships, one night stands etc., I suppose we can expect some of this stringing along and flirty bait stuff in ME:A. Cause apparently no guns on the Tempest isn't a creative liberty, but not having 'realistic' relationship stuff from the real world is It's a difficult balance. I thought Cassandra's felt very natural and well done: if you flirt with her she doesn't respond to it immediately, since she's primarily concerned with the important shit going on. She just sort of raises an eyebrow and continues. However, if you persistently flirt she confronts you in your spare time and asks you what your intentions are. So it takes a while to build, but she doesn't "string you along". It wouldn't really make sense for her character to say "I don't like girls" the first time you make a subtle remark, because even when she eventually approaches you she's second-guessing herself about whether you are actually flirting with her or not. Dorian play flirting with a female Inquisitor also makes sense for his character, but is harder to justify. |
