Both.  Cyrion Tabris also survives, even if the Player takes that bargain...

Yeah but I think that's actually a bug since he can be seen in the cages with the elves even when, I think, the spell is cast. His reaction and dialogue is also positive of the player. Granted, he may simply have really not liked his neighbors.

There might be a different reason for why he survived: I'm not saying demon but I'm thinking it might be demon.

I wouldn't actually mind it if we never hear anything about her because, well, that lends itself to some freedoms. She might also not even have died, she might have just left and never been in her children's lives.

That's.....not really better.  I hope it isn't like Shepard where even if mom is in the Alliance, it's like dad never existed.

I didn't mind that: I liked imagining Hannah Shepard as a single mother or the dad as a military doctor or someone running an ordinary business and so on. It gave some freedom in regards to things that might influence Shepard's upbringing. Similarly, I like to imaging that Ryder's mother left, died or that the siblings were adopted. I also like to imaging that she was a part of their life and so on. Maybe their dad was gay, maybe he had a husband that died. Maybe they were primarily raised by their grandparents because their dad was away.

If Ryder's mother isn't in game then I don't see a reason for her to be mentioned if it's just going to be an confirmation that she died or that she was a nice lady. I didn't mind Malcolm because he was necessary to explain how his children learned to manage their magic and for other reasons including because of Leandra's past. I didn't mind Adaia either because she was necessary to an extent to explain how her kid was good enough to attract the eye of a Grey Warden and she worked to show a side to life in the Alienage.
