Yes, this thread really is for all 'Mass Effect' twitter news, isn't it...
Fixed.
Wouldn't the same be true for the Dragon Age Inquisition twitter thread? Just saying! *hint hint, wink wink*
Logically consistent, certainly.

I concur and it may or not be true. However, it is a convenient deflection.
In retrospect, I also question its veracity.
Otherwise, why wait so long to confirm no SP DLC?
Jason Shrubbery or whatever is his name said he also heard that there wasn't DLC planned from the start. Perhaps they where expecting a lukewarm reception. Perhaps it's true what we've been hearing that the DLC model is not profitable for short stuff. And the market is gearing toward something more meaty, like those expansion packs like XCom War of the Chosen, Witcher Blood and Wine etc.

I could certainly go for that.
But again, the question is, if no single player DLC was the choice from the start, why hide it from the paying customers, who over the last decade, have come to expect it?
It seems dishonest. Lies of omission, if not commission. Though I suppose I can't really put such a thing beyond Bioware/EA, truth be told.

Weird -- after all those years of people railing about how DLC is a cheap cash grab, it turns out that it really isn't even that?

I know. But I think these are rumors in the industry, so far. My take is that outfits, weapons and shit like that are more profitable because of low cost (for either us or them). Story DLCs not so much because of all the cost and work hours involved (you even have to re-hire VA, and have to work around their busy schedule).
Also, we can see that major AAA games are doing stand alone expansions which can be sold independently: Infamous Last Light, Uncharted Lost Legacy, Assassins Creed Freedom Cry.
If any of you guys play Dark Souls and Bloodborne, I think there was a good example of the above. Bloodborne was supposed to have 2 expansions, but they ended up merging them into a single bigger expansion and it was received with critical acclaim. Dark Souls 3 went the 2 expansions route, and the first one was criticized for the small amount of content, and compared to Bloodborne's DLC a lot. In the second expansion, they had to up their game. They ended with roughly the same content as Bloodborne's DLC, but with a huge backlash at the beginning. (Dark Souls 3 first DLC was great, but it was short. The criticism wasn't for the quality, it was for the amount of content).
So they probably were waiting for Andromeda's reaction before anything else. A bigger expansion is a huge commitment, after all. I know we were expecting a Quarian ark DLC, but I always thought it was too much for a single DLC (assuming it wasn't a bigger expansion), but probably more of a hint in the future of the Andromeda sub-franchise. I wasn't expecting because I really doubted a single DLC would introduce 4 or 5 new species they had to model and animate. For like, just a few of hours of content.
I expected, to be fair, more like we find a fleeing ship with a few quarians, including a new squadmate, with a story where we end up discovering where the quarian ark ended up in Andromeda, and have a hook for the next game, Inquisition style.
i never imagined a theoretical quarian ark dlc to be that large. at most i expected it to be similar to the other in-game arks' questlines: a few planet hopping missions, a few conversations with NPCs/squadmates, and culminating in a linear mission on the ark itself, plus maybe it becomes sort of a hub location in the aftermath, like

If Bioware/EA made one single mistake in MEA, it's how they handled marketing/communication. I've been saying this since 2015. I actually have nop beef with the game itself and quite like it, but boy did their witholding of info piss me off.
After mathing out in my head when we might see another ME, yeah... better settle into the comfy chair. The really comfy chair.
I'll go get Liam's couch then...that said I think a remaster is way more likely though. Note: a sequel or a remaster- I don't give any over 50%. The real telling though is how they treat N7 Day.

A remaster is certainly possible, if they thought it'd be profitable enough. I imagine they'd have to outsource it to another studio though if they did.

I completely agree with you, marketing aside which was factored by the game not working/breaking constantly during development, so they really couldn't show anything even if they wanted too (look at Anthem with game play right out of the bat). Their communication is so poor and I hoped Jessica Merizan would return as community manager to Bioware, esp with Casey's return but their current management is beyond lackluster.
Fact there is more notorious studios with a reputation of alienating their fans having better communication than bioware, speaks volume. I think the company knows this and slowly fixing it, hopefully by Anthem and DA4.

Agreed.... I just yawned since I can't get the character unless I super grind..... and I don't want to.
Is this what social support for Anthem will become?... a yawn fest?
I'm not sure if it's SUPER grindy... I have 29/32 characters unlocked and I have played MP around 60 hours, no andromeda points used/bought. That's less than I have spent playing the SP. Each to his own, I guess.
