Sylvf @sylvf1 It's the 10th anniversary of Mass Effect 1. I still have vivid memories of being blow away by how cinematic that game felt. #teN7 #N7Day
First thing I ever did at BioWare was play Mass Effect 2 eight times, because it was weeks away from certification EVERYONE was bug hunting.
And I was astounded and delighted by the slicker fighting, the cool new planets, the chance to deepen your relationship with the crew.
Then I got to write for Mass Effect. I wrote about 1/4th of the Cerberus Daily News articles under @theotherhepler 's watchful/helpful eye.
My first big bit of game writing was working on ME2's Shadowbroker, which I STILL feel lucky to have been a part of. Then, Mass Effect 3.
It's hard to describe how it felt. It wasn't easy making ME3, but everyone knew we were creating the conclusion of something special.
I'm so privileged to have been part of these games, and the team that made them, and to see people enjoy and even find comfort in them.
Anyhow, this has all kind of been a ramble, but I mean this part very much: you guys are the best. Thank you for playing.

Chris Hepler @theotherhepler Ten years of Mass Effect this #N7Day. I still remember playtesting white-box levels where grenades made enemies fall through the floor.
Sylvf @sylvf1 More TRUE TALES OF MASS EFFECT, this time from @theotherhepler who went through some truly heroic efforts to ensure real science went in ME.
Chris Hepler @theotherhepler I was on the Unannounced Canceled Project when all hands joined in to playtest before locking the content. The feedback I remember was: 1) The moment where you become the first human Spectre should be a big deal. 2) A 90% male species rarely occurs in nature because (science) 3) Telling the Council that you had a dream and that's why they should listen to you should get you thoroughly mocked. Those 3 got implemented. I suggested a much flashier opening that would completely blow the art budget, so that never went anywhere. Time passed. I joined the #SWTOR team, and then 3 writers left the Mass 2 team and a fourth broke his shoulder right when VO lockdown hit. So I was told, "Chris, we need someone to write the non-VO text: the Codex entries, weapon descriptions, and Galaxy Map. Go!" #N7Day So I asked, "How do I make a planet?" being used to Star Wars' planets. Ice planet. Desert planet. Forest planet. Prison planet. So Chris L'Etoile handed me the Traveller Director's Guide chart of minimum molecular weights of gases retained by a heavenly body. #N7Day I was like, "Uh, does your audience actually care if this stuff is accurate?" Answer: "Some of them are astronomers. More importantly..." "...it's what we did in Mass 1, and if we change it now, we get dinged for inconsistency. So learn everything you can." #N7Day I wrote a lot. I flubbed a bit (the Mass 2 planet stats are really not as good or consistent as the Mass 1 and 3 planets), but there it was. Then I was on Mass full-time. If you're wondering what monkey chained to a word processor headed up the Cerberus Daily News, that was me. In Mass 3, I kept a lot of non-VO responsibility and wrote some quests and characters. Thane, EDI, and a rough draft of Samara's mission. One of my fonder memories was staying up all night at the local GameStop for the midnight release of Mass 3 with @sylvf1's gaming group. The day had been full of people roleplaying on Twitter because of the Emily Wong #solcomms hashtag. That was me retconning why she wasn't... ...in the game. There had been some kind of kerfluffle with the actress and the character had never been worked in. So, er... fixed? Anyway... my last real hurrah was Citadel (casino heist level). After a few months on ME:A I got downsized. So now I'm at Seasun Games. The major upshot of which is that I should end my lunch break and get back to work. #PiratesOfTheCaribbean game ain't gonna write itself.
Jo Berry @joanna_Berry So many amazing messages, anecdotes, photos, artworks, and well-wishes today for #teN7 (and an email that had me happy-crying at my desk.)
Love the artwork! If only we could've always had all our squadmates fight alongside us instead of picking 2. That's why I love the suicide mission and the final Meridian mission.
