I wanted to get this done before the Game Awards but couldn't quite make it. It still focuses on space exploration because, well, we don't have much else to go on and I like the theme. Plus, I finally featured Kennedy's epic Moon Speech on a trailer! I think that's me done for this year on Mass Effect. Hope you enjoy the vid!

I really like your trailers And for me it is the first time to hear Kennedy's Moon Speech, so thank you double time I really like to broaden my horizons with historical knowledge.

Glad I could be of service! Here's the speech in full: Also, if you'd like to know about the early days of the American Space Program I would recommend the movie, " The Right Stuff," and the mini-series, " From The Earth To The Moon." The first one shows how America's first astronauts were chosen and how the Mercury Space Program was put together. The latter shows a bit about the Gemini Space Program as well but focuses on the Apollo Space Program that eventually put men on the Moon. It has some really hilarious episodes like the one about how the LEM (Lunar Excursion Module) was made.

Yay for the Kennedy Exploration theme and the video cut in general, but the Interstellar Soundtrack threw me off.
MEA has had some great ambient scores so far in it's trailers.

Ah, you might have liked my first selection then! As I said, I changed it on a whim, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Thanks for watching!

Bioware should definitely replace those guys in the PR department with you.
Kudos for the video!

Nice job, as always.
But am I the only one who feels that most of the environments shown thus far are distinctly non-alien? For a game that wants to push exploration and the sense of wonder, nothing really pops out. I guess I was hoping for worlds with flora and fauna and animal life unlike anything we can see on earth. What would life look like that had evolved on an eezo rich world? That's the kind of question Bio should ask themselves when creating these worlds. Fairly disappointed so far.

Thanks, OdanUrr, for the enjoyable trailer. I approve of anything that ties the series back into the real world, and you did it with quality. Each step forward risks losing that "this is us in 170 years" that Mass Effect pulled off with unique creativity. I hope that they're able to maintain that vibe so far from Earth and our own galactic backyard. I agree that the environments have been very familiar, thus far, and not at all alien. Two things could be said for that, though. One, these are precisely the types of planets for which the Ai is searching, and on which we'd expect to find MW colonial settlements. Two, we've only seen three worlds that were hand picked for marketing purposes. We can hope there are plenty of Presrops, Rayingris and Solcrums in the game, and that some worlds feature bizarre ecosystems. I'm honestly less hopeful about the latter, as you are. We shall see, I guess.

We shall see, I guess. I get what you're saying but even among the "golden worlds" the AI has targeted I would not expect the plant life to be all that familiar. Aside from the single fluorescent fungi we see early in the gameplay trailer, nothing else is unique looking...and even if some of these worlds had something akin to trees like on earth they would still look alien to our eyes in some way. While these "golden worlds" may have been targeted because of similarities to Earth, they will have some differences that will effect the evolution of any plant and animal life present. And it's not like I'm expecting Pandora (although that would be pretty awesome) because I understand Bio has limited resources, but they can do much better than what was shown. I'm hoping that they just haven't populated the environments yet with stuff that's done or still being worked on.

Well, as Element Zero God put it, the Andromeda Expedition is looking for certain types of worlds that are able to accommodate human life, as well as the other species travelling in the Arks. What we've seen so far seems to be a bit more diverse than what we got in ME1 at least. Will it be alien enough? Will we travel to worlds like the ones in Interstellar? Will it be a better space sim than NMS? I'm leaning towards, "probably not," (except maybe for that last question) but let's wait and see. I do hope they release a demo at some point like they did with DA2 that will let us explore a world (not related to the main quest) at our leisure.

However, with all due respect to Commander Shepard, Kennedy's speech is better.

The "God" part is by virtue of my 500+ posts. Mac Walters just did that final interview with Game Informer and addressed this question of "how alien will the worlds of MEA be?" I just finished watching it a few hours, ago, and wanted to revisit this thread. Mac said that they would be guided by what was considered feasible scientifically. They would aim for "whoa, alien", but would not be going the route of Avatar, which is more fantasy than science fiction. They want to show us some things we haven't seen in the the worlds and ecosystems of the Milky Way, but they won't completely defy science to do it. I liked his answer, and it sounds better coming from him than from me. The interview is full of cool stuff, though nothing new or outstanding. I thought it was enjoyable and worth watching. Edit: Here's the video, for those interested. Remember, though, this is not the discussion thread for this video.

I do hope they release a demo at some point like they did with DA2 that will let us explore a world (not related to the main quest) at our leisure. Again, I'm just speaking from a logic stand point. Should a tree in Andromeda, regardless of how Earthlike it is, look like a tree on Earth? I think the answer is a resounding no, because there's always going to be variations in the gravity, climate, atmospheric density and composition, proximity to the sun and type of star, amount of liquid water, moon/no moon/mulitple moons and relative closeness, magnetic field and strength, whether there are predators or not and in what form, and method in which they perpetuate there species, (I'm sure there are tons more too). Every one of these variations can impact how a species develops...whether plant, animal, or insect. Take a tree for example, it could have a similar architecture, (I realize there are time and budget constraints) but maybe it's bark is fur-like or has a stone-like appearance, or the leaves are just "oddly" shaped, or covered in nasty looking thorns the size of daggers. Maybe it's fatter and lower to the ground due to higher gravity or make redwoods look like shrubbery because the gravity is lesser. What it shouldn't look like is it was copied and pasted straight from the DAI objects library. That's my real complaint for a game that wants to encourage exploration. And we all know they can do much better...even under time constraints. Devil is in the details.

The only criticism I have is that the swell of the music slightly overpowered Kennedy's speech for a few seconds towards the end, but it didn't completely drown him out, so it's not too big a deal. Apart from that, like everyone else said, you did a great job!

I, in particular, wouldn't mind. Quality over quantity.

Apart from that, like everyone else said, you did a great job! Cheers! Yup, the loud music compounded the problem, but the volume of the speech itself is not the same throughout. I actually had to amplify it during that portion and lower the music somewhat.

Also, if you'd like to know about the early days of the American Space Program I would recommend the movie, " The Right Stuff," and the mini-series, " From The Earth To The Moon." The first one shows how America's first astronauts were chosen and how the Mercury Space Program was put together. The latter shows a bit about the Gemini Space Program as well but focuses on the Apollo Space Program that eventually put men on the Moon. It has some really hilarious episodes like the one about how the LEM (Lunar Excursion Module) was made. I second this. Also, Spider is the best FTETTM episode. Too bad JFK wasn't alive to see Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon in 1969. JFK not being alive is likely the only reason why Armstrong made it to the moon at all. When he was killed, the notion of cutting the space program became unthinkable even to its most harsh critics. Also, contrary to popular belief, JFK wasn't actually a fan of the space program. He only supported it for political reasons. He felt that politics aside, it was a massive waste of taxpayer money.

- You know, you look more and more like Steve McQueen in The Great Escape.
- Funny you should say that. I got guys digging a tunnel under the East fence. Should reach the trees by Sunday.

The only criticism I have is that the swell of the music slightly overpowered Kennedy's speech for a few seconds towards the end, but it didn't completely drown him out, so it's not too big a deal. Apart from that, like everyone else said, you did a great job! Cheers! Yup, the loud music compounded the problem, but the volume of the speech itself is not the same throughout. I actually had to amplify it during that portion and lower the music somewhat. You could try playing with channel mixing...having more of the speech allocated to the left/right channel...if you didn't already try (and have the capability).

You could try playing with channel mixing...having more of the speech allocated to the left/right channel...if you didn't already try (and have the capability). I did not know that (I'm learning by trial and error mostly) but I fooled around a bit right now with the Sound Mixer and it looks promising for future trailers. Thanks for the tip!

Awesomely done. Really gets to me like the original trailer with Jennifer Hale.
