I call them the Mass Effect blues. Anyone experiencing something similar? Anyone feeling it yet?
It happens to me every time a new ME game is close to release (read a few months away).
I have plenty of games I could play and yet I pick up the controller and just cannot think about anything to play because god damn it...it's not mass effect.
So I put the controller down and go back to the websites and the saved google searches to see if there are any news about Mass Effect (whichever is about to come out...this time Andromeda) counting down the damn days and hours until it comes out.
I have halo wars 2 coming up in February and I SHOULD be more excited about it but NOOOOOOOOPE.
The god damn mass effect blues.
Anyways, Thanks for listening...LOL.

Me.
I've been feeling it since N7 day. XD
I've been managing by replaying some of the other ME games. Currently just started ME2 and still deciding what sort of run I want to play. Maybe this time I'l try something different than my normal MO. Granted, I say that every time I start a new play through on any of them and always wind up going nearly full paragon with Garrus watching my six. XD

Sounds like you need to fire up the original trilogy, OP.

I tried holding off the feeling as long as I could. But now that it's possibly only a few months away, and we've seen more footage, it's impossible for me to play anything else. Been scavenging the internet for the past three days for any news.

I started a new trilogy run to pass the time. It feels good to be back in it, man. I missed my Shepard and all her companions, but I need this game to come already.

Kinda. I get post-trilogy blues whenever I play all three games and then I can't seem to play anything else and enjoy it. Sure, I relive a lot of bad memories and feelings whenever I get into this Andromeda anticipation. I really want it to be good, but whenever I'm in Mass Effect mode, my disappointments of ME3 keep creeping in and how ME:A is just something new that goes further into that hole sort of, whereas I really miss what this series was with ME1 and 2 and wish in some way it could've continued down that path somehow. But honestly, I've been playing DA2 and other games lately even through all this hype for ME:A and not only does it help me not think of the negative things, it erases the blues whenever I focus on that instead of scouting for Mass Effect related news or posts. Just playing a good 'old' BioWare game I really like makes me enjoy myself. So, I hope ME:A is gonna be good but whenever I indulge in it for a couple of hours by posting on here, I find myself increasingly frustrated. Part because of ME3's legacy and BioWare of 2016 and part because I really liked some of what they showed at TGA but there are still so many disappointing features like the face animations and honestly, the combat is too flashy for me. It's going to be fun, no doubt about that, but I wish it was more grounded, even with the Jetpack. There's a lot of "Bro-culture" surrounding the way the game is marketed, the developers' focus both on twitter and in interviews and fuck, I just miss old pre-ME3 Mass Effect, alright? So yes and no. Thanks for reading my 5am ramblings.

I'm not the right person to be answering this sort of question, since I have never been that much into Mass Effect. But honestly, I cannot think of any game that made me blue in that way. There is always other stuff to do, and in my experience if I cannot find something just as awesome as whatever I am expecting I'm just not trying hard enough. Even just talking video games, right now I'm having a blast playing Bloodlines and I plan to do a full rerun of The Witcher trilogy afterwards. That should tidy me over until Andromeda comes out.

It's happening to me. Because of that TGA trailer Ratchet and Clank, Watch Dogs 2 and FFXV are now backlog.
I'll snap out of it for Horizon: Zero Dawn though.

I had the same thing with The Witcher 3 ( If I am correct, a poster here would do a shot every time TW3 was mentioned so cheers )
More often than not, the excitement and anticipation are greater towards the release of a new game; or any goal or event for that matter. Maybe because of the great expectations ( nice Toto song ) we have and fantasize about it, making us feel giddy and all that.
A shame those feels seem to vanish once said game is released and are you playing it for a while.

Yep I'm feeling it. Feeling bluer than an Asari.
It's kind of bad really, on the one hand a hopefully really awesome game is coming out in a few months, yay can't wait, but on the other hand a hopefully really awesome game is coming out in a few months, I think I'll play some other games until then, nope not happening. It completely destroys any desire or motivation to play other games. Or do ANYTHING. Except worry that you'll die before the game's released and pick fights with squirrels and bears because you're jealous they can hibernate, until you calm down and ask them to teach you how to hibernate and they say "sure!" and if it's a bear it knocks you out for a month with it's paw and if it's a squirrel it throws a really massive chestnut at your head and knocks you out for an extra month and then one or the other says "and that's all there is to it."
...I need to uh, seriously get a grip. A chestnut can't knock you out for a month. Jaysus.

This is the same thing I feel right now Wierd thing is... I NEVER get hyped by video games that are announced/are about to be released. But I am extremely hyped about Mass Effect: Andromeda and I think I know why. But when it comes to Mass Effect, for me this is not just a videogame. It's like a videogame combined with awesome sit-com series/book and story. Its like new Star Wars for me (that makes the old Star Wars obsolete for me) and I love the Mass Effect universe lore and aliens even more, than actual Mass Effect games. [UPDATE]...and you know what guys/gals... Seeing now that there are many others who feel this "Mass Effect Bues" which paralyzes me to play anything else, it kinda made the Blues more bearable for me... just a little more... but it still now feels less cumbersome for me to wait those final few months to jump into this amazing world and play it end-to-end at least a couple of times...

Yep, dead right. I never planned to be back this early, but then the BSN Prime closure announcement happened end of June and I got really angry about that, and afterward, I'm back in 'BSN-land' until launch. I do play other games, but coming here and chatting is as good as a game...

Hmm, the "wake up dump" or "morning dump" is a ritual for many, so I'd imagine needing a dump after months of hibernation would be quite welcome. I mean who doesn't enjoy relieving themselves of solids and liquids. You know, it's uh, one of those small pleasures that people enjoy. Especially number two-ing. Uh, Christmas pudding. Sorry, I had to say that because the conversation was a taking a u turn. Pun intended.

To be honest the only other thing I scour the internet for is the Xbox Scorpio. Other than that no other video game related thing is even affecting me...and even then it is only in relation to how much better Andromeda might be playing it on the Scorpio.
Hell any other time I'd be replaying halo 1 to 5 and halo wars 1 in anticipation of halo wars 2.
It is good to see I am not alone

I've heard that a bourbon, a scotch and a beer will cure that......All joking aside I feel the same. I've played through the trilogy and I really dont feel like playing anything else. All the games I wanna play are coming out after Andromeda. Maybe Guy Mitchell can help... Ok last joke I promise!

Big fan of the first game bought it twice, got the last gen version and the remastered. I just recently slowed down on the MP which I still think is the best TPS I've played online. I'd be in your shoes if it was close to releasing but I think the game is years off.
