It's worse when the game icon is sitting in your Origin client, because you pre-ordered, just taunting you.

It is so daunting/depressing for me everytime I open up my Origin... and I see that "Spring 2017" at the bottom... This is the only series I'd wish I had early access to...

I know the feeling, but not right now. After the gameplay video I'm not really that excited. As always, I'm completely the opposite to this vibe....my hype has intensified to Azure levels of blue: there is no release in site.

I don't really feel that. There are many, many pretty damn good video games out there, and judging from the VGA trailer, MEA still needs a lot of work.

That's just it... there are indeed a lot of great games out to there to play, but... I just don't have capability to check them out myself... because they are not Mass Effect I know this sounds silly, but it is true. I lost interest in all other titles.

Nah. I played the Witcher Blood and Wine DLC for about ten hours straight yesterday now that I have a new GPU at last. Damn, how can this game be so perfect, I still don't understand how they did it. Truth be hold, I'm scared to replay DAI because it will play like ass in comparison. So maybe Witcher 3 will be that game that ruined me.
I'm still playing the trilogy though from time to time and nothing will ever surpass it no matter how dated it now looks on my Xbox. So yes, Mass Effect is my one true love and that will never change, and Andromeda will feel like a mediocre rehash, no doubt. Regardless, super hyped anyway!
But no, I can enjoy other games just fine in the meantime. In fact, I have a whole list of stuff I'm dying to play over the winter months.

Every once in a while I get nostalgic for Mass Effect.
But then I recall how the journey ended, and it smothers any desire.
So instead I look through my collection of other games. Alpha Protocol for amazing NPCs. XCom for battling aliens. Deus Ex for shooting and navigating maps. Telltale games for great stories.
Or heck, just look at Bioware's older games: the Baldur's Gate games, Jade Empire, KOTOR, even Dragon Age.

I definitely know the feeling, even if I managed to get into DAI for the last week or so...but it's just delaying the inevitable (and the feeling is at its strongest for the last few weeks leading to the release, at least for me).

I started a ME3 playthrought last night. I was in the mood for some ME since the last MEA trailer and ME3 was conveniently installed on my PC already.
I went engineer (I never finished ME3 with that class), but after a while I've been wondering if Adept wouldn't be more amusing.

I just finished DA2 again. What a fucking... awesome game in contrast to DA:I in retrospect! No, they're both good in their respective ways, but seriously, some of you, especially those that haven't played it still and don't care if it's fantasy or sci-fi, you should play it. The deciding thing it has over DA:I is a proper sense of tension and buildup and narrative structure. The ending ain't perfect at all, but it's alright and the buildup to it is some near suicide-level shit to be honest.
Next I'm replaying The Witcher 3 for the first time and Blood & Wine and I haven't played the game in full with the expanded Triss patch or UI redesign either. It's gonna be great.
That'll teach Mass Effect blues a lesson.

Beyond that it's the new standard for which I'll compare coming releases. TW3 is the new minimum for excellence for games, particularly among RPG's. I have a feeling I'm screwed moving forward, since I can already tell MEA is going to fall far short of that standard (baring some remarkable changes prior to release). It's gonna suck if all I'm left with is CDPR and Naughty Dog for story driven games. I really hope I end up being completely wrong about MEA. Damn, now I'm depressed. I've got to stop dwelling on it.

I can't wait for MEA to come along, I've restarted playing ME3 again as an engineer this time. I still enjoy playing ME3 multiplayer, it's such a great game, I've never enjoyed any multiplayer experience more than ME3MP. I expect I'll still be there playing ME3MP till they tap me on the shoulder and say "hey buddy we're turning this off now"

I don't really feel Witcher 3 ruined anything. I gush over it because it's the best game of Next gen or at least one of them and it's the best BioWare game not made by BioWare since they derailed themselves starting with ME2 and so on. I actually feel Witcher 3 has more in common with Mass Effect 1 than Dragon Age Inquisition, and that's why I fucking love it. On the flipside, I much prefer the scope and focus of ME1 over Witcher and mostly the sidequests. Why? Becuase ME1 was full of great ideas, and while Witcher is too, most quests boil down to the same lame structure of looking for footprints with senses, listening to Geralt's monotonous voice as he monologues until you stumble upon a conversation and then some combat perhaps. There's choice and occasionally really good consequence, but for the most part I felt ME1 had a way less linear quest system because it had less and focused well on those. For example, I have played ME1 about 7 or 8 times in total and I still find new ways to go through the whole port Hangshan part which includes optional parts and it also took two or three playthroughs before I had seen various outcomes of the more striking side-quests like the Father Kyle one or Garrus' companion quest, not to mention all the cool non-quest details like talking to Udina after each main plot mission on the Citadel to hear some of his angry ranting. I guess I'm also more of a sci-fi nut than a fantasy nut, but needless to say, Witcher 3 is amazing; it combined BioWare design with Skyrim and succeeded, but in all honesty I prefer ME1 a lot to Witcher 3 and to me Witcher 3 hasn't ruined anything. On a side note, I felt Witcher 3 was disappointing story-wise for multiple reasons as a Witcher 2 fan, not that I expected a continuation of everything in that game, but several things struck me as extremely forced or unnatural like Letho's appearance, all of the kingslayer plotline, politics in general, lack of dramatic beats involving Emhyr, the third act in general and the backstory for Eredin. All in all the story was good but I was expecting more and in the end I have much fonder memories of the smaller stories and all the subplots that branched out of the main story. To me it was a game with perfect world-building (except the war and its politics...) and a fantastic sense of immersion, great main characters but a bit on the shallow side when it came to plot. And, as cool as the fight at Kaer Morhen was, I had been there and done that; it was a repeat of Suicide Mission. I always thought I wanted to see that style of mission again until I found myself feeling only half-excited when it finally happened in Witcher 3. Thank god the parts surrounding it was incredible, such as the Witchers bonding and bro-ing, romance talk and the great price for the fight leading into a rightfully sad and reflective scene after it's over. To me that was the best part of the game by far. Other than that, I at least enjoyed the epicness of the finale in terms of spectacle, but otherwise I was slightly disappointed at the overall direction of the main plot.

That'll teach Mass Effect blues a lesson. Eh, my opinion is sort the opposite. While Act 2 worked well in building up the tension on the qunari, Act 3 failed pretty hard to me on the mage-Templar conflict. If felt flat, aside of my problems on the how they handles the choice post-bomb. I think a third neutral path (which doesn't want it should've been the best path) would've been great. But this is something that wasn't going to happen regardless of the time they had to develop the game.
