If you are dumb like me, here is how to make ME 3 on Xbox One work the way it was inten... err... how you expect it to:
After loading that puppy up, you may be surprised to find yourself on your actual account with everything unlocked... except the DLC. The licences are all there, they just won't download automatically on Xbox One. You can go into the list the same way you would on 360, but clicking "Download again" from the in-game interface doesn't have the same effect when running the One's OS.
All of them have been queued up to be installed after you do that, but not in the same place you'd find DLC for Xbox One games. Instead, you'll have to go into the game's XBone menu option "Manage Game" which will show you the licenced DLC. You can access it by pressing "Start" over the selected game, or by pressing the XBone button on the joystick, if the game is already running. There is a convenient option button near "internal" (where all the DLC is listed as "ready to install") called "Install All." Press that button and, depending on your speed, several minutes or hours later, everything should be "back to normal" by ME 3 standards. Pick your colours carefully!
To those of you for whom all of that was really obvious, well screw you smarty-pantses, some of us take a li'l longer to get there!
To those of you still not getting it to work right, I'll try to answer any questions, but more likely, someone who knows more than me will answer them first!

On another note you have to install from disc 1. It will download the whole game but disc 2 will cause an error.

On another note you have to install from disc 1. It will download the whole game but disc 2 will email an error. I never actually put the second disc in, out of instinct. I only ever played the game on my most recent 360 for multiplayer, so installing both discs was unnecessary. Apparently I spared myself a headache without realizing it!

Hey Jeremiah I think you should also add this to your OP for retaliation fix on xbone. The only way I have found that works for me is to unplug the cable that goes to my xbox and router before the DLC check at the menu. Then plugging it back in at the menu and then signing in.
But I just got my NAT type to be open on my xbox one and I don't know if unplugging the cable will upset the NAT type so I really don't want to do that.
People have said that I need to put the DLC on a separate device like a jump drive. Well that's what I did. I have Mass Effect 3 saved to the internal hard drive of the xbone and all the DLC on my 4 terabyte external. So I unplugged the external hard drive and started up ME3 and once I got past the DLC check at the menu I plugged the external back in and wait for it to be ready. Then I tried to play but it doesn't recognize that I have the DLC plugged in I guess because once I go to the multiplayer none of the DLC is there. So I have no idea what to do. Other than throwing the piece of shit against the wall and say fuck it and watch porn, but I do that anyways. Wubba lubba dub dub.

budhalen (thank you!) gave me this fix: you uninstall Retaliation then start the game; after you pass the DLC check you go into the XBone game menu and install Retaliation again. Once fully installed you can play the game normally. Of course, you have to host...
