Haven't seen any of them so far. I think it would suck if Bioware drops them from the game entirely, it was always a good dilemma and deep thought process. I really liked talks with EDI and Geth story progression. I know some people think they are not different that toasters, but think of it this way. You won't have toasters to shoot if there are no Synthetics in Andromeda! I suspect any synthetics found in Andromeda will be by civilizations that are already there, not something that we bring with us. It might be interesting to see synthetics that have been around for longer than a couple of centuries.

Those remnant flying security drones look like ME1's little flying geth pieces that killed Jenkins

The original trilogy kind of revolved around synthetics. So I hope this game skips them.

As long they're driven by "Logic", not by "mai feels", & then lie to me 3 times in a row. Then I won't have to throw the toaster out the airlock.

There are remnants which seem like mindless robots.
Overall this game feels more like some sort of science-fantasy thing than a sci-fi space opera thing and that's in no small part due to the lack of synthetics as well as darkness. Why is every planet we've seen gameplay footage of so far been really bright and pretty?

Why is every planet we've seen gameplay footage of so far been really bright and pretty? I HATE to use the Borg analogy but it fits the Remnants: They ignore us till we attack or hack their precious data. Yes we have seen bright worlds but that does not mean that they may contain dark secrets. Look back at the 2015 launch trailer that building rose out of the ground so maybe some of the better things are yet to be seen or need to be dug or 'hunted' for.

I get the feeling that the Andromeda Initiative will use AI to help maintain and keep the arks going while they make the trek to Andromeda -- it only makes sense. Plus, it's in the abbreviation--AI in the AI!
Plus I get the feeling that the Remnant are more than they appear, we just think they're flying drones because we don't really know WHAT they are and what they're protecting.
Either way, I just hope both have good stories and in ways that don't feel like rehashes of the previous trilogy.

Well i wouldn't say no to some one like ETH.3n ( Ethan ) from CoD:Infite Warfare. Definitely. Setting aside the hate cult that's formed around the game, the campaign is one of the best I've played. Ethan was a great robot buddy.

I really liked EDI in ME3 and her process to become more.. 'alive' rather than a machine. Sometimes I reminded myself she is man-made, an AI. But then she grows and learns, computers can't do that on their own.
I would be very interested if I could witness that again and be all philosophical about it.
When is something truly alive?

But then she grows and learns, computers can't do that on their own. I would be very interested if I could witness that again and be all philosophical about it. When is something truly alive? I would have to respectfully disagree with your first part. Personally, I felt that EDI and the Geth were already 'alive' way back in ME 2, and that the whole notion that ME 3's writing pushed; that they weren't 'complete' until they became more like us; was more than a little pretentious. The idea that human and human-like is some magical golden standard by which all other sentient life in the universe is to be measured against to determine if it is "correct" in it's existence is ridiculous considering the sheer variety of the universe at large, and would be considered incredibly racist (well species-ist technically) if any of these non-human aliens were actually real and not some characters in a video game. I mean just take the same principle that Mass Effect is saying with EDI the and the Geth and apply it to a comparison of any human culture or ethic group to another: "You are not like us, therefore you are inferior/an enemy and only by giving up your way of life and becoming more like us will you find acceptance". On a different note, one related to synthetics in general and how they are depicted, I would really like to see a logical approach to their design. If you are dealing with a robotic race, one that is just software operating various platforms, don't go having them putting pilot seats on their space craft for the humanoid platforms to drive. They're software, they wouldn't need to create living space and catwalks for themselves since they could just download into the ship itself. More than that, it would be incredibly inefficient of a robotic race to include such obvious structural weakness in their space craft and transports or to include a breathable and temperature controlled atmosphere on ships that aren't being crewed by organics. I would suggest looking at a synthetic species such as the Loa from the Sword of the Stars universe for an example of what I am talking about. They are just software, and as such their ships are immune to boarding by other races because they have practically zero open spaces on their vessels. In fact, not having to create space for a crew means that the Loa could mount more weapons and armor on their vessels. I hope BioWare will take a similar approach to any synthetic designs they choose to work into Andromeda. A robotic species is not just a human with metal skin after all; their very nature would mean that even simple methods of travel would be vastly different for them and the organic species.

Well, i think that there will be geths as well as quarians. Quarians can be few but they dont have their own arks. geths can be there with the explanation that their masters attacked them and they did their own andromeda initiative and it could make sense. they dont need cryosleep so it can be easily achieved by them, theoretically they can be there even longer, ever since the geth war started, as an attempt to survive if/when their masters win. Or maybe even Rogue Geths if the canon would be that shepard rewrote the geths. It is a possibility and personally i dont like quarians so im okay with them being a few or nonexistent in andromeda. Geth on the other hand.... at least add them in multiplayer like the collectors in ME3 if they arent present in andromeda. But since synthetics are liked by the ME players, it is highly possible that they will be in andromeda as well

I personally really hope the Geth aren't in Andromeda. I hope there are EDI variants and am open to new native synthetics in Andromeda I liked the Geth in the Shepard trilogy, but I agree that they shouldn't be in Andromeda. Considering the Andromeda Initiative has nothing to do with the Reaper War, it would not make sense for them to end up on the arks. The people who built the arks should still be viewing Geth as irredeemable enemies who want to destroy organic life. If there is a synthetic faction in the game, I hope they're native to Andromeda.

Why is every planet we've seen gameplay footage of so far been really bright and pretty? I think part of that is because dark, rock planets/moons don't necessarily make the best promotional material for gameplay. We've seen concept art and brief shots of darker, more rocky planets, but they haven't been featured because people want to think they might see pretty vistas like in TW3 and DAI.
