ME3 MP - Life after MEAMP?

I suppose EA can go " it's mine, mine , all mine, go away "  even though they'd gain nothing from it.
Player base isn't huge, who's going to buy BW points.

Also, how reliable would a private server be? How many " you've been disconnected from ..." , " you just lost connection "  !? 
And how would players be reached to learn about it even ?  

 

I have some experience with people who set up their private Civilization 5 multiplayer server bypassing Steam in its entirety. It is very reliable and works much better than actual matchmaking in Steam. Civ5 is known for notoriously bad and buggy multiplayer servers. The guys fixed most of the problems. It does involve some absolutely illegal hacking. But neither Firaxis nor Valve have done anything to block their group on Steam. Most, probably 99%, of the people who regularly play there have bought the game. There is rather open discussion of events and posting of instruction with download links in the Steam group that happily continues for the past 3 years. It still goes strong. There were about 5000 regulars in the beginning and probably still a thousand now.

Currently, there is no installer or clear walk through for the private server connection setup. But it surely can be created based on what is there at me3tweaks. I presume info can be posted there or here. I doubt it will be up in Origin but you never know.

Nope, I don't even have a cam. I am the chick gamer who is more interested in just playing the game and making funny sexual innuendos/double entendres than whether or not I can raise my follower count by being some "sexy gamer chick".

Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just simply not my thing.

If I actually got a cam, what you would see is me in a T-shirt and pajamas drinking beer between waves with zero make-up. Because I game comfortably.

Think of it like this: you change the model from a server which receives hundreds (or thousands) of requests per minute to a server who receives one in the same amount of time. Which do you think will be more reliable?
 
As to reaching for players it will obviously be through word of mouth, email, forums etc.

I looked over at the me3tweaks and the server that akots was talking about is already functional. So let's say we decide to take a break from MEAMP after a while cuz we get bored with it. So I install the server and send some invitations to friends to join for an evening of ME3MP.

As long as I and all my friends have legally purchased copies of ME3 there is normally nothing that EA or Biover can do about it. 

I was trying to answer your question about reliability, as one who got disconnected tens of times during extraction waves.  
I'd rather build and maintain my own server than going through that again...

I think they will stay open for many years. I've been playing Crysis 2 (2011) and 3 (2013) and they still work, and I only ever see about 30-40 players on 3. To play 2, we have to organise a session of 6 people as no one plays it anymore  .

And fro ME3  you're always going to get a trickle of new players who are looking for a cheap fun game.

I'm not going to get uber excited over the MEA MP, I think it will look gorgeous, but i worry that if they differ too much from ME3s success, it won't have me playing for thousands of matches. I hope I am wrong, but the amount of hype worries me. If I don't expect too much, I can't be disappointed
