And Quarians... (Depending on whether you consider the lazy photoshopped stock image for Tali canon... even if the model was appropriately hot)

Bioware already struggles with human hair, they're not ready for furry aliens. So that explains why EVERY ALIEN RACE in Mass Effect is BALD!.....Except Humans. And Quarians... (Depending on whether you consider the lazy photoshopped stock image for Tali canon... even if the model was appropriately hot) No. I am sorry to offend but I do not. I will count only ACTUAL in game hair meshes and that so far has only been Human.

Wouldn't mind seeing some alien aliens but I understand they have to be judicious on what they prioritize. Frankly I'm having a harder time understanding the lack of alien-looking plants...which is an important part of selling the illusion and far less difficult to incorporate. If all we end up seeing are a bunch of barren worlds, it'll be little better than ME1's hue swap worlds. Most likely the garden planets will look a lot like Earth, with green plants and trees. I'm hoping there's at least one however where they look nothing like Earth-based life. Plants Under Alien SunsThank you for posting! This is why I love these forums (aside from the fact things here are less toxic than the BSN). I really should have been a science major... Oh well, perhaps in another life.

I have another question. Why cant we have any furred aliens? Like wookiees? Or even ewoks (uh oh, i see hatred coming my way). Or feathered, for that matter. I guess there are the Raloi, but they've never appeared on screen. Feathers first appeared on flightless animals, and performed the same function as hair. (insulation / protection from the elements)

I would really like to see invertebrate aliens fully implemented at some point. If the animators could make them as fluid as octopi they would be amazing to see, and make for a unique companion. Who needs an cloaked infiltrator when you could just send your octopus alien friend through the enemies' plumbing or ventilation system?

I believe it's an attempt to make the aliens look aliens without problems with the animations.

Yes they are invertebrates but they aren't very mobile, BioWare has them more akin to a gas bag then a squid/octopus analogue.

I remember seeing this movie as a kid. For fifteen something years I had no idea what it was called. Barely remembered what it was about but it sure made an impression, for some reason. But yeah, there are zero evolutionary benefits to having legs shaped like that.

What it does with the center of gravity is ensure its ill-aligned with your ridiculously deformed base. You would struggle to avoid falling on your face. Those legs are completely unviable in nature. Truthfully, that's one of the more ridiculous things I've ever seen.

Those legs are completely unviable in nature.Truthfully, that's one of the more ridiculous things I've ever seen. You sure? Does not an Ostrich have a similar build? Not really. The ostrich is truly digitigrade, so the toes, feet and legs are structured completely differently-- hard and soft tissue. Alien-boy just has backward, humanoid legs. They'd never be able to actually bear any weight. The ostrich's legs are attached more or less "center-mass" of the bird's long body. There's no danger of the ostrich tipping forward, because its center of gravity is properly aligned with its base, unlike alien-boy in the gif. Humans have a straight-legged, plantigrade stance because this is what works for our upright build. Nothing else would be efficient and comfortable for us. Alien-boy couldn't even stay upright without at least a cane, likely two crutches, even if his legs could support him. Edit: As I type this, I feel like I once saw a documentary of someone born with this painful mutation. I might have to check the interwebs. -->Nope, not exactly. One can be born with a congenital dislocations that make it appear as if the knees flex backwards, but they are not truly formed in reverse. Congenital Genu Recurvatum, it's somewhat iffily called. As a final side-note, I can tell you from experience that dislocating a knee is f-ing terrible.

I'm hoping to see Felinoids myself. I usually try to be pretty accepting of others' likes and desires, but cat-people? I rate cat people below space elves, space dwarves, space orcs, and pretty much any type of alien which I can imagine for ME. I never want to see anthropomorphized animals in Mass Effect; especially cats. Cat-people and rabbit-people torpedo an IP's credibility. Really, don't any furries do this? (Even if your cat people were not furry, I'd know they were just bald furries. ) Before anyone suggests that turians are birds, did anyone actually think, "Nihlus and his people are clearly anthropomorphized birds," before we were told that turians are "sort of avian". Not likely. If I've missed and ruined a joke, my bad.

If I've missed and ruined a joke, my bad. The first time I saw anything from ME was when I was browsing SWtOR vids on youtube and saw the newly uploaded femShep/Garrus tango from Citadel dlc (so March 2013). I had several first reactions as a ME newbie, which are as follows: 1) Whoa, what planet is this? 2)Look at all the aliens at this nightclub! 3) So they all live on this planet. Wonder whose world it is. 4) Sees lady at bar... 5) Sees anthropomorphic bug...
6) Oh, they're two undercover cops (was partially correct here). 7) Uh, did they have a past relationship? 8) Um, yeah something sexual went down between these two! 9) the bug is suave as fuck, he knows the tango. 10) They're going to blow their cover, right? 11) OMG, they did have sex. How did she have sex with a cricket? I've got to play this game! As to anthropomorphized cats (particularly the bald kind), "oh, no, no, no, no"-

Not likely. If I've missed and ruined a joke, my bad. The goddamn furry arguments.... they dont go well with aliens. Aliens can pretty much take any form you can think of, mammalian i dont think it is that rare, humans are mammalian. "I never want to see anthropomorphized animals in Mass Effect;" Kinda funny cause i can see some even now. Just because they happend to resemble some earth animal doesnt make them furries, or are krogan scalies then? I think they look pretty much like antro turtles myself. And yes turians are pretty much birds, thats the impression when i look at them, well theyre repto-avian. And salarian are frogs, theyre so clearly like frogs when you look at them. I cant deny these connection my brain makes, even if its an alien. Besides in scifi and reality, every sapeint race is pretty much a "talking animal", humans included. And to be honest when you have human women aliens in a form of asari and quarians, you cant go any lower than that in alien races(lets be honest they just wanted to make something for us to bang, pretty much the same for drell, except for women). And theres no explanation for this, were just supposed to accept they evolved like this, and became to look like that? Not 1 but 2 damn races in the same galaxy. No dna manipulation or seeding involved at all. At least in Star Trek they tried to explain why we keep seeing beings that are pretty much "humans" on other planets, with that "progenitor" babble. Id be ok with "cat people", if you made them uncanny valley like the na'vi or kzinti. Straight up, no, I agree, it be a bit ridiculous unless they were some sort of a dna experiment(there was an old scifi rpg named traveller, that had a dna manipulated race of sapient space dogs). ME races are pretty much a mix of rubber forehead aliens, intelligent gerbils(which felinoids belong to) and starfish alien(which there are only few). The former seem to dominate. If you wanna see a setting where the latter dominate, you should check out Star Control 2, and even they had a couple of "intelligent gerbil" races. Its not going away. I myself created one felinoid race for the ME uncanon that had resemblance to earth felines, but still in the alien uncanny valley(they had weird ears, quills like porcupines and were the product of a bipedal evolution, more similar to simians than felines). They were pretty much my homage to kzinti, of the Ringworld/Known Space scifi. And no there was no dna manipulation, just the same convergent evolution force that makes similar looking species on other planets, like the earth deer and "the shifty looking cow", or humans and quarians(apparently). This would be ok with some tweaks This would not

The only way humanoid aliens will be removed in favour of truly "alien" looking body types, is when we actually meet an alien for the first time, and even then, if that alien is "humanoid", then no change will happen.

LOL Felinoids could be lion people. Actually I also wouldn't mind snake like aliens... that stand up like cobras. This is my answer to those that keep asking for non humanoid type aliens. And no, I don't like the Elcor, Hanar or Rachni in Andromeda.

Is kinda boring for me.We seen 2 new alien races from Andromeda, and they have backwards legs, why not forward?or 4 legs?I want to see a more diversity in alien bodys...I'm tired to see only humanoid shape aliens with backaward legs. Me too. Babylon 5 did it right, both in appearance and concept. 24 freaking years ago.

Because it's difficult to render so many builds for video game development, and the backwards leg aliens can still use human builds, making the development that much easier for the dev team?
Harbinger had multiple legs Reapers had 4 Elcor had 4 Rachni had 4 Thresher maws have many!
And it looks like the Revenant have more than 2 legs....
It's just easier on the dev team to make your squadmates upright like humans.
