Also there is multicrew update coming up. They plan to have some kind of joint operation, where part of the squad control space craft and combat and one or more go and enter ship or station in a more "classic" experience tying this into a new take on the coop experience. Sounds quite interesting.
That reminds me... I need to install an extra reactor or two in the dojo and build an elevator to wherever I want the Railjack's dock to be in preparation.

I started playing this about three weeks ago - had been on my list for awhile but whenever I watched it on twitch it didn't seem that fun. I actually really enjoyed the gameplay loop though the MTX model is a little too predatory for my tastes. I think I've just about got all the planets unlocked now and am hoping to try some more end-gamey stuff before I shelf it just to get a better sense of the whole game. Any suggestions for specific things to see/attempt from a gameplay analysis perspective? Gameplay or design?
Gil commented on the relics and group dynamics. That reminded me of the "Clans". The way it is designed is that there is content, Frames and weapons mostly, that i just available through clan research.
So clans are player groups. There is this thing called "dojo" - the home base which must be constructed and rooms added which unlock the research to craft these weapons. Is essentially a group progression system. With potentially "We donne it!" level of pride and accomplishment.
Is it bad or good to lock these weapons behind group play? Of course you can leech from a group and then just leave - the unlocks stay with you, since the guns are normally crafted for your account. But I think the positive effect is a generally higher player retention. If you happen to run into a group you like to hang out with you're probably more likely to keep playing a while longer.

From personal experience this is very true. I played World of Warcraft for over a year after I had basically stopped caring about personal progress, but I kept going because I enjoyed the company of my guild and I felt a sense of duty to help with raid activities so they could enjoy themselves. Ironically it turned out that many others had continued raiding for the exact same reason, and after the guild leadership did a secret poll about this, all raid activities were stopped. Only a small handful of people left for other raid guilds.

We do the new raids to experience them, but the majority of the game for us is doing the M+ runs because there is a bit of a challenge all the time and overall we just have more fun with them.

I mean I generally like to see decent designs and solutions wherever I see them but specifically gameplay though it feels like the real draw is the progression > gameplay loop.
I've just finished unlocking all the Planets and the quest lines that came with them so we'll see how much more I play though I've got a bunch of prime frames just about done so I may try a few more out. I have a time issue with so many different games that I need to play so I can't really get deep (100+ hours) in to anything unfortunately.

Noclip made a documantary about the game, but more from a design and strategic perspective. Gameplay-wise you might interest for the iterations the game went throiugh.
Many Frames were reworked with their abilities, the whole damage model had an overhaul with damage 2.0 and another one is pending I think. There is also a rework of melee. The initial movement system got a complete rework, we used to be able to wall-run e.g. We also used to be able to "copter", i.e. propel ourselves by use of melee attacks using certain weapons to great distances thanks to some quirk in the physics or whathaveyou. Progression-wise the advanced loot-gathering was rebuilt to use the relic system, with the ever growing content to unlock came the need to have a way to work to specific drops - all in one loot table would have been a frustrating dilution. And of course the boss battles were reworked, you know the ones you do at last stage of planets. I think the warframe wiki also has info about how it worked back then, though a systematic synopsis would rather be some work to collate all of it.
For upcoming I am mostly interested how the coop feature of space missions is gonna work out. I imagine cooperating steering a spaceship, player at helm, another tweaking systems doing repairs manning turrets and another fending of boarders or going on a boarding mission - that might turn out quite interesting.

Once you clear the starchart, the most obvious loop is "play the game in order to aquire new toys". That's when your either like the underlying mechanics enough you keep going, or you drop the game. Unfortunately, at this stage, the Frankenstein nature of the game rears its head: without any clear goal to look forward to, a player realizes how this game really is a pile of mechanics hapahazardly piled on top of each other; if that works for you (as it does for me), then you keep playing
Some types of gameplay require specific mods to really work. Valkyr for example is an older frame that is these days outclassed in her basic role of melee/tank. However, the Eternal War augment creates a self-feeding loop for her buffing power ( Warcry) that brings her kit up to 11. Other mods are useful in opening up gameplay opportunities for a number of frames; for example, Quick Thinking helps in keeping caster frames alive - and their powers are often most useful at really high content (looking at you, Banshee), while Hunter Adrenaline is a great way to keep the energy flowing for tankier frames.
Looking at specific frames, three stand out to me in their gameplay design: Saryn after her recent rework has become very interesting to play. Her main power increases damage the longer it stays on the field, but the caveat is that it only spreads if enemies are not killed by it. This makes her kit a lot more interactive than her previous fire-and-forget gameplay: you need to hunt enemies down and kill them with your weapons if you want your spores to spread and the damage to tick higher; her other powers are also geared towards spreading your spores; in general, you need to be on your toes to keep the ball rolling. (note that, as with so many other things, the loop can be broken and abused relatively easily). Harrow is a more recent frame that is built around synergy and trade-offs. Unlike many other frames, his powers interact directly with gunplay: weapons are buffed, and weapon kills maintain and enhance his abilities. A favourite of many, I nevertheless do not enjoy it much, because I find his gameplay loop constraining: "hit 3 to keep energy up, hit 2 to get buffs, hit 1 to get shields and easy headshots, hit 4 to reap the benefits" is what you mostly end up doing, no matter the mission, or the enemy, or the situation. It's a strong synergy, but it's also inflexible. Nidus finally, is probably my favourite frame when it comes to gameplay design. Nidus is all about resource management. Killing with his first power grants stacks that charge your damage, and can furthermore be expended to increase your damage resistance, buff you and an ally, summon an AoE zone of regeneration and some minions, or even prevent death. You can also forego this gameplay loop and build Nidus as a gun platform, using his 2 as a form of CC. You can go for high or low duration, high or low range, power strength is only important if you are planning to charge his stacks... Whatever build you decide to use, Nidus is an easy-to-use, easy-to-master frame that nevertheless feels rewarding and fun to play with.
There's a number of other interesting/diverse gameplay designs hidden away in the game, but these are the ones I felt were worth mentioning. Looking forward to seeing others and/or hearing more thoughts!

Loot is nice and that. One of the goals to work for. I'm not sure I'd play this as a new player - the sheer number of stuff to have seems colossal. Maybe choking. When I started out it was a lot less and I made bit for bit each bout I played Warframe. Apart from that it's learning how the frames work. Trying to make melee work. Doing all that with frames I like. Then try with ability augments. Then make these frames look good. And colour Hamletic's dungeon.

My personal motivation to play Warframe is a mix of progression and gameplay. I like getting new weapons and frames, and then I generally play them a lot if I enjoy them. Sometimes I can get excited just about weapons I find unusual and interesting, and then I usually run off to build and play them as quickly as possible and if I like what I see I give them a lot of forma love. To misquote Cephalon Simaris - my current obsessions are the Exergis shotgun (I just love the sound and reload animation) and the Pox knockdown clouds of death. Nidus was always one of my favorites, and as such he's one of the few frames I have several configurations and several customizations saved for. My most recent one is about pairing him with a Helminth Charger with all Strain mods equipped, a build just for fun and giggles. And maggots bursting from a monster dog, of course. Other than that, there's Nova. You can make interesting tradeoffs in both the power and range departments. Depending on your power rating you end up with a "slow Nova" or a "speed Nova", either slowing down or speeding up your enemies for different benefits. Range wise you get to decide whether you want a larger explosion radius for enemies dying while affected by Molecular Prime but expend your Neutron Star particles faster and lose your damage resistance with them, or the other way around. Depending on how she's built she's useful in many different situations.

No, it's not the ultimate, it's the sheer number of enemies banging on their guns because they are all jammed. Warframe is full of so many animations - it's little details I often enjoy.

I often switch between her Noble and Agile because I really like them both, and it makes me sad that her Peacemaker augment removes her stationary ultimate animations that were so obviously inspired by Equilibrium's Grammaton Clerics.

It was the depression that has logged 900+ hours for me. 🙃 Needed something to fill that empty void when my PS3 died and no longer had access to ME3MP. So, fortunately enough, Warframe did that for me, keeping me distracted with its never ending variety of customization!
Now, being a completionist, I started to build weapons for mastery fodder, grinding for syndicate standing to get those special weapons and stupidly purchasing while supporting my DE wives plat to buy Prime weapon sets because I was too damn lazy to farm for the relics. This eventually led to the creation of a spreedsheet for me to keep track of how much forma + Fieldron / Mutagen Mass / Detonite Injector I needed per weapon. I've finished all but one: Caustacyst. WHY DOES FARMING FOR MUTAGEN SAMPLES HAVE TO BE SO DAMN HARD?! 😖
It's all about setting goals for yourself in the game, IMO. You don't have to take on multiple tasks. One goal could be acquiring all the BLUEPRINT WEAPONS from the marketplace and leveling those up for mastery exp. If you like one of them, keep them! That's how I came across some of my favorite weapons! 😤 So, don't be me and overwhelm yourself.

Saryn Prime and her signature weapons Spira Prime and Nikana Prime have been unvaulted... sort of.
There will be three Gift from the Lotus missions over three weekends (including the one that just passed) that reward you with 10 relics each that contain the required components. Since you cannot repeat the Lotus missions, these 30 relics will be your only shot to get all the parts you need. The first mission was up this weekend and will remain active for 10 more hours while I'm typing this.
Also does anyone know what that new female voice on the scanner with her rebellion themed thoughts and quotes is about? A teaser for The Wolf of Saturn Six?
Happy 6th anniversary, Tenno.

The game is a huge time-sync. Unlocking the planets and doing the quests is essentially just the beginning... The majority of my time has been spent trying out different warframes and weapons (in order to do this you need to spend time forma'ing said weapon/frame. Outside of that there's the daily sorties and Eidelon hunting as well as various other methods of farming to get a specific warframe and weapon. It's a fun game but it is a huge time sync. From my perspective I'm at a point where I have tried every warframe and almost every weapon so there's not a whole lot for me to do until the next update

I started a new Warframe account the other day, thinking I'd knock out a couple Steam achievements that never synched up the first time around (MR2 & Mercury boss). For whatever dumb reason, they still wouldn't trigger, but nevertheless it was pretty fun starting over again. Reminds me of my alt account adventures in ME3MP & MEAMP, and of course like with those, it's amazing what a difference it makes to already know how the game works.
Edit: Not only would the acheivements not trigger the second time around, but I also have a new bug on the new account, where it says I'm not qualified to use any of the general chat channels - only squad chat. I have a feeling that may be due to my choice of user name though, which is um.. possibly mildly offensive.

Okay, so that 60m Kuva Survival to knock out both tasks was a pain. Though we almost lost it at 55m, me and a clan mate did it. Nekros + Sayrn, ez. Also, take a newb to the Index to complete the rare mod task.

[/ul]
Nice job! All these "do high level stuff with a friend or clan mate" things are near impossible for me to do since there's no one I'd put through that on my friend list. I'd be all over solo jobs but the friend requirement screws me over. Luckily rank 30 in ten weeks should still be doable. On the bright side, it made me try out things I had never done before, like tranquilizing cute furry things in Orb Vallis.
