From Mac. “If you go back to the original Mass Effect, there was that sort of awe of going to a new galaxy and meeting all these aliens for the first time—new races, new cultures, new civilizations,”. “We want to bring that back.”
“The twist we are putting on it is that this isn’t your home. Here, everybody is looking at you and going ‘Who are you?’ as well.”
"... the team is trying to blend the cinematic, linear missions people liked in the previous Mass Effects with a richer, more open experience on the surfaces of the worlds players explore. "
So, Andromeda is a ME1-esque type game with more cinematic sequences + facial expressions from your team and aliens + open world experience = exploration. Meeting new cultures implies some form of Hub centres or Trading Outposts. And, we are the New Boys in Town. Yet, it's a human centric story.
We know it's about Ryder's journey. Is this game about Ryder evolving from a newly combat trained individual to a season vet at game's end or about the pressures and personal trials to achieve the goals of the ARKCON mission? Will Ryder become the human Ambassador Extraordinaire in the Helius cluster?

If they can balance all those elements MEA has the potential to be great. Balancing open world with linear missions and in-depth companions is a lot more tricky than it sounds on paper. I'm still hyped for the game but won't buy into all the dev over promises. Poor things, they are often too ambitious and can't pull of what they want to deliver.

If they can deliver on even most of it, we should be in for a good game. It's always an "if" with any developer, though, even if their name isn't Molyneux.

They have a tendency to bite off more then they can chew so we will see how it goes and how much gets cut out and maybe sold as DLC later. Sounds good but it usually always do.

I hope it isn't just some sort of pseudo-remake reboot.
"Oh well this time instead of just being some special forces guy, the main character is a teen tech wiz, strong biotic, and also one of the best hand to hand fighters in the fleet without any training!"
"Last time we had enemy starships 2km long, this time they are the size of an entire planet!"
"Wrex has a major role, although saying his fate would be a spoiler."
"Shepard has a cameo at the end, but just stares at the camera with no lines."

That doesn't mean the entire story is human-centric, although we will see it from the human POV. I would presume it's about the pressures and personal trials to achieve those goals. I think whether or not Ryder becomes an ambassador is up to us though.

This is a very interesting premise.
However I do remember thinking the same about DA2's premise which they never could fulfill. On the plus side, they only had 18 months to do DA2, they did have way more time to do MEA. We'll see what they could manage to take from the drawing board to the actual game.
