What is your favorite alien race in the Mass Effect Trilogy And Why? (Excluding Reapers, Leviathan, Keepers, Yahg) Personally I Absolutely LOVE all quarians, Their history and biology And Culture intrigues me, And I really dislike a tie between (Here Comes The Hate Mob) Turians Or Vorcha, Because all Turians Act and feel like the same Character and Vorcha are just plain annoying. (All Races: static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/7/73958/3388740-masseffectraces.jpg )

Geth is least favorite for me. I'm just a huge bigot against AI/Synthetic beings. Someone here already called me Elder Maxson in another thread. Was happy to rid the galaxy of the Geth and chose destruction for the ending. Sorry EDI...

Favourites - Turians. A race that puts stock into service and doing things for the good of all Turians rather than of the individual. I like the military aspect to them, to do what is right even if it means self sacrifice. Plenty of criminal Turians, but the society doctrine on the whole is a noble one.
Least favourite - humans. As selfish, stupid, ruthless and short sighted in the Mass Effect universe just as we are in real life.

Favorite - Turians and Asari (I love the militarist races and the blue space babes) Less favorite - Geths (I just don't like synthetics) and Drells (just a big meh, probably BW fault in not making someone interesting).

Favorite - I think I have to go with Salarians. Science and spy-stuff is a nice mix. Quarians and Turians are the follow-ups.
Least favourite - Elcor and Hanar. Feels like Bioware just include them for laughs most of the time and it is starting to get old.

Favorite races:
Turians: Cause theyre just cool Krogan: Badass space turtles Salarians: Crazy scientists
Not favorite:
Keepers: Cause they dont really do anything Protheans: Socially darwinistic dicks. Dont get me wrong I like Javik as the troll of the party, but in retrospect his race were assholes, im kinda glad they were terminated by the reapers. Imagine living under their regime.
Potential wasted:
Batarians: Would have liked to see a squaddie, now theyre just a whipping boy race. Collectors: Skeleton plot doesnt serve them, would have liked to see more often, maybe a mission in ME3. Quarians: They were ok, until i found out they were just another race of space elves under their hoods.

Favourite: Salarians. Driven by logic and the desire for knowledge. Honourable mention: Quarians. Pure survivors who were abandoned by the galaxy.
Least favourite: Hanar. Religious zealots. Dishonourable mention: Turians. Shoot first, ask questions later.

I'm surprised nobody said Batarian. I remember seeing a chart on how Batarians were the most hated by fans in the ME series. I know the Hegemony is mostly to blame but I couldn't help but dislike them either. I still put them over the Geth though.

Big fan of salarians, I could do without Krogans, Wrex being the only one I like (I know I should like bakara because they did all they could to make sure we liked her, but, meh... I don't absolutely dislike her, at best)

Favorite: Rachni - An actual 'alien' species when compared to the veritable ocean of rubber foreheaded humans in the setting. The only species to actually heed Shepard's warning about the Reapers and prepare accordingly (being wiped out off camera notwithstanding); and even after all that, the Queen instantly sends support once freed from captivity no questions asked.
Least Favorite: A tie between the Humans and Krogan.
Humans because we are a race of Mary Sues in a galaxy that, for some inexplicable reason, worships the ground we walk on. We are a species so special, so "genetically diverse" that we are beating all others in their respective areas of expertise despite only being a part of galactic society for less than 30 years and everyone else having thousands of years worth of experience and infrastructure at their disposal. Better militarists than the Turians, better scientists than the Salarians, better economists than the Volus, better biotics than the Asari, etc.
Krogan because of the narrative bias in the writing (especially in ME 3) that saw them as blameless victims at the hands of evil, racist galaxy. No mention of their actions during the rebellions; redirected asteroids into Turian garden worlds anyone? The eating of captives for sport? No mention of how in the thousand years since the conclusion of that conflict that they have yet to do anything productive with their homeworld; all that greenery we see growing again in ME 3? Thank the Salarians for that one. All they do is sit around asking for a handout and expect the rest of the galaxy to feel sorry for them, and then, when people (who aren't Shepard) do start to work towards helping them, all they can do fling insults and bring up how poorly they were treated in the past.

I like the *idea* of the Rachni, unfortunately in the games we see very little of them, we know practically nothing about their culture, architecture, technology, etc. So not much to go on unfortunately. True, we don't get to see them as much as I would like, but as an "idea" I find them much more interesting than the human-like species.

My favorite are the Quarians - space-gypsy tech wizards with a tragic backstory their ancestors totally brought upon themselves, and now their descendants are paying for it. Lost their home world, their place in the council, and the galaxy's respect. Despite that they have this vibrant culture (one I wish we could have seen more of - it's only through codecs and such that we hear they're big on art, music, and dance) and interesting social dynamics. Also, their suits are cool-looking.
Honorable mentions: Salarian - smart, sneaky, pragmatic, what they lack in might they make up for in intelligence and strategy
Least favorite: hmm... I can't say I truly dislike any of them. ME did a great job, I think, of making them all varied and interesting. The hanar and vorcha were both annoying and kinda one-note, so I wouldn't feel put out if I never saw one of either again.
And now for some unpopular opinions:
While I love Wrex and Bakara, I don't really get the fascination with the Krogan. It wasn't until Priority: Tuchanka that we got a glimpse of anything resembling an actual culture among their species that wasn't just about violence and breeding. And it was from a long vanished past. If you cure the genophage there's hope they could re-gain some of that, and that's cool, but that hasn't even happened yet when we leave for Andromeda. So I don't really see what the Krogan are going to contribute to Andromeda's story for me, personally, to care about. Hopefully I'm proven wrong on this.
I have mixed feelings about the Turians. I absolutely love their character design, and Garrus is a favorite in the series (tied with Mordin and maybe Legion). But, again, there just doesn't seem to be much to them beyond the military thing and honor, duty, and so on. I felt like most of the Turian side characters we meet are, while likable enough, kinda unremarkable (versus the Kirrahes and Kal'Reegars and Aethytas). It's a shame we never got to see Palaven, as it maybe could've enriched our understanding of them. Again, I'm hoping there's more to them in Andromeda than uptight security dudes and mercs we kill.

Favorite race? Krogan. I like how tough they are and how unafraid they are to do whatever it takes to win.
Least favorite? Keepers. Because fuck all is known about them.
Edit: Well since it's a poll now and I can pick three favorites.
1. Krogan
2. Batarians
3. Vorcha

Favourite: Hanar For me, they look truly alien. They basically jelly fishes and I like how they speak. They seem fairly peaceful, yet they're more than willing to use Drell assassins to fight for them. That and I just fine it very hilarious when I saw a Hanar walk and push that reporter (forget her name).
Least: Vorcha. I don't know too much about them, but they seem fairly unintelligent and are only useful in fighting

You should've made this into a poll. Good call, silverhaku can delete it if they object. Note: To give this thread 'Andromeda' relevance, humans are included because 'we are the aliens now' (and there's not going to be a heap of MEA news over the next couple of weeks...)

It's a question with fascinating answers, especially since non-humans are typically just anthropomorphized humanoids that belong to distinctly human subcultures. So the question actually boils down to: what humanoid follows your favorite human subculture?
Interestingly, humans in such games are typically made as vanilla as possible as to make the races stand out more. it explains why people find them relatively boring. Personally, I can't really relate to something that isn't human (probably cause I never owned a pet) so my answer will always be human. They look like me. Act like me. Think like me. I get them. I'm more interested in how we humans can develop our relationships with aliens, as opposed to wanting to just be the aliens.
If I were to answer the question I posed in the beginning, it would more likely answer all of them than single out an individual one, because it would be an exploration into a type of human culture I may have never experienced before or in such depth.

Favorites: Asari & Turians. My runners-up would be the Krogan & Salarians.
Least Favorite: Probably the Hanar. I think the species concept is interesting, but we've yet to run into a Hanar character in the games that wasn't used for comic relief.

Favorite - Turians. The asari and krogan are close behind in 2nd and 3rd place, but I have a particular fondness for the birds.
Least favorite - Drell. The hanar should've saved someone else.
